The liftathon thing I don't get That means your kids are flat out saying no they refuse to help It costs Zero money up front We tell every kid they need to bring in 100 We don't get that bit we still make 6k or so every year Our other big fundraisers... Crab feed (6-7k) Car washes (1-2k each but we do 3 of them. This all goes for kids transportation fee) But the biggest is my football camp (14-15k) Coach bdud, what are the specifics of your football camp? What do you charge? How many days? What do the kids get (t-shirt)? I am just curious. We do a camp for our feeder programs (ages 7 to 8th grade), for three days, but we usually only make around $950. We are in a rural setting so I only charge $20 per kid. Curious if I need to charge more. We started an annual golf tournament last year and brought in $14,500. Tons of work, but it was totally worth it in the end. Our camp is different than what most people do A lot of people on here have asked about mine here in our part of CA we have no restrictions to our summers... we can go full pads and against other teams all we want so my camp isnt for youth kids, it is a HS team camp other schools bring their Varsity (and JV if they have the numbers) to my school for 3 days and we do 7on7, OL 1on1s, and scrimmaging against each other for 3 days the camp runs 3-8PM... with an hour dinner in the middle we give everyone t shirts we charge $40 per player for everyone involved this past summer we had 8 varsity teams and 6 JV teams (counting my program) we had roughly 500 players... took in roughly 20k, spent roughly 5k for food, shirts, insurance, getting fields lined

we did swinging gate this whole season... majority of the time we shifted to the PAT and kicked it
but I only remember one instance where we went for the 2 point conversion and did not get it
i believe on the season we were 4 of 5 on the 2 point aspect of it
we were 6 of 8 going for 2 points with our regular offense on the field

You get 1 game a week
Our JV is mostly sophomores... With a couple exceptional freshmen and a few terrible juniors mixed in

Our HC has decided we're never doing another one after that failure. It's hard to raise money inside the community with the economics--our median income family income is only $24,000 (much of that from welfare or disability checks) and we're very spread out through mountains. People don't have much to spend in the first place and we're 90%+ free lunch. Most people here expect to have everything handed to them with no work on their end--a big problem for us in lots of ways. Crab feed... something like that might have potential. I've thought about chili cookoff, burgers, etc. We'll see how that works out. I wish we could do our own football camp, but that's not going to happen. How many kids do you have in your program? I believe your school and program are a lot bigger than us. about 100-120 each year 3 levels, between 30-40 on each team

I agree... mascot name
at my alma mater we were the red devils
the award was the Red Devil Award
it was supposed to encompass a great attitude, work ethic, sportsmanship
at my current school the award is simply called the coaches award
i dislike that name because then it just sounds like teacher's pet (or in this case coach's pet)

I'm looking Into them
Our whole varsity has Revo speeds and we have had way less concussion issues than when we had regular Revos
But the vengeance is way cheaper, one vendor has quoted me almost $100 a helmet less than what we are paying for speeds right now
Is it comparable to the Revo speed ?

Friday Night - My wife puts the 2 Camera Angles into HUDL, ODK, D&D, YL&Hash & Publishes Saturday Morning (About 4 hours) .....Coaches arrive at 7:00 AM. Grade our game film from last night .....Players arrive at 8:00 AM. Watch game with position group for 1 hour. .....Move to Offensive/Defensive groups and watch special teams for 15-30 minutes (depends on number of ST plays) .....Once trade film is in, each coach is responsible for 2-3 columns only for data entry. Once that data is in, they are good to go. Usually finish by about 11:00 AM. Sunday Night (About 1.5 hours) .....Defensive staff meets from 5:00-6:30 at my house. Go over their offense and watch film for about 60 minutes, fill in practice schedules for the week and leave. Coaches are free to track additional columns in HUDL or do additional work for their position group, and the OC/DC have to gameplan, do reports and some additional work, but that comes with the job. i only read the first line of your post... i stopped reading after that and hit the quote button to tell you that you have an awesome wife

Cannot he not play in both games? Here our JV games are on Monday so they can also play on Friday. Also, this situation should be addressed before the season ever starts. It should be your program policy how you handle this situation. If you want, put it in writing. Say it in the parent's meetings. Then there is not a problem when it happens. Many places do not allow you to do both and many play JV on fridays just before the varsity game

As long as he plays significantly
It's an issue we have gotten in all year with our JV staff
They see it is taking their player
We see it as making the player and team better
Realistically a kid will improve more on varsity than on JV because in most cases the level of coaching is better and the practice reps are better
You're throwing them to the fire a bit but it really helps with the following year, things always slow down for a kid in his second year on varsity
We have 5 sophomores and a freshman on our varsity team now. If all 6 were on JV they would likely compete for a league title but we feel having them up prepares them for future success better
It also opens up 6 spots on each side of the ball on JV for other kids to get playing time and develop

I wish we did I hate the post game handshake It's a little kid youth sports thing that somehow got carried over into high school Actually its a NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs thing....you know....the most violent of all team sports. you can't bring up Ice Soccer on this board

Also hate to see players take a knee when someone is injured! Very PEEWEE football IMHO! I hate that as well Being on a knee does nothing to medically help that injured kid When one of our coaches yells take a knee I usually tell them NO We are one step away from handing out orange wedges and making a parent tunnel to run through after the game

it's not band directors I hate
It's the bands, I do not like the noise, i just find it annoying
our band was practicing today while at practice... typical monday walk thru of the opponent for us, but it made it hard for kids to hear instruction as the band played while going around the track... nothing against the band director or kids personally ( i have/had a number of them in class in the past) I just find the music to be annoying

I hate bands
I asked last year very politely if they could refrain from playing when we were on offense Just to help make our communication to the kids a little easier
I asked as nicely as humanly possible
He tells the AD I verbally assaulted him and yelled at him

we haven't done this in the past, but we now have a mom and dad who feed everyone before they get on the bus for all away games
supportive mom and dad, they have a Junior (varsity RB/OLB) and a freshman (JV WR/OLB) and they do this for both the JV and varsity teams before their bus leaves to head home

"It may be cold outside tonight boys, but it's warm in here." (Points to heart) "And that's where we have to play from if we want to win this game tonight!" This is the cheesiest thing I have ever heard a HC say. I only hope that one day I can tell my own team something as lame. Wow That is lame

They discovered they couldn't police all the new technology out there so basically said, "go for it". They can police it if you cross the #s with it, so you can't use it there. Now, here's my question: No wi-fi at the stadium, and of course who knows what you have on the road, how do you get it from pressbox to sideline during the game? I know someone has this worked out. either invest in a mobile hot spot for wifi connection or you can use any smartphone to create a personal hotspot i have done this with my iphone to get wifi on my laptop and iPad this would work anywhere you can get cell reception, so unless you play somewhere no one owns cell phones, you should be ok

Can you watch film from your camera, or just your iPad? Anyone have the rule heading? You can use whatever I think people have been talkin about iPads because of their screen size and their ability to send things back and forth to one another

QB- most high profile position on the field, everyone thinks their kid is a QB
And fat kids who want to be skills

Is there any documentation out there that I can take to my HC?? documentation like a study showing how Spats don't do much to prevent ankle sprains? it is common sense, if it goes over the top of your sock and cleat how could it be tight enough to stop your ankle from rolling
