Our district pays 10,000 for one. She is at all contact football stuff and most everything with the other sports. The last place I was at the major sports medicine place provided one free, and any injured kid was referred to a Dr. at the clinic.

Any drug/alcohol related incident at our school puts the kid on a contract, the next mess up gone. Had a kid get caught with pills around our last regular season game, was put on contract got in trouble again over spring break now he's gone. His punishment when he returned after the first time was 25 backpacks, push a 25 lb weight from one sideline to the other n lunge it back.

We use the state's eligibility rules as far as minimum, these are fairly easy to maintain to be eligible. We punish for what we consider lack of effort zero's. The first of each month every grade below an 80 we look at and they do punishment for every zero they have in that class. Out of season we also have a weekly study hall that they go to on one of our non-lifting days if they have any grades lower than an 80. Each coach takes some to their classroom the kids do school work and this gives my assistants some time to grade papers and catch up on anything in their classroom. I take the kids who have no grades below an 80 outside.

We had a similar situation last year. My freshman QB could have started on our Defense the entire season, but I knew that he would be my Varsity QB as a sophomore. He went trough 2 a days with the varsity at QB, and then played his entire 9th grade season, and then we moved him up and he started the last 3-4 games at safety for our varsity. Because I knew that he would be my QB this year I thought it was more important for him to get QB reps to prepare him for this year then to have him not play QB for a year and then be put back. I didn't dress him on Friday nights because my varsity backup was fairly capable, but if my starting QB would have gotten injured last year I would have pulled this kid up that next Monday.

Agreed, have done this before also. Putting a couple of long water hoses together and dragging them across the field before practice helps a lot with the dew.

We have a school wide fundraiser that pays for everyones letterman jackets when they letter. Each kid has to sell 10 $5 dollar chances on $4,000. I have to raise that much money, so if baseball has 20 players 20x50 dollars per player = 1,000. If I don't the extra is taken out of my budget. So if they only raised 850 then the extra 150 comes out of your budget.
Anyway, I had about 8 not do it or only partially do it. So I am making them enter our Miss Stang pageant and dress up like a girl to make up for their lack of fundraising. If they decide they don't want to do that then I am going to get rid of them.
Is there something you could have this kid do to make up for the lack of fundraising?
We do a lift a thon also. I tell them you are all required to raise me $60 dollars. If they don't bring me any money they have some punishment work. I had several kids quit last year because they didn't want to do the punishment.

All Head Coaches at our school are required to have a twitter account. There are several guys on here that I follow and they will tweet out football stuff also. I use mine for parent communication, and also I retweet alot of motivational quote type stuff. The other thing I like is it can be good PR for other sports, If I am the administrator at a golf match I will snap a few photos and tweet them out. My principal will retweet them and parents of kids in other sports will see that I go to and care about more than just football.

Our staff paints ours for every home game. Usually that first home game we don't leave until like 8-9 that night. Alot of times we break it up and do part on Wednesday and part on Thursday. Sometimes it is Thursday and Friday depending on weather and stuff.
We pretty much just do the basics. We put Notre Dame lines in each endzone and we have our logo at midfield. During October we put pink ribbons on each 25 yard line.

We use pioneer also, We use a 5 gallon pressurized sprayer and then buy some aerosol to use for logo's. They also make a bigger aerosol can that will keep you from having to change cans as much, just takes an adapter. My rep is great, and can usually have me whatever I need in four days.

We do something we called backpacks, the kid takes a 25-45 lb plate and pushes it from sideline to sideline and then lunges with it over head back. We use these for 0's if they get them, and will use them for things such as being late or whatever else this year.

This past season all we did was 5 minutes of high knee, kick your butt, carioca, and lunges. They then went to their position coach for five minutes to continue loosing up, by doing some position specific stuff, and then we went on into PAT and started practice. We didn't have any injuries related to not stretching that I know of.
Using our RB's for example they would do 5 minutes of High knee , etc. then 5 mins with position coach jogging across the field catching pitches, then 5 mins doing noose (during PAT), then 5 mins doing ball security (during punt), then we usually had some kind of 5 min 1vs1's (either goaline/3rd down/etc.).
You have like 20-25 minutes a day where they are "warming up" doing something.
I am always looking for a better way to do things though.
Does anybody see a problem with this?

We have our kids come in 4 days a week through the month of June, We lift 3 and do stations outside 1. We also do 7v7 versus some other schools on Mondays. Our state has a mandated dead week usually around the 2nd week of July (coincides with the state coaches clinic) and my school adds a second week to it. So this summer from the 4th through the 19th of July I can't be with my players at all. We will then come back for 2 weeks, and lift and have a mini camp, where we install all our special teams and do some 7v7.
We usually start our workouts at 7 lift around 50 minutes then do some form of running/conditioning after that. Usually they are done around 9.

We do have done it the last two years. Last year I required them to get 20 pledges of at least a penny per pound. I told them that at a minimum they would owe this amount and if they didn't get the pledges to cover it they had to. This year I just said you all have to raise atleast 60 dollars, if you want to go out and get pledges, or if you want to just pay 60 bucks. I like the idea of opening the max time up to the public, we may look at that next year to get a little more involvement.

We have red Nike game jerseys with screen printed numbers. We have got two more years in them the only problem we have had is our screen numbers have a nice pink tint to them. Don't know if tackle twill would have kept this from happening or not.

I turned 18 in Sept. of my senior year, and at 32 I wish I would have been held back. I would have been able to play my Senior year and had been 19 most of it. Here as long as you are 19 after Aug. 1 you can play. Had two friends who failed the 6th grade and they played their senior season of high school while I was a freshmen in college. My son is 9 right now and I haven't decide if I would do it for him or not, one because is sister is only a grade behind so they would wind up in the same grade if we held him back.
The last school I was at has one Boy's basketball state championship, all 5 starters had been held back.

We give a hit stick but don't take it to the games. We also give a hard hat award that they can wear to school the following week.

We give skull and cross bones to Special Teams Starters. Everyone who makes the required number of summer workouts gets a spear that goes on the back of the helmet.

I think Prattville in AL does part of their practice in the morning. The kids have first block athletics instead of fourth and so they get them their early do special teams and like inside, and then come back after school and finish up.
We talked about doing it, but just logistically it seemed hard to do during the school year. How do you feed them breakfast, have time for them to shower before class, and those sort of things.

Why do you allow him to come down if he isn't gonna work out? If you miss a work for anything that is not school related you run a mile where we are at. We check role at the beginning and end each day, you aren't there either time you get a mile.

In Mississippi there are 2 different associations completely. They can play each other during the regular season, but playoffs are separate. There are some privates that play in the public school portion (MHSAA) most are catholic schools. Some states add a multiplier during reclassification (alabama I think) so for a private school each students counts as 1.3 instead of 1 to make up for any recruiting done.

How do some of ya'll do your no huddle terminology.
We have done directional words for right and left. and named all our runs animals, 3-step weather, etc.
I have seen where people use series. Also seen where some people still use numbers, and 16 is Inside zone. 16 1 is left 16 2 is right.
Also seen where like Iowa/Indy is inside zone one right and one left. Just trying to get some ideas on what people see as the best way. We have called everything at the LOS, but our looking at giving all 11 wristbands and using a pod system. Thanks
