Amen, brother. Ever coached a 5-6 yr old team? Prolly very similar to this situation as far as the teaching part. ;D

Think you could get gorillas to run block/tackle each other and it not be seen as an act of aggression? I bet you could get them to run through a couple of basic plays through stimulus/response. And get a defense to react to it. But it seems to me that if it was actually full speed most of the acts in football are aggression/dominance moves that wild animals wouldn't understand the context.

Sounds like a doctoral thesis to me. But did you have to use Peyton? That stings us Tennessee boys. Personally I'd rather see T.O. go across the middle on that defense.

We played a team last year who did that. We saw it on film and for game night we took our 2 biggest/most athletic linemen and put them about 4 yards on either side of the tee. So when their guy came at our kicker we had two guys coming at him. He wasn't very aggressive after our first kickoff. But we had a kicker with about a 70-80% touchback ratio, so we could afford the risk of putting a couple guys on him.

We used them last year. Definitely a lot of stat work if you're gonna do 'em for individual awards (which we did). If we go back to them I'll push to make them more inclusive. We had skill guys that we could barely fit 'em all on the helmet and linemen and scout players who barely had any. I like the idea because the kids love 'em but just be careful about how you decide to give 'em out.

Ouch! I was always fairly ambivalent to morbidly interested in the Dawgs til now. Guess I gotta add them to the {censored} list too. But sorry, you're still way below Alabama, and Florida, and Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame, and Michigan, and Ohio State. Where ya'll at in GA? I'm not far from Chattanooga, used to do some business down that way.

Another Cal fan here (grew up in the bay area) big bear fan. I admittedly was giddy after that win. Tennessee is almost always a great measuring stick to judge how your team is. That was by far the loudest Cal crowd i've ever seen as well. (not S.E.C standards..but good for pac10). I'm positive the Vols will be tough this year. I think both teams need to work on the defensive stuff a bit eh? heh. 45-31 is a pac-10 shootout. I had a friend in law school at Berekley a couple years ago and went out to visit. I love that area. I didn't go to the stadium but we went by it and I like the way it sits in the side of the mountain. I hope they get the tree people situation straightened out and get to expand their facilities. Quick question- how good is Cal's O-line? We got nowhere near Longshore all night. Please tell me ya'll have some studs up there or it's gonna be a long SEC season! Congrats on the win.

It's bad enough I have to sit and watch my Vols get it handed to them. But in my brilliance I get on the message boards and see what the d-a fans have to say. Now I'm depressed and pissed off.
Since I'm talking about being on a fan message board should I have put this in the "conversing with idiots" thread?

Saw Jerry Jeff at the House of Blues in New Orleans on New Year's Eve a few years ago, great show. But I don't think all the Texas A&M and Ohio State fans there for the Sugar Bowl enjoyed us singing Rocky Top in the karaoke bar every night

Sorry, didn't think of that. I did the same thing with the "power trips" thread a couple of days ago. Hope I fixed it. It's about my 14th show and they're all good. (The first was Willie's 4th of July picnic in Luckenbach, '98. Hell of a drive from middle Tennessee, but worth it!)

I just got my tickets for Robert Earl Keen at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville. Woo.Hoo.
"I wanted you to see 'em all, I wished that you were there. I looked across the room and saw you standin' on the stairs. And when I caught you're eye I saw you break into a grin, It feels so good, feelin' good again."

Had to vote for Bryant. Even though my personal pick would be General Neyland. Does the fact that half of my clothes are orange, Tennessee orange for you Texas guys mean I'm biased?

Middle Tennessee, about halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga. But my family is from Knoxville, so that's pretty much my second home.

Just read "Season of Life". Wow!
2 pieces of advice:
1. Read it.
2. Be careful reading it on a plane from Nashville to Houston 'cause you might have to order your coke through very moist eyes.

Back when the Predators first came to Nashville they would have hockey 101 classes for fans new to the game. What do ya'll think about doing 'football 101' for fans, parents, boosters a couple of times going into the season. You could introduce what you run, and why and how, etc. I've heard people talk about doing a film night with boosters during the season. This could be a preseason version of that, or give you something to refer back to if you do that?

On last year's Miami Vice movie soundtrack there's a cover of In the Air Tonight by Nonpoint. Pretty good update. They put the drum crash in all the choruses.

We played a team that's pretty down this year and got up 35-0 by halftime. The new mercy rule in Tennessee keeps the clock running for the second half if it's a 35 point margin. I think I agree with the idea but it may need to be tweaked some. When they say running clock they mean running clock, it didn't stop for anything. We had a stoppage of play to measure for a first down that ran almost 5 minutes of the play clock. They put together a decent drive to open the 3rd quarter (including the measurement) and when we finally stopped them we had time to run 1 play before the quarter ran out. We got our seconds in at the break, but only ended up running 7 offensive plays in the second half. Not much work for the backups.

We're out this week in helmets and t-shirts and shorts. Getting all of our stuff introduced and repped on air. We report Sunday night after church for camp and get up Monday morning and put the pads on. Can hardly believe it's that time again!

We're going through this process over this off season. We're gonna sit down as a staff and get everybody's input on what type of team we want to be offensively. We've been a little of this and a little of that, and have had trouble getting on the same page at times.
AZ coaches, We had a coach here for a couple of years that was the HC at Round Valley. I saw some of his Show Low film. Those boys get off the ball!

We have the New Balance 690 coaching shoes. They are black leather and clean up easy and seem to be very durable. I've been wearing them a year and they're still in great shape. They're comfortable and your feet stay pretty dry when you go out for those morning workouts when there's still dew on the field. As far as support I put insoles in all my shoes anyway so I can't really answer that.

Our best guy with the ball is a WR too and we put rocket sweep in for him. We're finding out it can help loosen the edge for power too.

I just attach them they way they are and it sends it as an *.FBD file. You have to have it on the computer you send it to to open the file. You might also be able to copy it and paste it into Word or Paint and send it that way.

Tennessee- We have 15 days to get 10 practices in, plus 1 or 2 scrimmages (I think it's 2). All full pads. Over the summer we have 7-on-7 games and tournaments, coached by us, and it's pretty much however many you want to schedule. We have a 2 week dead period the week before and the week of July 4th where we can have no contact.
