Read- Clancy, Sandford, Dorsey, RW White, MacDonald (Travis McGee is my mentor!) Work on my old house. Seemed like a good idea when I bought it . I'm on again off again with the running/fitness thing.

What are the differences between leather and compsite? Why would you choose one or the other?

Darin- you need to get some of that Prejeans food in the negotiations with brophy next time. Nobody cooks like those cajuns! So true! We had 6 kids, three coaches and I think 4 dads all on the field going through the same drills with Coach Slack last month. It doesn't matter what they learn at a camp if they don't have the support system back home to reinforce it, so if your QB works with Coach Slack go with him or send his dad. Nepotism or not it's true. I've seen it. I think it's awesome you get to take your sons with you on the road. I know it's tough but you all do a great job! Now about Mark, is there a zero position for golf?

Is it a mental thing? If you control the ball for the better part of a quarter and score, does it put more pressure on the opposition to put points on the board because they're not sure how many chances they're gonna get? I could see that being a factor. Although as you said if you're not scoring it doesn't matter how long you have the ball!

We use a palm with Digital Scout's statware. Soon as it's over we sync it to the computer and can print reports. Had a student do it the past two years as an 8/9th grader.

Another thing we've got is a couple of tent/shelters that are about 10'x25'. They were here when we came on as a staff so I don't know where they got 'em but they don't look too expensive, but they are the only shade we have on the practice field. Would highly recommend to find some way to get some shade if you don't have any. (BTW, next week is our first game week!)

Glad they handed the punishments down. Pacman has virtually ruined all the good will the Titans built up since they moved to town. Nobody outside the area probably knows about it, but when the Titans first got to Tennessee and they were mediocre record wise they had a lot of good character people that were involved in the community. And they got a lot of publicity and good press for that and people were proud to be Titan fans because they were people you could root for win or lose. Now a days it seems like with Pacman's antics and Haynesworth's stomp on Gurode's head all the good reputation the Titans had built up is gone, not just in the Nashville area, but it seems like that's the way a lot of the nation sees them.
On a side note it pissed me off to watch the Titans let Travis Henry go and kepp Pacman around.

How would teams react to it? Seems like if they overloaded or rotated the secondary over you could hit them on the backside with the two receivers.

One of our opponents does this and I think it has some possibilities.
.....Y.G.C.G.T.T.........................X ...Z......Q .................F ............T
They will set the F and the Z on either side, sometimes on the same side sometimes not. Doing some drawing with it I like the idea of putting the Z out in twins with X too.
Any thoughts?

I just learned pivot tables from getting in and messing around with them. This thread should get you started with them. excel threadYou basically put headers at the top of columns in Excel for whatever info you want (down,distance,formation,etc.). Then just highlight the whole thing and select Pivot Table from the Data menu. From there just play around with it and see how it works. Sorry I'm not much help but I only really know enough to get what I need out of it. Doesn't take long to get the basics of it down, tho.

As a side note, I don't know how you compile your data, but getting familiar with excel and pivot tables is a fairly powerful, quick, and easy way to do all the scouting reports.

In season our conditioning on Wednesday are deep balls. We line up in 2 groups: one on the goal line on the hash coming out and one on the 50 on the other hash going in. We have a cone where they start, a cone at 30 and a cone at 40 yds. We tell them they have to sprint to the first cone before they look back for the ball, the second cone is more of a gauge for the coach for where to throw it. They catch it (hopefully) and give it to the other coach and get in the next line. Towards the end we say each line has to catch 10 in a row then we're done, you find out pretty quick who they think can catch or not.

Excellent point. We've got a guy that doesn't even make it back to the coach's office after practice a lot of times. Just goes ahead and gets in the car and leaves. But I guess that's between him and the head coach. (or me and the HC if it really bothers me?)
Finally a definitive answer! Thanks for clearing that up Ted!

They put all of the middle school games in the paper here, actually for most of the sports now that I think about it. Small town, small paper, not much else to report at times. One good thing about having your dad at the middle school is you can get the varsity system installed there.

Hey guys, check this out. Our local middle school had their first game last week. It got a little wild. (Btw, gotta give props to my dad. He's the head coach!)
100-point slugfest: Fifteen TDs scored as WCMS rolls to victory By ROB NUNLEY Sports Editor for the Southern Standard
The circuitry of the Nunley Stadium scoreboard underwent a major stress test Tuesday night, and passed with flying colors by keeping track of the 100 total points scored at the middle school Pioneers’ game against Franklin County North.
The Pioneers and Gators combined for 15 touchdowns — including an astonishing five scores on kickoff returns, three of which came in a row — as WCMS opened its 2006 campaign with a 68-32 victory.
Caleb Northcutt accounted for four of Warren County’s touchdowns, turning in 147 yards on just 10 carries and scoring three rushing TDs while returning a kick 74 yards for another touchdown.
Northcutt made his presence known on the defensive side of the ball on North’s opening play from scrimmage, intercepting a Mitchell Brannon pass which gave the Pioneers possession at midfield.
WCMS fumbled the ball away deep in Gator territory, however, but Franklin County’s second offensive play became its second turnover, when Landy Curtis picked up a fumble, giving the ball back to the Pioneers at the 10. One play later, quarterback Michael Thrower found Tyler Glenn in the right corner of the end zone, and Ivan Barrera’s PAT put WCMS on top 7-0.
The Gators wasted no time showing off the most potent weapon in their offensive arsenal, as they handed off to Brandon Speck, who scampered 67 yards on first down to quickly answer with a touchdown.
A short kickoff once again gave the Pioneers the ball near midfield, and a six-play drive that included a 14-yard run by Thrower and a 19-yard dash by Northcutt ended with Dustin Rhea barreling his way across the goal line from 4 yards out.
Leading 14-6 after a period, the Pioneers allowed North to get back into the game midway through the second, when Speck once again broke a long first-down run — this time from 71 yards out. McKay Boles snagged a short kickoff for the Pioneers after the TD, however, and worked his way through the Gators’ coverage unit 48 yards, helping the Pioneers take a 21-12 lead after another good kick from Barrera.
North turned the ball over on downs, and a 17-yard pass to Curtis was followed by a 25-yard run from Northcutt, who succeeded when given the chance to finish his team’s drive, scoring from a yard out to put WCMS on top 27-12.
By that portion of the game everyone on the Pioneer sideline — and in the Pioneer stands, for that matter — knew Speck would once again be called on by the Gators. But while the WCMS defensive unit stuffed the rest of the Gators’ offensive options, their speedy tailback was difficult to contain, and once again managed to slip past the initial defensive contact before sprinting 52 yards on fourth down to score with just over a minute left in the half.
Any fans who might have considered beating the rush to the concession stand at that point will likely reconsider at the next WCMS game, however, as the final minute of the half saw three more touchdowns.
Glenn started the unbelievable scoring barrage with a 53-yard return of North’s onside kick attempt, and Speck followed suit for the Gators, bringing Christian Gonzalez’s effort back 77 yards to pull his team within 10 at 34-24.
There was still time for another Gator kickoff, however, which meant there was time for another TD, as Northcutt streaked 74 yards to put his team up 40-24 at the halftime break.
Northcutt struck again on the opening drive of the second half, scoring his third TD of the game on a 41-yard run. Cody Robinson recovered a fumble on the Gators’ ensuing possession, and after two short runs from Rhea, Northcutt broke another long run for a touchdown, giving the Pioneers a 30-point cushion and allowing WCMS to clear its bench, giving every reserve a chance to see action in the second half.
Rob Parsley laid a devastating hit on the Gator kick returner, forcing a fumble which Warren County recovered, and then took over in the backfield, breaking off a 23-yard third-down run before scoring from the 4-yard line.
Speck had one more big play in him for the Gators, however, and returned the ensuing kick 52 yards for yet another touchdown, but the Pioneers opened the fourth with a 20-yard TD run by Thrower, who then went in for the conversion and the final two points of the scoring spree.
Thrower completed two passes for 27 yards, and carried the ball six times for 83 more, while Parsley had 34 yards on three carries and Rhea had 21 yards on four attempts. Speck had an impressive 203 yards, needing just six carries to reach that mark, and added nearly 150 more yards on kickoff returns.

How many of your programs get the money from the concession stand on game nights? How many don't? Our band gets ours and was wondering if this is different than most or not.
