Well our only prediction is that we win our county championship. But we have no clue who we will be playing, our schedule doesn't come out until the week of Sept. 13th. We do have 2 preseaon games before hand.
The good thing is we where able to keep our 90% of our team from last year and keep the whole coaching staff. Last year we lost in the 1st round of the playoff becuase of a fumble by us.
Good Luck to everyone this year!
Coach Mike

My son has ADHD and has been playing for 7 years now and I have coach him and other kids that have ADD or ADHD. So to me and I agree with Coach Ub it sounds thoes symptons you are seeing could be a result of other problems in addition to the ADD.

Here is the situation I’m in! Right now I’m the Asst DB coach on Varsity and there is also another Asst DB coach along with the DB coach. Now we all do work well together, but I’m feeling that 3’s a crowd. So I’m considering going down to freshmen to coach DB’s and RB’s and feel like I’m contributing a lot more. Also It’s not a big deal for me to move down to freshman ball either. I would like to know what you guys would do or think I should do?
Thanks

I have the itch big time! We have our equipment issue this weekend and then our pracitce starts on Aug.3 I have the itch for awhile now. I did help our local HS at a Middle School camp last month and also when a hung out with my former HS OC who is now a HC at his camp.

For us the HC recuits his staff. Most are dad's that have kids on the team and some dont have any kids on the team. For this coming season most likley we will have staff we had last season with maybe one new guy, this works out well for us.

I agree totally coach Mike! As a dad I try to coach him up going to and from practice and at home. The one thing that I try to get across to him is that at practice and games that I’m not dad I’m coach. I try my best to not show favoritism, other than the category of being harder on him than the other kids and really I do that more on the car ride to and from practice. The hard part is that I’m is position coach and there is no way around it. What we do has a coaching staff is let the other coaches when necessary or just because work with each others kids. I have been coaching my son now for 5years and its worked out for the most part. Early on it was my wife that wanted me to show the favoritism and my son too! I had to tell the both that he needs to earn the position that he wants that It’s not going to be given to him just because I’m coaching. I also have be fortunate to coach with other dads that have been great in regards to doing there best not showing favoritism towards there own kids, if anything it goes back to being hard on them than anything. I feel like I’m rambling…..hope all this makes sense.

Are draft works like this…. First we have about 2 weeks of evaluation. The first week is skills camp the 2nd week is the 1st of practice but no pads and the kid just get put in to groups. For the most part we have 5 teams at each weigh class 1 American, 2 Central and 2 National. The American team is the best kids, Central is kind of the middle of road kids, and National is made up of 1st year kids 2nd year kids.(Not saying that a 1st year kid or 2nd year kid can make Central or American) So the Draft goes like this each head coach can protect up to 4 kids from the previous year(this includes there own son). But, There is no protecting of players from the American team or coach by a Central or National coach. American picks there team first(they pretty much take the best 16 kids). After that the 2 Central coaches alternates picks when they are done the 2 National coach pick from the remaining kids. Hope this makes sense.

Yes, I agree with what KW said. Get the position coaches to speak on position specific drills. One of our local HS does it that way. Each coach spoke for about 30mins, then there is time after the clinic to get more specific with each of the coaches.

We scout and get scouted(All the teams in our league scout each other) We don't do anything different, we run same plays that have been working for us. Sometime we will run someting different to give them something to think about.
When we scout we just use to game plan, but is doesn't mean we are going to make a lot of changes if any.

The teams that i have coach on avg about 14 kids. The max a team can have in our league is 22. For each weight class there is an A, B & C teams. We do get a lot of kids that come out so normally we have One A team, 2 B teams and 2 C teams. Now i will say that the C teams will carry more than 14 kids
We do like it with about 14 kids, that way every kid gets to start on O or D. With practice we do half-line and/or scrimmage.

Well here is our practice routine(nothing special) First thing we do is get our Qb(s) and skill players and have them pitch and catch! Have 2 lines and both Qb's throwing & we have our O-line doing a drill working on there first step and hand placement. We do this for about 10 mins and then get into our stretching.
We don't do any running after practice and no warm up laps.

Great post and a helpful post I think. I agree with everything there. I was part of a rookie staff 4yrs ago and we pretty much made all of those mistakes other then keeping the offense and defense simple! I think that we managed to win one game that season. At the same time, I am and the other on that staff are much better after learing from our mistakes that season.

Yes, I think it's fair to scout at the pee-wee level. We filmed all of our oponents, and they all filmed us.

I went with the Oilers. I think with Moon and Cody Carlson (?) those receivers were the most productive. Agreed....
