For my team to believe they are as good as they really are. Self confidence.

just a thought...with players becoming so much bigger and faster, would it help to enlarge the playing field. I know that idea has been floated in basketball to help open the game up more.
also...habe helmets become too good, so that there is no fear of using it as a weapon. If you were forced to wear the older style helmets, youd think twice about sticking your head in there. but when you listen to the old nfl guys, they say it was brutal...

Since your in SC, go visit Colquitt county GA in Moultrie. You'll get a lot of ideas of how to spend money and things you can build.

continuing my previous post...
most of the elite programs in my state have a nutrition program. just like in college a players diet it tailored to his needs. Big guys and little dudes need to eat differently. several programs i know of have added cafeterias, kitchens, etc onto the field house and have hired a full time nutrionist. The boys eat before school, during school, after school, heck whenever.

Do you have a nutrition program? Can you hire a nutrionists? Feed the boys all the time. One of the biggest differences in elite programs I've seen.

Jmg999, You will never understand the world of OL coaches. Telling a kid to take a 33.5 degrees step... Please. I'm lucky if my kids can walk and breathe at the same time. I hope our OL coach reads this. OL coaches (if you ask them) are the only ones who actually work for a living. the rest of you visor wearing hippies run around throwing a football at each other. How hard is that? Try getting the least athletic, out of shape kids to play the hardest, least prestigous position.

The Warren Commission released it over 50 years ago. His name's Lee Harvey Oswald. That's what "they" want you to believe... Area 51, Kennedy, Moonlanding, and now RNS...

Have had referees that worked our scrimmage game or intra-squad game address the team afterwards. Would bring up observations they saw during the game, etc. Its easier done in our area, all of the coaches and referees know each for the most part already...

Do a drive chart to look at field position. Huge factor.

raymul...lol...if no one scored during the 2 five minute periods, whoever advanced the ball the furthest was awarded one point and the victory. Ex...Team A drove the ball to the 50. Team B drove the ball down to the 35 and time runs out. Team B would win by 1. There were a few 1-0 scores back in the day.

coachfloyd...atleast if still tied at the end of 2 five min halves it goes to OT. Do you remember when the game was decided on penetration during the 2 five min halves? Now that was fun......

At one school I coached at we gave a Gatorade award. It went to the kid who spent the most time in the training room. We did something similar...our trainer used to have a roll of tape bronzed and put on a trophy...called the "Golden Tape Award"

I'm really interested to read what you've done. I feel like that may be the one thing that is holding our program back. My guys are not leaders and havent seen or been around leaders so they dont have a clue.

Being in at a small school in georgia I prefer 2 scrimmages. Half my team is playing baseball or track. Now if I was at a large school with 100+ players...missing a few to baseball and track might not be a big deal.

What do you do? Best lineman, two way player, walks up during pregame meal and says his mama won't let him play because they think he is hurt. May have a hernia.
Said it's been hurting for several weeks. It didn't stop him from power cleaning 300 pounds thursday. But mama says...

Only time i've seen in done was when I was in high school. We had a RB coach who was a D-1 back about 4-5 years out of college. Offense ran a toss sweep right and he promply ran over a LB and 3 or 4 dbs on his way to a 75 yard touchdown.
Everyone else is right...lawsuit waiting to happen.
