anybody have any suggestions. I was just appointed head coach of a high school that will be merging with it's sister school in the fall. the details, i was the head coach of one of the schools for the past 7 years, we have been playing each other on thanksgiving day for the past 89 years, the series ended in a 40-40-9 tie with our win in 2007. the new school opening was just postponed untill sept. of 2009 and we will remain in two seperate buildings that are cross town for one more school year, but we will be one athletic program starting in the fall of 2008. returning are about 30 players from each school. we don't have the facilities to strength train in one school and have to utilize both buildings. anybody have experience with this type of situation? any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

I don't have any experience with this, but I would suggest getting together with your staff and become very united with the other staff if they are joining yours. Also you are probably in need of some team building activities. I would sell the point that your team can be twice as strong this year. Make sure that the other school kids understand that you are looking for the best 11 players on both sides and thats who will play, and you will not be bias. Thats my .02

As it happens I have experience with this because my school became part of a jointure before my junior year and we were all tiny schools. What we did was run split shifts. The upperclassmen, juniors and seniors, worked out immediately after achool and the younger kids worked out later.
Hawke-I think he's thehawke now- was one of my coaches. He could provide a more detailed explanation.
