yes Texas has alot of talant Calli as well as Florida. I would say Western PA and areas right outside Pittsburgh gave the world the best QB'S. Joe Montana, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino

I would say the order of the big three are Florida, Texas then Cali. I agree with western PA being known as a hotbed for QB's.
I have a feeling the UA game is going to take over in the next few years as THE game the stars want to go to. its a shame because I like how the army incorporates the soldiers into the week of practices and such.

all of the "all star games"
are total bs
if i was a kid i wouldn't play
if i was a college coach--i would tell them not to
as a hs coach-- i would also tell them not to

I use to watch the Army game every year, but it seems that recently more players that are at the top level of rb, wr, and defense are going to ua. I have watched both the past two years, and the level at the army game seems to be going down.
Plus last year SC had like 6 guys in the ua bowl, only 5 played because of an injury from the season, plus some of the gamecock recurits from other states were in the ua game.
The best player in SC has already accepted his invite to the Army game for next year, so I will watch that.

With each passing year, the recruiting process is growing more retched. Same with the NFL DRAFT. Potential seems to be outpacing production in the sports world, and it WILL result in bad things for the future.

I agree. With each passing year, the recruiting process is growing more retched. Same with the NFL DRAFT. Potential seems to be outpacing production in the sports world, and it WILL result in bad things for the future. how much is due to the proliferation of all the "recruiting experts"? also, does one define the "best" as in the state with the most total D1 signees? the most overall? the team that is crowned the "national champ" ... or the depth of those teams (i.e. what if a 2nd tier team in State A beat the over-loving dog out of a 2nd tier team from State B? ... even though State A has the "national champ" or produces 15-20 more D1 signees that State B) that's the last i'll post on the "best" state argument for a while ... senseless debate in my mind. but, to get back to recruiting. tog and coachd have hit on something... seems like prognostication has become a big business and everyone is creating their own 5-star lists.... who really knows anymore?

when you have recruiting experts calling kids bums in the media you have to wonder if we have gone to far. these kids are just 18 and they are treated like kings.

I agree with Tog - the games were boring. The producers of the games would like you to believe that you can expect play after exciting play from the future gamebreakers of college football. In reality, you have kids that have less than a week to learn the plays, mesh as a team, all the while dealing with all of the distractions used to lure the players from one all star game to another.
One of the coaches I used to work for was invited to coach 1) because he has done very well in his 7 years as a HC and 2) because one of his DL was a top recruit. I forced myself to watch the game, and was disappointed.
But where do the best come from... I am biased having grown up and coached in Miami, FL. We have an advantage over many states. Sunshine and the month of May (20 days and a game for Spring practice). Now I am in Georgia, and let me tell you, we've got some some horses and hoss's here. IMHO there are some HS's that have kids ready to transition right after graduation to make an impact - When DJ Williams came out of De Lasalle and enrolled at UM, he was a MAN.
