you let someone else take the credit for your idea and you don't care. Oh, you notice that they didn't speak up, but you don't acknowledge it.

I pulled my car around to the practice field, put on some music for the kids, maybe even popped 4 5 hour energies myself just to get the kids up...and it only kinda worked...

When you know fundamentals make the difference first prior to drawing up x's and o's.

When you need 2 hands to show off your rings...
OR
your rings are older than your current players...

When I am (young coach) watching film and the experienced coach sees what all 11 players are doing (coverage, lb read, d-line techs) and I am still trying to figure out what tech the d-end is in..

When you can run your team and you dont care what the parents think. You stick to your guns because its the right thing, even though it may not be flashy.

When you watch a D 3 football game on TV instead of games on opening day of the NFL because you know the pro's do nothing you can use but the one of the D3 schools is a wing-t team.

You can comfortably hold a conversation with another coach who's 50 yards away.

My wife caught me watching a random, just happened to be on ESPN, 2 yr old taped HS Football game while the Brewers were playing in the playoffs a few years ago...and just looked at me and laughed.

I don't know if I'm "experienced" or not, but I thought about that other thread "You Know You're a Football Coach When" when I was reading a blog about the Power-O, and they had a clip about how you can run veer out of it, and the first thing I thought was, "Man, that guard is using a really interesting pulling technique."

You can comfortably hold a conversation with another coach who's 50 yards away. On the other sideline, down your own sideline or during practice?

One time I was able to tell when the other team was going to punt and when they were going to fake, and I told the HC. He asked, "how did you know?" and I said, "Well I'm not sure, but the other other team's coach was doing the drop kick motion."
In youth football it's fun to watch the other team's sidelines.

I can't remember if I have told this one yet:
1st the back story: Do you have a coach on staff that always seem to pick out the odd event/goings from film that is usually not even remotely related to the game/winning/preparation? We had one, he could always find something happening on the sideline, stands, track, etc.... Well watching film that preceding Sunday, he jumps up and stops the film and point out this particular one, so we are well aware of it going into the game.
Both head coaches know each other pretty well, so on the JV night before game gee haw, our Header just has to ask about what we saw on film, and the other coach says, "Yep, you're right".
Now come Friday night playing this team, we end up ahead pretty good late in the game. It's a small school atmosphere I.E. Not a lot of fans/noise, in other words the 'coach's voice', as my wife calls it, tends to carry a bit.
So both sides are emptying the bench; we're on offense trying to run out the clock, they're putting everyone and his brother in some where on defense. And after another first down by us, as plain as day you can hear clear up to the press:
"MR REF! MR REF! NUMBER 68 IS HOLDING OUR MIDGET!! NUMBER 68 IS HOLDING OUR MIDGET!! THAT'S A PENALTY! THAT'S A PENALTY! IN FACT THAT SHOULD BE TWO 10 YARD PENALTIES!!!"

Using a previous post for this one...
When you truly realize how awful gameday is, the only good part about it is between the kickoff and the final whistle...
5:30 AM till Midnight or Later... and up at 5:30 the next day for JV or Freshmen... joy.
