Not the game itself, but everything before that.
We have our first scrimmage today at a new school and I have NO idea what to expect. School hasn't started yet and it wouldn't matter to me if it had because I'm retired.
Hanging out at home before game time sucks.
Waiting around the office after we get to school sucks.
The bus ride sucks.
Warmups suck.
That is all.

I don't know...I kind of look forward to it. If I ever feel nervous it's probably because in the back of my mind I think I forgot to teach something. Then I'm sure I'll find out what it was after the scrimmage.

I was a little nervous tonight, not knowing what to expect, but usually nerves aren't a problem. It's boredom. There's a lot of "hurry up and wait" and that drives me nuts.

We still have a week until kick off. I never get enough sleep the night before first game. Less nerves, more excitement. It is boring sitting in your living room alone at 4am cause you can't sleep

Thats me also fantom, mattyg2787 its boredom. When I first started coaching I would literally wake up at 1am and stay up all night in anticipation. I also hate warm ups before the game. Im just ready to get the game going. On a good note, we did very well at our scrimmage today. First play of game was an 80td.

I'm with you on that, and the constant battle to allow the players to be loose early without getting out of hand to set off the header, I can go without that balancing act and all the waiting but it's part of the beast I suppose.

I work Sunday to Thursday. After that it is up to the players.
Maybe it's my old man in me, but when I lay down, I go to sleep.
I used to not sleep the night before 2 a days/start of fall ball, but now I just go to sleep.
The only thing that keeps me up is my 3 year old. With 3 kidlings, I have found that when I get a chance to sleep, I lay down and sleep.

Worst 2 1/2 hours of my life.
If we win, it's relief, not exhilaration.
If we lose it's like a state of shock.
Either way I usually can't get to sleep until 2, 2:30 am.
Has gotten worse as I've gotten older. Must be getting dumber.
Only "up" side is makes me make darn sure we're prepared each week so I don't get that feeling more than deserved.
The luxury of coaching is winning. Don't lose when you should've won.

Friday is litterally an 18-19 hour work day with my non-teaching job (5 AM till Midnight), with an early wakeup on Saturday for the freshmen games (5-6 AM). Just killer.
Luckily, I'm a sleeper. Only one or two games have kept me up. Maybe its because of all the hours. Only a few positives on game day (the actual game, my hour long lunch break, and the concession stand. Maybe a W, depending on the opponent). I don't even really go out after the games with the coaches most of the time. I'd rather go home, have a beer, watch film if it's up for a little bit, and hit the sack.
I'd fall asleep at the bar.
