Being from Georgia I can answer the Falcon Question: Because they are the Falcons and that's what they do.

Kid was ditching out on practice with doctor's notes (psychiatrist..). 1. Kid misses too many practices during camp to be eligible for the scrimmage (i.e. no contact). Dad throws a fit... Parent meeting explaining the policy... Dad cites the ADA, we tell him he doesn't trump state rules. 2. Kid misses too many practices to compete the in the first game (i.e. didn't have ten practices in, couldn't compete). Parent meeting to explain why he couldn't compete. Dad again cites ADA, we tell him it doesn't trump state rules... 3. Kid continues to miss practice but has enough to play in the second game. We give him three plays as a) it's a freshman game and b) our AD asks us to tread lightly until he figures it out. Dad brings a lawyer to the third meeting, demanding we give his kid equal playing time, as per the ADA. Lawyer is under the impression that we're not playing him at all and taps out when he finds out played him. 4. Kid misses more practice (again, excused) but he ends up kicked out of practice for telling a coaching to "f-off". Yup, Meeting #4 with dad and a friggin' lawyer. School is forced to bring in a lawyer as dad is threatening to sue... Glad I wasn't the HC.. Did we work together 20 years ago. Similar experience.

Im probably in the minority but I have trouble with WRs and QBs. I had 5 line coaches on staff last year. Must be a great group to work with...

Sit down and make a list of all that needs doing. Laundry, who stays late each day. If they are new to coaching make sure they know coaching is a hell of a lot more that game day and schemes

Fortunately while we are stressing how to keep our kids safe and follow all the covid-19 guidelines and protocols in hopes of having a season the "Private trainers" and "handlers" are all starting to have the "college exposure" camps. At the bargain price of $149.99 per kid of course. Do you think that they will be following covid-19 protocols? ...and travel baseball and aau basketball.

What are some situations you create or use to put your guys in position to compete.
Ex...goalline off v def...3 plays from the 7. Reward winner

Sometimes we continually do something that doesnt work because ‘plan-b’ is far worse. Example we are only getting 1 yard a carry running to the left, but if we ran to the right we’d lose yards and probably get someone hurt. I caught alot of flak this year for not throwing the ball. " always running the same old plays." What the fans dont see is that we COULD NOT THROW OR CATCH. It was a waste of time. I wish they could have witness one segment of nk practice where we went 3 for 20 against AIR...

Or when it’s 4th and inches someone gets in the gun snaps it back 4 yards and hands it to a Rb that 7yds to run IZ. Watching the same game?

Around here rolling houses has become the "cool thing" to do during homecoming week. Rolling = toilet paper the house and yard. Problem is the kids do it after midnight into the wee hours. forget you need to be rested to play a game.

There’s nothing that annoys me more than having to beg a kid to play. Our third LB is a sophomore and pretty talented but his reaction to asking him to go in is like we asked him to give birth. I understand reluctance to get on scout team but these are varsity reps. Our lb coach loves the kid and I let him roll in who he wants as long as there are no major issues, but it annoys the piss out of me when a kid that demeanor. There are bigger problems in the world for sure but man you get to play football...that should spark a little something in you! But that same kid will be the 1st to complain when he doesnt get to play.

What's your relationship with opposing coaches. There are 4 teams on my schedule I cant compete with. They could beat me 100-0 if they wanted. They usually get 35 by the half and empty tje bench in the 2nd. Really never worse than 49-7 type scores. They know me and my situation.

Another thread got my attention. Some posters mentioned that they condition during practice using circuits, drills, etc. They dont do the old fashioned "line up and run".
How do you condition during practice. What are some of the things you do if you dont run sprints.
Last year we ran sprints to start practice. 10 40s. Middle of practice we did a pursuit drill. and at the end we varied some type of competition/relay.
Looking for ideas. I was a OL and HATED running for the sake of running.

Its a sign of getting old..."These kids today..." I guess if you're complaining about young coaches, you're no longer one. Well, that's true. I was actually just commenting on the "sudden influx" thing. However, now that you mention it, I'm not as concerned about young coaches with huge egos. I'm concerned about young coaches who don't want to do any actual WORK, who think coaching is calling plays. Almost any coach out there will tell you it's hard to find young coaches who actually want to do the hard work or put in the time. I'm lucky. I have some great young coaches--but they are harder to find than ever before. Most of the ones I do have don't teach--because finding a young teacher who wants to coach and do the work and put in the time is almost impossible. I agree...trying to find ones that understand coaching is more than white board x/o's is getting tough. How about laundry, lining the field and all the grunt work that needs to be done.

IDK...i think parents being disgruntled as always been around, but i think people are alot faster to speak out (social media) nowadays. I had a 9th grade OL parents complain their kid was not getting any playing time on VARSITY. The kid didnt even start on the JV/9th grade team. Some people are never gonna be happy no matter what you do.

Intentionally violating the rules is cheating. End of discussion. What about intentionally letting the play clock run out and taking a delay of game penalty? If that is okay, then where do we draw the line? See your point. Can of worms msy have been opened with this thread. Question for the masses...what is cheating?

Assistants: coach your position group. Talk to the other position coaches if you see something that's not quite right. Coordinators: coach your position group and all of the positions on your side of the ball. Make sure that you and the assistants are on the same page before hand. Head coaches: coach everyone as you see fit. This.x1000.

Injuries truly suck, but they are fun, you get a real sense of what kind of coaches you have. I wouldnt say fun...

Has anybody lost an entire class. We are struggling. We are a small school, started with 34 kids on the roster. Playing schools 2x our size. We are out matched most weeks. Seniors have been great, working hard. Freshmen and sophomores are good. But we have lost about our entire junior class. they have been quiting left and right. We are down to 2. Its been an issue thats been brewing for a while. Its the group that getting them to lift hard is like pulling teeth. Forget about practicing at a level to actually get better....nope. We are actually better off with out them even though we will lose our last 4 games.
Just curious if anyone else has experienced something like this...
FWIW...they have sorry attitudes in ALL sports...not just football

continuing...
I justified some of my decisions to keep some of the guys because we "NEEDED" them. I was a 1st time HC, I wanted to win, i thought they gave me the best chance to win. They were stronger and more talented...of course they gave me a better chance "on paper." But...they didnt buy in, they were a constant headache. 4 years later i would have been better off now if I had cut those kinds of guys lose.
