I paint the game field for our team on Fridays. I find it enjoyable and I like to add something to the field each week. So by the end of the year it normally is covered in paint haha. Just curious to see if anyone does this OR if there is anything unique you paint on your field. More or less just looking for something I can add or change up next year. Our last home game we hosted regionals and there was Marian in one end zone and Knights in the other, both startled by our school shield. M with a sword through it on the 50. Little M's on catty corner 25 yard lines and a 1 yard thick out of bounds line. Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

The first school I coached at the maintenance guy was awesome about taking care of our field as well. For homecoming he would paint a crown and a rose on the center emblem. For senior night he would paint the seniors #'s either in an endzone or just below the center emblem. The season in 2001 (after 9-11) he painted a red/white/blue ribbon on the field all year.

I ask not because I want to be catty, but I painted our field one time on the Friday before our Homecoming game because we had a half day that day and it had rained on Thursday night and couldn't do it then and our maintenance guy was on vacation. It took FOREVER and I was exhausted before the game. And I didn't do much more than just the basic lines. I don't know how anyone could do that on a regular basis if they had another job.

Our staff paints ours for every home game. Usually that first home game we don't leave until like 8-9 that night. Alot of times we break it up and do part on Wednesday and part on Thursday. Sometimes it is Thursday and Friday depending on weather and stuff.
We pretty much just do the basics. We put Notre Dame lines in each endzone and we have our logo at midfield. During October we put pink ribbons on each 25 yard line.

We paint a big Texas Tech T at midfield(45-45) 2 5x5 paws in each endzone and the entire border around the field goes orange. We as a staff usually team up on it. We have 3 back pack sprayers so it doesn't take that long. Maybe 3-4 hours, the head coach takes a class out to do all the lines and #'s.

I work maintenance at the school. So I get all Friday to paint the field. Normally painting from 8-3ish depending on the week. I have been painting the fields for about 6 years now, so I got a system down. Normally if I am doing anything that stretches the entire endzone length I will start on Thursday. And you are right, it can be quite exhausting, on your feet all day and under a time constraint. But I find it rewarding when it is all finished.

I started at 2 and had to be done by 5:30 for our walk-through. I just wanted to take a nap afterward. Luckily the team we were playing sucked. We put up 52 points and won by running clock. There's no way I would want to do that every week in that time constraint.

back pack sprayers?
We have a spray machine and we usually can get to the opposite 35 or 25 yard line before it runs out. With that thing we can get all the lines done in 55 minutes, but then it is time for hashes and numbers and that takes for ever.
This year we did it on Wednesdays and then had the junior help a little with the hashes and numbers on thursday.
