Ok, we play on turf, most of our games are on turf. Played last Friday on grass and the field was moist. We're in central CA so a moist field is unusual given the drought. We wore white pants and white jerseys. We don't collect the gear and wash it, it goes home with the players and the families do the washing. Now the players are telling me their parents are doing fierce battle with the grass stains, pre-soaked, post-soaked, treated, cold water, etc., nothing is working as well as we want it to work.
Any recommendations for clearing grass stains from game pants? I figure that I'll be working them further after the season so any help there would be appreciated as well.

If they're solid white, just bleach them to death. We went white on white on an average grass field that had been rained on for 3 days straight.
Hot water, laundry soap (not detergent) and a lot of bleach. After a bleach and soap pre soak for a day.

We have red pants for grass games, but still have to deal with grass stains on our white jerseys.
We use large trashcans filled with hot water, scoop of laundry detergent, and a couple scoops of oxyclean- immediately after the game we soak the whites in that solution until it's time to do laundry. It works out pretty well- if there are any really big/deep stains after soaking we'll spot clean with laundry detergent and a scrub brush. then wash.

I'm glad we aren't the only ones trudging through hot water filled trash cans on Saturday morning!! We use an old crutch to agitate the clothes once we have it filled up enough. Keeping it classy.

We use an old floor hockey stick to stir the brew. HA! Keeping it classy!

it sounds like they are already set!... we collect all the gear after each game.. spray with oxyclean or resolve and then soak in ice water with a ton of oxyclean powder added until we wash.. we do this with our whites always, sometimes with our reds if needed

We use OxyClean also. Put them in large trashcan but we ICE them over night. Laundry detergent + OxyClean + 1/2 water, stir. Fill the rest of the trashcan with ICE.
We have never had problems with grass stains.

We put up a sponsorship sign for a local laundromat, and in return they wash our jerseys and pants for $60 each saturday morning. Dont know what they do, but we pick them up monday morning and they are pristine

How many of you guys have an actual commercial washer/dryer set? I remember when I was in North Carolina we used a Belco commercial set, absolutely the best set I've ever used. We are using a decent capacity residential washer/dryer. Pain in the butt, takes forever. One load of 10-15 jerseys on heavy duty takes 2.5 hours to wash. 3 loads of that, then pants, then a load of game socks, then practice gear. We do lots of laundry over the weekend.

We only wear white pants on turf, purple or gold on grass. Clean the jerseys like you do.

INteresting that you guys use ice water instead of hot...why? Does it work better? We wash all our Uni's in cold. Cold water / ice works best with OxyClean, don't know why. BTW, we play games on field turf also. They will stain white jersey's also, especially the black infill.

Seriously best thing we have ever done is to soak overnight in Dawn dish detergent, then wash and OXI them then spray shout on them and sit in the sun.....grass stains are completely gone
