Just got the head coaching job (last week) Really late in the game but I was going through the equipment room today and found a box full of 16 mm film reels from the 1960's. No idea what to do with these other than toss them.
Whats the craziest thing you've found in your equipment room?

Not too weird, but we found my junior year varsity jersey in the equipment room two years ago. (eight years old, and the only jersey from that year/of that type in there), with my name still on it. We had a full uniform change after my junior year. THROWBACK!

Our former HC saved a bunch of old film from the 70's. We actually have a lot of the equipment to play it.

Are equipment room is like a museum have found some odd stuff.
1) we have scout cards going back at least 15 years. Funny to see how some plays were drawn up when teams first started seeing them in are area ( zone read and midline as flash fake keepers)
2) we have a ton of 16 mm had some of the championship teams from the 70's converted to dvd at Costco.
3) saw a keg painted in school colors I guess back in the day it was acceptable at pep assembelies. Also saw a a 50mm shell painted up that they went to when the keg was banned.
4) tons of old helmets single bars, ones with the oil the different face masks linemen liked over the years.
I haven't digged around in thete for a bit ( we have a different room we keep all are current stuff in) but usally can find something.

16mm isn't THAT old, we watched it up through the 90's. Don't throw it out, put it on DVD and sell copies for fun raisers. You can even sell them on ebay. Guys who played back then probably are old enough to have some extra money and might like to buy a copy. Or even have a special fun raising dinner and show this old game film and see if any of the teachers, coaches, players, admin are still around and would like to attend. Might be a way for a new coach to become part of the family there. Just a thought.

Found a square kicking shoe attachment thing that must be from like the 1950s and a box of raincoats that used to go over your shoulder pads when you were on the sidelines in the rain or cold... Yeah...

You can find a variety of websites who'll convert your 16mm to dvd, I think costco will do it too (I know my parents did it with their old 8mm films.
As for your original question: termites

what did they run there back in the day? Don't know what they ran. But I don't think it was the spread. We set the career passing record in one year last year so in guessing some sort of power from the straight t

it would probably be a good idea to get it converted maybe round up some of the old fellas down at the mcdonalds for coffee or at the barbershop or wherever they hang out--show them the film--round up a collection to get it converted for em so they can see it?

perhaps not wierd, but definetly rediculous. we found a stack of letters from colleges to former athletes that the previous head coach never gave to the kids.
found an old turkey call and a half empty tink's #69 doe-in-heat (deer urine) in the same coaches locker.

Still keep a 16 MM projector in my tool shed along with a few "films". Watch them every now and then. Still love to hear the sound of the projector and "see" all the players sitting in front of the projector and hoping that none of the coaches saw their screw ups LOL. Have put an entire undefeated season on DVDs and have given it to many of the players and fans from that year. On one (a championship game) are the band cheerleaders, etc. It has really gone over big with many of them especially a family whose wife and mom has passed away and there is a great individual shot of her. Also a few of the players have gone to that field in the sky and their children love seeing "Dad" during his playing days. Do not get rid of yours. Keep them but let people know you have them. The memories are precious. If you have a projector be careful of the bulb. They are hard to come buy and a little expensive.

Actually the best....not weird....but best is a coaching jacket that was OLD. I looked in the state title picture from 1972 and sure enough the header was wearing it. It was back when the towns that make up our school were separate. Now this year the head coach from that 1972 title team is back.....as my OC. He's a hall of Famer. Guess what? Forty years later he gets to wear the jacket on the sidelines again. Talk about things going full circle.

When I was in school we became part of a jointure between three school districts. I and the other players never noticed it (we just went about our business) but I'm told that there was a tremendous amount of divisiveness among the fans. I'd be careful about something like this.

40 years later?
Also, is he running the same scheme as in 72? That would be awesome.

Here is a pair of headsets we found cleaning. Can't imagine running down the sidelines with that antenna sticking up way over my head.
