Does anyone use a compatible remote for HUDL? I don't want to spend $200 for a remote. We DO NOT have Mac Computers at our school. Thank you in advance. Coach JR smartpointer on amazon is under $40 and works well if you use a laptop for film i know some coaches also use an app on their cell phone as a remote i love the idea of the bluetooth remote from hudl, but that $200 seems steep

I buy a few composites each year We get the Rubber Wilson GST balls because the Leather GST is our game ball. RBs will use them, centers will snap them Lower levels practice with them (and they get 2 leather balls for games) our QBs never throw them because they flip out about the grip being different so we use it for everything else. They are literally 1/2 the price of a leather one and sometimes you can get them even cheaper The BEST thing to use them for though? Kick Offs I have found, that if you inflate the crap out of them, they become really hard and bouncy... We use bring a rubber one out for kick off, and use leather for offense (Refs let you bring a different ball out you just cant switch balls mid possession. We had our kicker do a bunch of kick offs with each kind of ball Averaged 10 yards more per kick off with the rubber one Is it rubber or composite? what's the difference? not being a D!CK i genuinely use both terms to describe the same thing... They have the NFHS stamp on em they are fine to play with in games like this www.amazon.com/Wilson-GST-Composite-Junior-Game-Ball/dp/B000FABUXG/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1533510629&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=wilson%2Bgst&th=1&psc=1amazon link will go directly to junior size but just click on official size and thats the HS size ball... super cheap right now, i might buy more

I have a problem with guys who keep long hair and go into a professional setting. I’m saying this having been a guy in college with long hair and wore sandals everywhere. I have nothing against the look but once you step into a grownups world it’s time to leave certain things behind. Plus he was wearing his sunglasses during a night game in the second episode...come on man Edit: I also have a problem with 40 year olds still wearing their frat/sorority letters around. The only day it’s acceptable is when it’s a reunion day most Greek organizations have on homecoming. Otherwise all I see is the guy showing up to high school parties wearing his letter jacket from 1985 OK, but who do you think comes off as the absolutely least professional? It's got to be the HC IMO. but he's real he never claimed to be mr professional straight laced boring head coach guy he's abrassive... hes gonna cuss and yell and piss people off but he is going to Recruit top talent, he is going to Win, and he is going to get kids out of there to the next level He took a terrible team and did more in 2 years than they had done in the 30 prior to that. I am sure he/football has brought a ton of attention, students, and money into the school/city I loved what he said about coaching being overrated..."if you have the best player on the field he will run through 11 dudes if he believes in you" i've been there lol

Just finished.
1. The more I watch this the more I dislike the QB coach... he just comes across so fake and whiny
2. The QB can’t control himself at moments but I actually feel bad for him... when you see how his dad talks and has taken control of him you actually start to feel bad for him. He has so much pressure on him and doesn’t seem like he ever got to be a kid
3. I don’t know how you can watch this and not like the head coach... yes he’s off the hook. Yes he’s arrogant. Yes he appears underprepared each game... but he’s always been successful and most of what he’s saying is actually right... he doesn’t always express it in the most eloquent way... but for the most part he’s right

I have read many thoughts on Monday’s practice and got me thinking about what everyone does on Thursday? We do a helmets only walk through. The older I get the more I hate it. I have thought about going at least helmets and shoulder pads so no freak injuries happen during team. I am very curious to how everyone handles Thursday’s? A few years ago I changed to full gear on thursdays not for any sort of injury reasons... but because when the kids wear just helmets they seem to screw around more/be less focused Being in full gear has seemed to help guys feel like it is more of a real practice, and not going through the motions waiting til friday night

Our school honors a Male and Female athlete of the year every year. It is for the top senior athlete.
The coaches submit nominations to our AD... he puts the list together and emails it to all of the Head Coaches and we vote
We can vote for whoever we want but we all strongly take playing multiple sports into consideration
They get an award and their name gets added to a huge banner of past winners that hangs in our gym
A kid who is really good at 2-3 sports is going to get it over a kid who is Amazing at 1
Technically Najee won it his senior year only playing football that year... but that's because he graduated early so he couldnt play basketball or run track like he had his junior year

I changed this last year.
Historically it had been for us a film day, some chalk/gameplan and a BS "walk thru" type of install practice
looking back it was a waste.
Last year I changed it to a Full practice. We still do a film/chalk but we wear full gear and have a real practice.
I work our 1st/2nd down plays... the stuff i am going to call over and over on the "normal" downs

Hey everyone This year we are moving from a 3 team pre-season scrimmage to a 4 way scrimmage. In the past I have never been a fan of these because I think its more risk for injury but we are in it now and committed so I am just curious as to what are some of your favorite formats for a productive 4 way scrimmage? All of the schools in ours will be smaller rosters between 20-30 kids per varsity squad. Appreciate any suggestions thanks here is the exact schedule i use one tab for JV schedule, one for Varsity docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xrefZinOlZlh6OQ-sZPnmED6dUbwWRlkT4UZLvjXKaU/edit?usp=sharing

I would need to see what his program looks like before deciding i would let him (or anyone else besides me) take over the lifting for MY football program
I would also want -control of my staff -ability to get ALL of my program into a weight training class -ability to bring teachers in to coach -full control of our budget

my new one that I love to hate is "how you do anything is how you do everything" I hate it for many reasons, most importantly that it is just completely absurd. I mean really? everything? so when it's 10:00pm after a long day and dishes need done you go over every surface of each dish with a toothbrush and then map out the perfect dishwasher layout so that each piece gets maximum coverage from the water jets and steam? ...or maybe you are like me and you spray some water on those mofo's and chuck em in there any whichaway that will fit and go on about your life. the whole quote reminds me of the type of people who obsessively iron their underwear and practice having human conversations in the mirror, those dudes end up with dead bodies buried in the back yard....regular people are lazy sometimes and make mistakes why can't we just act like regular guys and let players know it's okay to act like regular guys too my position coach in high school was an old guy that had coached 40 years...we had a saturday practice toward the tail end of two a days in the blazing sun...coach gathers us up and says "look...it's freaking hot and none of us feel like being here doing these same freaking drills over again...but here we are so I'll try to overcome it and coach ya'll and you guys try and get some good reps as we go and after a while we'll be done and we can drag our carcasses home" not the kind of speech that they put into movies or that make a coach look like an ultimate leader....... but we had a good practice and we all loved that coach for never acting like a douche and giving us a bunch of stupid cliches like "how you do anything is how you do everything"...and as I got older and wanted advice about something he was the guy that I would call yeah yeah yeah I'm a cynical jerk and I need to read a book by flip flipping flippen or some other self help con man to change my perspective and grab the bullhorns of purpose driven life thank you my first thought it you actually dont need to pre wash your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher (most of the time) I read an article that says it wastes a lot of water per year because the dishwasher would've gotten it clean anyway related to your question... everyone says trust the process now EVERYONE i have started telling people that the process trusts me

3 hours per day, 4 days a week during summer
That is 3 hours total... counting transition time between weight room and field, counting the 10 minute break i give them after our Sprint/Agility work
We are currently doing the LEAST amount of FOOTBALL we have done per day Really wanted to focus on weight room and Speed just touch on football a little bit
Seemed the last couple years our kids were burnt out by mid season

i saw a kid once (on film... played against a team we were prepping for)
he played a game with the guardian cap on
they had green helmets... his was black and it made his head look like a gigantic bobble head you just saw this massive black Circle running around the field
i had to ask our opponent before our game... what the heck was on that kid's head? on film?! he played with a guardian cap, no one asked him to take it off

haha good story
reminds me of a moment last year
i keep a tv with iphone adapter in my room
kids eat lunch in my room and i dont mind if they plug it in to play video games on the bigger screen... one of our kids is playing a video game with his iphone connected to the screen... his GF was pissed about something and mustve sent him a dozen texts cussing him out, the previews kept popping up on the screen... he could not pull the plug on his phone fast enough and the entire team roasted him

Baseball team made it to the semi-finals and lost to eventual state champs. Won first game, lost second game in 9 innings (hs plays 7), lost third game. The team that beat us went on to sweep championship series 3-0 and 11-1. So we did not start spring training until Monday. 4 days of practice. Last night we played the two teams that beat us last year. Both were 2016 champs and 2017 runner-ups. The second team we played already has five kids with d1 offers and have 3 more that might get them. One of our better players hurt his knee Tuesday. 6'3" 250. Should be back in 4-6 weeks. Anyways, we played both teams one quarter each. Finished up 27-0 in first quarter, and finished up 9-8 in second quarter with a stop on 4th and 1. I highly encourage every coach on here to invest in high handle trap bars and get after it. We have three kids pulling over 600 pounds on them and our team average max right now is 425. Starters average 487. Baseball players got after it all baseball season in the weight room, as did basketball players who won state. Our kids are bigger, stronger, faster. We have always done really well in the weight room, but these things are a difference maker. I really believe that. We can fly. The video at the top of the link is highlights from last night. www.hudl.com/team/v2/14720/Boys-Varsity-FootballI am a big fan of hex bar DL... i use it a lot in the pre season and during season off season i will typicaly go with a regular dead lift but i think hex bar keeps them fresher... shorter ROM (most hex bars are a little elevated) and the movement is easier on the lower back i remember reading somewhere about a study done ( i think on soccer players) and they had a direct correlation on their sprint speed and VJ with their hex bar DL... the guys who could hex bar the most ran the fastest and jumped the highest

Only problem i am having now is these kids grades some of them love HS so much they want it to be the best 5 years of their life Hahaha thats because you teach in Antioch!!! When I was at Deer Valley Years ago I swear we needed a redshirt program. i swear someone goes around to the middle schools and tells all the kids freshman year doesn't count/matter i am not joking... a dozen+ kids a year really tell me that

We do a liftathon fundraiser that we attach to our spirit packs.
If they bring in $150 they get their spirit pack (I think it is a pretty good value for how much they get)
They can fundraise the money and bring on lift a thon donations from other people to get to 150 or if they want their parents can just pay it
a few parents just cut the check, most of our kids will hustle and get as much as they can from people donating... and then their parents will kick in the difference
Some of our other fundraisers we have done through companies come with an incentive program... Sell X amount of something, or get X amount of donations and you win some various prizes
