I've been curious on the ages of people on your staff, because ever week teams, opposing fans and officials always look at us like we're the youngest group on the planet.
I mean, I know we're young. Not it question, but I want go know if anyone else here is close. We played a team mid season whose youngest coach was the same age as our oldest.
38 OC 36 DC 34 HC 29 25 25 23 21 21
Like I said, I know we're young. But, are we really that much of an anomaly?

We're middle school, so take that for what it's worth. Our 8th grade staff (Me: 29, my assistant 26) and our 7th grade staff (30, 24).

I can't give exact ages because it doesn't come up in cobversation that often:
HC Mid 40's DC/DB/OL (Me) 61 (For another month) ST/RB/LB 50's Retired USMC QB/WR 50's Retired USAF DL Late 20's Kickers 23 (I only know that because he mentioned that yesterday)
JV staff: Hard to tell. At my age unless a guy has a real baby face or serious grey hair guessing an age under 40 is hard.

I don't know everybody's age but I know I'm the second youngest at 29. Youngest is 22 and the rest of the staff is between 40 and 65.

At 43 I'm the youngest on campus football coach. In 4 years I'm done coaching (football...at least). My question is...who is behind me...that is on campus? Should be interesting who comes on board to take my spot from our teaching staff...because currently that person isn't here.

Tothehouse,
If you don't mind sharing, why have you already decided that you'll be done coaching in four years. Just curious.
Phantom,
You coach OL and DBs? I feel like that's a rare combination. I think I remember you saying you played OL/DL. How hard was it for you to learn to coach DBs? I only ask because DB is the one area I've never coached, and it still feels like a different world to me.

It wasn't that hard because the move happened in January so I had the whole off-season to learn. Also, that was in the '90's so the coverages were pretty simple at the time.

fcc - In four seasons my youngest son (currently an 8th grader) will complete his HS football playing days. I started coaching when I was 19. When my son walks off the field for the last time...so will I. I believe that will be 29 years of coaching for me.
Due to various factors and the fact that my kids will be done with HS ball...I will be done as well. I can't list the various factors because there are too many. It's time to pass the torch.

For us HC 30, QB 33, RB 32, OL 68, WR 26, Def Coord 50, DL 32, DB 32, LB 34, FR 33, FR 24, FR 33. Then me on Stats, Hudl upload, and Equipment 43. This whole staff except the WR coach and LB coach and 1 FR coach were together under previous HC who resigned 2 years ago at 42, HC was youngest varsity coach but at time one of only two remaining teachers on staff in building. He deserved it, works hard went 7-5 last year in his first season, this year we dropped from 6a to 5a and are 9-1 with playoffs starting next weekend.

That's a lot of guys, Chris! Yeah, it's a big staff, but most of our guys are coaching around their work schedules, and I forgot to include two backup OL coaches who are 35 and 25, but they're very much occasional guys. In an ideal world we'd have two guys at most positions. We also have 84 guys on the roster, so it gets a little unruly when you have 17 DBs in your group by yourself.
