Since spring ball is about to start. I was curious about what do you guys do during spring ball if ya ll are a run heavy team.
I know spread teems in high school benefit allot in 7 0n 7 drills and there is even some form drills that you can work on. Some option teems could work on timing I'm assuming.
But what do you guys do that only throw the ball 10 times a game and mainly run power ball do during the spring. Do yall just stay in the weight room?
This doesnt pertane to me im just curious.

spring football is spring football isn't it? i mean, if we are talking about actual spring workouts where you get to put on the pads, etc. it's pretty much the same as what you would do in the fall. just more basics, fundamentals, etc. shouldn't be anything drastically different philosophy wise from a run team to a pass team.
now, if you are talking about non-pad stuff, well, that would be different i guess. but, still focus should be on fundamentals, footwork, alignments, assignments, etc.

Every team can benefit from lining 'em up, working on fundamentals, and getting a feel for what they have going into the fall. Spring practice is also a good motivational tool for the kids to keep them excited about football and coming to the weightroom over the summer.

Fundamentals, fun, and introduce any changes that you are going to be making in the fall.

Rep plays vs bags and shields, play action pass, pulling and double team drills, timing and footwork, reps and more reps.

Define "spring ball" Here in Louisiana, Spring ball is 15 days of full contact, with a few early days as acclimation.

im refering to no pads like it is Teaxas. Also Texas has a great 7on7 program. 4A and 5A (the two largest classifications) can opt for to have spring ball in Texas. The lower classification can't. If you have Spring Ball then you start Fall practice later than those that opt not to.

Texas has a great 7on7 program. yes we do. highly organized and competitive. governed well. rules, guidelines, and procedures that are established. not to mention that one of their 7on7 board of directors is one heck of a guy ...

in CA you get 10 days no pads. skill guys can do a lot because they dont make any contact anyway:)
but it is hard for my lineman. Ill work a lot on stance, get off and first steps. we will drive the sled and work some blocks on guys holding bags

I don't know if this is still true, but it used to be for many players that spring football was rugby.

guys watch yourselves... i dont know about everywhere but in my section... if you do anything football related besides weights and running outside of your alloted spring ball days, then you get in big trouble. It is completely against the rules. talking possible forfeits, and playoff bans, and coach being fired. No teams here ever get caught just saying it is in the rules in some places

No teams here ever get caught just saying it is in the rules in some places Growing up i guess we reaped the benefit of being a small farming community with great senior leadership, We would get together on every other weekend or so from may-july and would rep things as a group usually had 20-30 of us. Seniors would just call the juniors, and juniors would have sophomores they were responsible, they'd set a place usually at one of the captains farms we show up with a few balls, and run plays/7-on-7 for a few hours on Saturday, I wasnt a captain so i never knew if the coach had any input, but the three years there were the best combined 3 year record our school had seen in 25+ years.
