I have been in a similar situation the past two years, we have 3 coaches that are off campus coaches. Putting the money thing aside, the kids see that they are late all the time and then when they are late for practice one time they get punished. It sends a mixed signal to the athletes in my opinion. Dedicated players come from dedicated coaches. I could care less how much money the off campus coaches get (unless it was more then me of course). Unless there is a qualified coach on campus that is not be payed then it would be a problem. Also if the off campus coaches were to get their pay docked it is not like the other coaches would get it.

Everyone here has probably herd about the tony franklin system one way or another. If not you should look it up!
My question is there anyone out there that has done this sort of thing on the defensive side of the ball. If there is I would love to know about it.

What type of position are you looking for? There are all sorts of coaching jobs in Oregon where I am from! I have a small college 20 minutes away that is literally an easy degree in PE/Health if that is the thing you are looking for. I coached there for 3 years and recieved my masters in PE/Health there.
What position do you want to coach because we are always looking for good young coaches. Our stipends right now are 3,700 dollars and possibly more next fall.
PM me to get more info!!!

That’s easy, don't play them!
I would also make them go to houses and apologize.
Integrity is much more important then winning a HS football game, also learning life lessons

I had a player tear his ACL/MCL and meniscus, during basketball. He was back to full speed in 7 weeks. He ran in the district track meet, and qualified for state, didn't place at state though. I had him doing a lot of pre-hab in the weight room before his surgery. The stronger you get it before hand the faster you will come back. Your age also has a lot to do with recovery time, I say a study that males under the age of 28 recover almost twice as fast as males over the age of 28.
Good Luck with your knee surgery and a speedy recovery.

I don't have any experience with this, but I would suggest getting together with your staff and become very united with the other staff if they are joining yours. Also you are probably in need of some team building activities. I would sell the point that your team can be twice as strong this year. Make sure that the other school kids understand that you are looking for the best 11 players on both sides and thats who will play, and you will not be bias. Thats my .02

I wish we did something like that. It would eleaviate a lot of kids missing a day or two throughout doubles. We have a large groups of kids that just showed up on moday. It was there first day the staff has seenthem all summer. I would load all these athletes up on a bus and take them to a camp ground, then the staff would have complete control over their eating and sleeping habits for t he week. In our school district, school lunches are the main food source for a lot of the kids. I may have to research this and implement it in the future here in oregon!

I know it has been said, but I think there is a big concern with this. DEALING w/ Parents. Parents need to know up front before the season starts what their role is with the program. They need to know when is an appropriate time to contact the coaching staff, and they need to know what concerns they are allowed to come to the staff about. For example, If I was a HC there is no questioning playing time, personnel, or scheme. I have learned a lot the last two years coaching high school football and mostly it has been off the field stuff. I coached 4 years at the college level after playing in college, and I never had to deal with parents. High school football is a complete different world.

Every week we are in the playoffs each coach gets 10% of his coaching stipend. It is not a lot but it is at least something extra from the school saying great job, we appreciate what you are doing!

What I have done in the past and will continue to do is this.
Series - Play Types - Snap Count
00s (0-9) - Draws, Options - Two
10s (10-19) - Gap Runs, Misdirection Runs - one
20s (20-29) - Zone Runs - One
30s (30-39) - Quick Series Pass - One
40s (40-49) - Screens - One
50s (50-59) - Drop-Back Pass (Half-Roll Left) - One
60s (60-69) - Drop-Back Pass (Half-Roll Right) - One
70s (70-79) - Drop-Back Pass - Two
80s (80-89) - Sprint Pass (Right) - One
90s (90-99) - Sprint Pass (Left) - One
We rep this out in fall camp, we give this sheet to the kids and they seem to have no problem with it, we have actually incorporated the New England Patriots system of double snap counts. If you would like more info on that let me know by email or PM me.
Let me know what all of you think about this!

Coaches,
We had 1 O-line over 6 foot, this year. I had 6-7 students in my weight training classes that are over 6'5'' and probably 240ish. They don't want to run at all. They will take zero's in my class every time we run the mile. They don't like to sweat in the weight room either. I have under size linemen that work their butts off and these kids just laying around in 6'5'' size 15 shoes bodies wasting away.
I told the basketball coach last year (both of our 1st years) that I would help him out and coach JV or freshman, because I know how hard it is to find coaches around here, hence I only had 4 assistants for 3 levels of football. We our in our 2nd year of basketball and still without a 6'2'' player on our Varsity. We are a 5a school in the state that has 6A we are a school of 1200 students and the big kids hate sports!

I watch it every once in a while. I don't try to take anything from it but it can get pretty exciting at points. I think the best feature of the game is that the QB must read much faster then in real football. I truly believe that it helped Kurt Warner when he made the transition from bag boy at the local grocery to NFL QB.

I stopped playing after my 3rd year at a small college because of shoulder surgery. I asked my WR coach if I could still come to the practices and help out with drills and things. The next year as I was finishing up with my bachelors, and all my buddies were in there last year of playing I was a student assistant coach. The spring after that I applied for a offensive assistant at another small college in the state and got hired there. I was there for 3.5 years and then took a high school job, because I needed more stability. because I was getting married, and wanted to staying in the area. I was not good at juggling a girlfriend and coaching college football. It was one or the other for me!

I am hoping that there is another person out there that has went through the same hoops that I am going through. I have my masters but I need to get my teaching license in the state of Oregon in the next two years! If anyone has any information that will help me find the fastest way I would be greatly appreciated. I am currently teaching with my emergency license.

1. Just give me athletes that are committed to me and my program, the program will do the rest!
2. 5 Solid assistant coaches willing to put the tome and EFFORT into a full season, no missing practice because of Hunting.
3. Administration that will let the athletes get in the weight room in the same period with me.
4. Parents that don't second guess every decision coaches make, and unteach their kids what coaches just taught them. (Their way is way better apparently!)
I am not joking this is my wish list, but my administration thinks I am asking them for way to much!

Here in Oregon players are allowed to dress and play 5 quarters a week. Same rule for basketball as well. It makes it hard to know if you should play a kids for 2 or 3 quarters in the JV game Thursday night. You might play the kids 2 quarters and then come find out you don't need him or can't get him in on Friday so now he should have played all four quarters.
It is a screwed up rule, that needs to be looked at again, by the OSAA.

1. Manufacture more time with my wife, who is so understanding with me coaching three sports and being gone all the time.
2. Finish my second masters degree! Which I am doing on-line, and is a lot of time everyday, that I have to put on top of teaching full time and coaching full time.
3. I don't really have a weight loss goal I am in halfway good shape sense I teach in the weight room all day and I have to run up and down the court with my JV Boys basketball team. I just want to maintain getting a lift in three or four times a week.

One thing can be that he has it to deep in his palm. Make sure he has a nice pocket so he can fit two fingers between the ball and his palm. Another thing could be his angle at which his index finger is pointing towards the top of the ball. Hope this helps, I just play with QB's throw motion because in reality each athlete is different.

Asep was abolished here in oregon, but if you were asep certified then you are grandfathered into this new one which has left my mind at the moment.

Not exactly sure what the rules are in Oregon. I have only been coaching at the High school Level for 2 years now. Last spring at my high school, we had full pads M/W/F. The only rule was that we had to wait for track and baseball to be done, that is usually around May 22nd for track and June 1st for baseball. Some schools start early and some schools don't do it at all. The OSAA organization does not police it very much!
