Our policy is if you quit you cannot go to the next sport until the current season is over. I'm at a small school where we have a lot of kids playing multiple sports.

C9 by Champion from Target are $30.00 a pair. They marketed as golf pants but I love them. I own about 6 pair. I wear them to school everyday as well. I also have a couple pair of Nike and Adidas as well and they are great but more expensive.

We do it every Friday between 3:00-4:00 depending on home/away and usually have a devotion/motivational speaker talk while they are eating. We try to do a few Thursday night meals or some other team building activity throughout the season.

To go with the last 2 stories, we once had a kid come into our office and ask what he had to do to get better and start. OC looks him straight in the eye and goes "you're never going to be a starter." Lol. I have thought it on numerous occasions, but never said it.

Sounds like a great opportunity to teach everyone the Heads Up Tackling module before you get started in full pads. I think we all should be doing that with every team, every year... We always do that the first day in shells.

Looking for ideas on Spring Training practice schedule from smaller schools. We have about 35 players 8-11, next years 9-12. We have to go 3 days in helmets, 2 in shells before full contact can start. What are you guys doing?

You could call it a policy I guess, but really it's more of guidelines. We have it posted in our locker room and make sure we educate our guys. I refer to it every so often.

At a small school like I'm at, in my experience it's a waste of time. Too may on floor, stuffed in locker, etc. How many kids are in your school? I'm always interested in what people think is small. Under 400 9-12.

We go 6-8 AM and our kids like it. I've done two shifts in the past, one morning and one afternoon and our numbers were far better in the morning. I think it just depends where you are at. What works for us may not work for others, do what works for you.

If you clearly have the opponent out manned you should always call the dogs off and limit the scoring. Never embarrass your opponent. Keep in mind these are kids.

Somewhat related question here: Coaches, from your individual perspectives, what is a bigger indicator of a coach attempting to run the score up, the personnel in the game or the plays being called/clock management? Definately Personnel. My play calling doesnt change but the players do. Therefore Im going to get all the guys reps on all the playbook. And that does include running long plays for TDs 50 points up, because the backups need pratice running it too in a game situation. Nope, thats not a good enough reason to embarrass your opponent. If you are 50+ points up and are still scoring TDs you clearly have the other team out manned and therefore should alter your play calling, period.

When you can run your team and you dont care what the parents think. You stick to your guns because its the right thing, even though it may not be flashy. Heh spoken like a true wing coach. Amen!

Effort and repeated missed assignments by players that I know can do it is the only time I will really take it up a notch or if I'm instructing the entire defense at once.

My wife is very supportive. She goes to every game if there is anyway possible. We have a 4 year old little boy and a baby girl on the way due in March and she takes care of everything at home during the season, with the exception of the yard stuff and a few others. I honestly don't see how you guys do it without supportive wives. It would make my life much harder if she wasn't as supposrtive as she is.

TDM, I really don't know the differences between the two styles. This one has two TE, and then an upback (their best guard) in a 3pt stance behind the QB, a FB in a 3pt stance behind him and a TB in a 2pt stance behind him. It was awesome power football. I've heard that formation referred to as the Maryland I.

i am no fan of tony franklin but tuberville has slipped in my book he was already on my, "coaches I would like to not see win too much" list because of his connection with fulmer the story of how fulmer screwed over johnny majors, a man I do respect makes me sick it all boils down to what goes around comes around and stick by your principles, if you don't then you will also eventually get screwed over too this may be conjecture, but it appears tuberville was forced to take tony franklin by some boosters instead of telling them to kiss off like he should have he took him on even though his philosophy and the philosphy of his staff didn't fit and now he is going to pay for it it's kinda sad to see a once great program fall apart like this How did Fulmer screw over Johnny Majors? I don't follow Tennessee football too much... Stabbed him in the back every chance he got until he took his job. Karma has finally come back to haunt Fulmer and he deserves it.
