What people get paid for football over the summer? We put in about 4 days a week from end of May to end of June and then pick up about end of July when school starts.

Something I heard that I really like is " Don't practice until you get it right practice until you can't get it wrong." It may take a little longer to run the drills, but in the end your group are doing the drill correctly is the most important part. Have you thought about starting out with less drills and as the group gets better add more drills.

If the kids from the youth program do not have a choice and have you go to your high school they yes they are a feeder program. But if the adults do not want to say it that is fine. Just keep showing up at there events promoting your school, support they players and keep having positive interactions with the parents and players. Be sure to just let them know if they need anything football wise just ask.

It can be difficulty coaching when not on campus. You have to make sure you have a schedule that allows you to get to practice and games during the week and film on the weekends. I kind of felt like I missed a lot of positive interactions with the players, there would be times during the week I would miss film because it was easier for them to do film in the morning. Once I made the decision to become a teacher it was difficult to leave a job that paid me as well as it did to take a pay cut. As I sit here 5 years later I am still happy teaching and coaching.

Our spring practices is going good as well. Our first week he had guys missing for track and baseball and the second week the same, but this week we have the track guys back. We have the young guys working technic against pads and doing a lot of install and getting them use to the speed and tempo of practice.

We do both static and dynamic. I feel we get more out of the dynamic and rather that we not do the static.

The last couple of years we have gathered our seniors and a select few of our juniors to meet once a week durning the off-season. I would give them a chapter from the Team Captains Leadership Manual to read and then we would discuss the reading and the activities at the end of each chapter. I feel this has help us, but also hurt us, if the kids don't really want to be there. The biggest thing I have take from this is that you have to weed out the kids that don't want to really be there, those kids deep down don't have what it takes to be leaders anyway. The kids that want to be there will get something out of it and you will see it durning the season.

Would this be open to any school that wanted to compete or would it be invite only? I say have it open to any team, then like they do in soccer in Europe if you don't have at least a 500 record at the end you get removed and then a state champion is invite up next season.

How often does your state do conference alignment and what do they use to base it on? In Arizona they do it every two years and they have gone back and forth using sport participation and school enrollment the lasts 4 years.

Heck my cousin's son is 6 playing football in Atlanta and she had him at a speed coach this summer as well as running club track. You do know that that's crazy, right? Yes I think it is crazy, but the really crazy thing is that she posted a video with about 6 other little kids there pushing sleds.

Heck my cousin's son is 6 playing football in Atlanta and she had him at a speed coach this summer as well as running club track.

In Az we do not wear helmets in 7 on 7, it is way to hot in the summer. However some teams are going to those soft shells, by Gamebreaker and other companies. Talking to a few coaches and they like them and the kids like them as well.

Like any tool for students, they have to be taught how to use them correctly. Even as a Special Education teacher, I can not see how they would be helpful durning practice or even on the field at all. I seen some students use them correctly and it has help them do better on test.

The idea of a football 101 class for High school students is a great idea, especially with so many players waiting until their Freshman and even as late as there Junior of high school to go out for football and not knowing anything about it outside of video games and that is if the play Madden.

Not sure if is a rule or not but most HC in Az teach or do something at the school they coach at. The same is not true with assistance some have real world jobs, but if they don't have a real world job most work at the school they are coaching at.

In Arizona the number of days change just about every year from 15 days to 18 days. We start spring practice the beginning of May and end sometimes before finals the end of May. This year we have 18 days, so May 1 to May 19, from 4:15-6:15pm. The guys that are in track will miss days because of meets but that is about it.

Arizona just approved year round practices starting July 1. Does your state allow year round practice and if so how do the smaller schools in your state handle it?
