this is kinda interesting, I have worked for 2 different teams in the past 2 years and neither one has the playbook written out. All we do is just tell the kid "this is what your doing" now do it.

3000+ kids in school, about half that is males. of that 1600+ we have about 100 out. although about half of that was on the freshmen level and half of those are not going to come back.

Well, the thing about starting JD McCoy over Matt Saracen is the fact that you'll have to realize that Saracen is going to take it out by dating your teenage daughter, whilst making you feel like a tremendous jerk. But Mr. McCoy and Buddy Garrity will be pleased. someone's been watchin Friday night lights.

Yes, more people watch football than matball, yes more football players use the weight room than other students, and yes football will raise the money, but that means very little in an argument. Like it or not there are hoops to jump through. If you jump through them properly then who cares if they're happy or not--it was Admin that approved it. If you skip a step because you think you know what's best then don't be surprised when someone makes a stink. Even college football programs have to adhere to some university guidelines and we know how much money they bring in. "Yes, Dean Jones, this high school student can't meet our entrance requirements, but we figure that those requirements are for kids who will graduate in 4 years and more people go to a football game than graduation." Come on. If you do it right then let them complain all they want. If you get what you want why do you have to be right too? If you want to be right then you won't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need. GPoulin, this is not pointed at your condition. Sounds like you did it right and they want to have a gripe. Be happy you have what you want and be prepared to add to it in the same manner. Irish are you quoting a song here? It just seems a little familar.

J.T. Curtis does talk about how to attack different defensive alignments. He has a few DVDs out on it so I would think that falls into how to call a game. To say calling an offense is easy is being a little simplistic. In some systems yes it is much easier and in others well it is much more difficult. Look at the good offensive teams and it is clear they believe in executuion. Getting the most out of reps and teaching. Smith Center, Clovis East, J. Curtis, Louisville Trinity, De Lasalle, and the list can go on. Yeah, well, to all you guys who think offense is "easy," I say that ANYTHING can LOOK easy when you get into my "WizBang" formation and shift to an unbalanced trips surface (we call it our "Biochemical Warfare" set, but if you think you can come up with a cooler name, have at it chief), where we can dictate the force defender and read off his drop, deflecting off the Alpha read, and getting under the rotation. You stick the shade, and wheel the dog, and your QB must decide to "Quincy" or "Matlock," depending on whether or not he sees MOFC or MOFO. If we've schemed it right (and, we usually do, thank you) you will see the flank is closed, which allows your H to turn down and throttle into the vacated lane. If they drop down, then we will check the QB from the Pistol into the Pea Shooter, and we'll unleash our Warp Drive Sweep Series on them, which is pretty much unstoppable unless you are allowed to have 17 defenders on the field at once. Vince Lombardi even said so when I went to his clinic the other day at Georgia Tech. It's just that simple, men. Thanks I now have a headache just from TRYING to read that.

so pretty much your dealing with the parents on this not the kid. if im not mistaken that school is very hands when it comes to parents and kids. If you dont mind me asking what exactly are you planning on changing or keeping the same once you get there? I understand about the move. From what I have heard it is a very nice school, very young in the football department. In fact I dont think it has been around too long. interesting this is there is only one way to go from where it is now, and that is up. Im sure you will enjoy the experience once you get here. good thing is you will have a decent amount of time to get things put in place before your first game. I wish you luck. If you need to know where anything is in town just ask I have lived here almost my entire life. I may be young but I know my way around town.

coach im from the orlando area and im pretty sure I know where you are going. CFCA if im not mistaken. In fact Im over at Olympia which is literally right around the corner from where you are going to be. It should be an interesting experience for you, especially since it is a very small school with a very hands on parent group. The QB is pretty good, I know he threw for over 2000 yards. I think he maybe a little scared in what may happen to him once you have gotten there. Have you had a chance to call him and see what is going on with the rumors? Just so you know, you will end up playing OJW next year. Good luck with that he went 10-0 with a very nice team this year. If you dont mind me asking what made you decide to leave texas and come to central florida?

I would say the order of the big three are Florida, Texas then Cali. I agree with western PA being known as a hotbed for QB's.
I have a feeling the UA game is going to take over in the next few years as THE game the stars want to go to. its a shame because I like how the army incorporates the soldiers into the week of practices and such.

We had an assistant whose wife gave birth on game day and she booted him out of the hospital after their kid was born so he could come to the game. My second son was born during the season, but on a Sunday so not only did I get to coach on Friday, but I didn't miss my beloved college games on the Saturday either. After two (yes two) vasectomies, my third son was born during the week of our Senior Bowl, so I missed most of the practices but still made it to the game. All that being said, as much as I love our game, I would not even think of missing the birth of my child for a game. Oh, and yes, the third kid looks like me. You have some mighty determined guys in there.

The NCAA is going to have to step in and stop this kind of thing. It is almost as if they have agents before they have ever done anything in college. Its gotten pretty ridiculous in basketball, especially with the "one and done" kids, now its spilling over to football.

AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE!!!!! Good Lord. I had a kid come to me the other week and said he was going to miss some workouts because his AAU team had practice. After talking to him for a little bit he tells me that his AAU coach told him he was is starting center and that he had to be there all the time because the team really needed him and that he could get a D1 scholly for basketball. this kid is 6'3 250 and my starting NG. I about flipped a lid. We have been joking about "baby Shaq" ever since.
