Hey coaches, I recently became special teams coach and was referred here by our head/offense coach. We play with a minimal number of players so we don't have the luxury of getting the right players for the right positions. Yet I would like to get a coach certificate and train the players in a correct way to the best of my abilities. Can anybody point me in the right direction on how and where I can get information on that or redirect me to somebody how can help me? Thank you all, for the love of the game, Jeffrey

EDCN 5384 Fundraising: Developing Your Own Clinic and Camp 2. EDCN 5290 Coaching: Getting Organized for Success 3. EDCN 5050 The Successful Coach: Coaching Strategies of the GameThey are all online or materials will be mailed to you and you have like 9 weeks to finish and mail back.

Wait I'm confused. You're looking for like a degree in coaching or a coaching certification? Do they even have coaching certifications in other states? Here you're required to be certified like a teacher to be a high school coach...

Asep was abolished here in oregon, but if you were asep certified then you are grandfathered into this new one which has left my mind at the moment.

In Alaska you had to take an online course through Anchorage University to get certified for all sports for the state. One time thing. Is there a general certification?

No certifications required here in PA (at least not that I'm aware of!). The only requirements are Act 34 and Act 151 (background checks) which are required of any teacher, coach, volunteer, anyone basically.

Here in Kansas those coaches that are called Rule 10 coaches (non-teaching, non-teacher certified) have to go through the ASEP program within a 2 year period from when they start. They do get paid assistant coaches pay. As far as I know there are no Coaching Certificates here.

In Canada we have the National Coaching Certification Program which is transitioning the way it does things but has traditionally broken certification into levels. There have been 3 components to each level of certification: theory (general coaching info), technical (sport specific instruction/training), and practical (on field coaching).
You have to complete each of these components to be certified for that level. I am currently a fully certified level 2 coach, meaning that I have successfully completed the first two levels of this potentially 5 level system. You need to be fully certified level 1 before you can be a head coach and have to have completed either level 1 theory or technical before you are allowed to continue coaching after your first year. I am going to be working towards my level 3 so that I can instruct the first two levels in my area. Levels 4 & 5 are geared towards professional coaches.

THank you all for replying. little update! I'm not from the US, I'm from Europe. Here in my country, football is not recognize as a sport. So I have to seek (professional) elsewhere. I come to the US every year so taking a onside course isn't a problem. for the love of the game, Jeffrey
