I loved how Gruden did the back handed comments about needing work. Belichick was good.

Georgia practice on our field before their bowl game. Richt had everyone who was hurt walking around the track, even the kids with torn ACL's. Of course this wasnt right after they tore it, but you get my drift.

Well boo on that state. Im in Florida and were about to start up spring practice the first part of may. first 3 days are "conditioning" then we get 17 with pads plus a spring game. It will be full go on the hitting, except for the QB.

I honestly thought I had a kid that could have played significantly on Saturdays and maybe get some pro-looks. 6'4" 235lbs...was a freak of nature in our neck of the woods! Would have benefited from a collegiate weight program and maturation (he graduated from HS at age 17). He and his parents also think he can go pro...in basketball! Heck, I've always thought the odds of going pro in basketball were worse than football. They turned down several D-I football scholarships so he could play NAIA b-ball. Very disappointing. He's their 8th man...rarely gets any legitimate playing time! It is always sad when they turn down a D1 scholly for football because they think they have a chance to "go pro" in basketball. I wonder what him and his parents are thinking now about their decision.

How dare you sir. That kind of malicious posting will not be tolerated. Now that calipari is gone maybe we can have a shot at the CUSA title. even though I graduate this summer (finally, took my sweet time) Im looking forward to what the football and basketball teams will bring to the table.

The certifications are nice. The logic is unsound. Nobody has convinced me why strength training absolutely must occur in the presence of a coach and the team but it's ok for conditioning, stretching, agility drills, and running to be done without, let's say, the track coach. My point is here it is impractical to suggest these kids should have a coach present for every exercise. I am not trying to be argumentative. Clearly, there are benefits for some who are motivated by training in groups. Others may benefit more from individual workouts. Some of the NFL players forego $250k bonuses in favor of the individual workouts. All I am saying is don't discount the Dad and your team training concept is not the end all be all you promote it to be. I am not trying to be mysterious. I coach 9-10 yr olds in Sterling Va. I am not an adult in a rec league. The semi pro league I play in is helmet and pads. I am 46. Last weekend my son and I set up agility poles and cones and ran as part of our off season work out. We tied a rope to our waist and pulled a tire up a hill. I bought a sledge hammer (small one for him) and we hit that same tire to develop the core. We have the heavy bag and 2 sets of boxing gloves in the garage. Last year we ran the track at the HS and jumped the hurdles and ran the bleachers. They locked the gate this year. If LA Fitness would accept 8 yr olds I would have brought him in there with me to work out. It's laughable to think I will not have impact on his game. We are working more in the off season than most. As he gets older and we enter the HS football locker room and the strength coach with all the certifications is giving his attention to the fat boy who at 8 was home playing video games all day, you can bet I will pull my son in a heart beat if he's not being challenged. And I will sit down with the HC and let him know why. I am all for team but I am practical too. I played enough to know when it's fourth and 1 in the opponent's red zone and everyone makes their block it will be up to you as the RB to get the first down. You are given that opportunity because of your unique, individual skills. You can execute because you put in the work necessary to make you a winner. You won't execute it if you believe the fact you motivated Jimmy during his clean pulls will make you better. Football isnt a you sport its a we sport. I tried bolding all of the "you"s in your last paragraph but it didnt take. total of 9.

I cant wait for it to start. Neither can the kids. The upper classmen cant wait to get pads because some of the younger ones have been running their mouth in the wieght room and in their words they cant wait to "Bang" them. and its not like the freshmen dont something to boast about, some of them are actually doing about the same weight as some of the up coming seniors.

We do something similar, at the beginning of the year the faculty is matched with a player and they become their school parent. They give them goodies and stuff on fridays.

Ya Oleary was pretty much vilified in the media after one of the kids died, and the only reason he was seen as a monster was because he didnt want to talk to the media and "seemed" like he was trying to cover something up. Theres a reason the sentinel is called the "Slantinel". I have met him a few times and yes he does come off gruff but overall a nice guy. I even took their "coaching football" class because I needed an easy summer course. can you believe thats an Upper level course? It was easy as pie. I love going to the games on saturday just for when they play this one song (cant remember the name, Zombie nation I wanna say), everyone in the stands starts jumping up and down its great, its sounds so loud underneath. Another reason UCF doesnt get the respect it should is that they just cant seem to string winning seasons together, we go from having the 2nd leading rusher of all time and winning the division to barely winning a few games the next season. Its a little frustrating.

the thing I have never understood about Oleary is that he is just now really trying to recruit the C. Florida area. It always seemed like he ignored all the good kids that come out each year.

I actually go to UCF. They are the 6th largest university in the nation. they have been around since '63, but were known as florida tech university back then. that new area that has the stadium, arena, housing and psychology building are about two years old. anything else you wanna know about it? Where are you located that you were able to come and check them out?

I know we like to rag on soccer but our starting FB/DE/P/K was a soccer player. That somab!tch is one of the toughest kids I have ever met. He turned down a couple D1 offers for kicking to play FB at Charleston southern (and kick). one time he was kicking onsides and laid out two kids with one hit and recovered the ball. Now was I?? oh ya, We got together with the midget (or whatever the top classification is) in pop warner and now their going to run our stuff. also I second the doing an assembly in all the middle schools that feed into yours. our spring ball doesnt start up until mid may, at that time our HC and a few others go over to all the schools and "talk" (tell them to be at weights this summer) to the 8th graders.

or is it brain science? You can always just post them in the general section and then a mod will move it, just like they do with other posts.
