I think we worry 2 much about the wrong times...
I feel as though I have been a semi-decent HC and non of my 3 AD's in my going on 6 years have been football guys...
The only help I get is I have 10 coaches in my building..
I don't have control of my budget.. I don't have all my kids in weight training... I don't have a football athletic period nor own stadium nor a fieldhouse.
But over the last 5 years we have made the playoffs every year and won region once and been to the 3rd round.
The ? becomes, how many solutions can you create to the problems you might see and if it ain't enough don't take it...

We play Juniors on JV. Whether they get much playing time as seniors on varsity depends on their development

Serious question- what is the point to making kids dress up in ties and things either for school or to games? To me it is uniform, togetherness, 1ness, team ,etc... My kids wear ties to school on Friday.

Hi guys what do you get your players as part of their "kit" for the year? We are in the process of ordering for the fall and we normally do a hoodie, shorts, tshirt, last year we added in team gloves. This stuff seems to really matter to the kids so just wondering what everyone else here is doing. Thanks. Long sleeve t-shirt short sleeve t-shirt shorts Game dri-fit pullover team socks (custom)

We have a leadership council, 4 example right now we have NO CAPTAINS.
They are taught how to lead , vote on items, etc...
Come July the team will vote for Captains, IF a kid is voted Captain he is placed on the leadership council. Only had that happen with 1 kid.

Don't know how productive this thread will be, but anyone know any good Twitter follows/chats that are defense or anything NOT Air Raid/RPO??? Seems every time I get on, my feed is littered with nothing but this Spread RPO/Air Raid. Seriously, does anyone get under center any more??? (I know that answer) Anything Split Back Veer, Wing T, or Pro Style? Here are chats that I do know of: MeshPoint, FlexboneHSChat, 425 Chat...all these are excellent. But, jeez it seems like it's all RPO, Baylor (this is the latest craze), and Air Raid. So if anyone could clue me in on some good ones to follow, that would be appreciated. Also, if anyone has Twitter that posts stuff that I'm not currently following then let me know...and give me a follow as well!!! I got off X and O labs awhile ago for the same reason, for the longest time it was nothing but RPO's . Then you are missing some good non RPO stuff right now. Though I run a sh&t load of RPO plays.

The GA rule is basically someone tells on you or you self report, because we don't submit anything. Plus it starts on Friday night and works through Thursday. It isn't a problem for us, we do play about 10 kids 6 quarters. They all chill with there pads off after Half time of the JV game. JV games can be funny because of the rule I've been. In a few where one team will flat out dominate the first half, then their key guys undress, and the other begins to dominate. Us sometimes!!!! Especially if the kid who comes out is the QB or stud RB

I have one and I pay him.
He runs our freshmen weekly study hall and teaches them study skills. He also does the bi-weekly grade checks. Will email the teacher, me, parent, coach whose child family they belong to find out an issues.
Some of them are made to go to study hall with teachers on Wednesday and Thursday if need be and he verifies.
We have a paper trail.
I care more about my kids graduating than winning a state championship so I INVEST IN IT because I afford to pay for the help.
38% of my football players have All A's and B's last semester 69% finished with a 3.0
That's what we do.

Coach I had a kid like this...
I have a suggestion not 100% an answer.
Our kid was an All-American.
We was suspended for the 1st 4 games of the season because of a summer issue.
The prereq for him getting playing time was making it to morning workouts on time.
He had tardy issues as a junior missed some playing time as well. We didn't run him much had to try alternative methods (Kid is going to UGA on track scholarship 45.27 400, and 20.32 200 running would do nothing 2 him).
This season he knew he couldn't get to play period he was at morning workouts.
During the season we have 3 morning sessions, you miss a series for 1st late more than 10 minutes/absent, 2nd one you miss a quarter, 3rd a half. Chronic guys miss games.
During the off-season you are doing the right thing. Ours who miss pride points, that effects jersey number, helmet and shoulder pad, selection, etc......
During the season he could have to miss games.
Too me that's what you have 2 do.
Our kid was on time during the season. HAS BEEN LATE to 1st period 14 times since the season ended. We have talked he is a D1 athlete next year, everyone has talked to him we hope he gets it together in college but we didn't solve his issue.
Some of you throw away kids to easy for me, our goal is what? Yes, I have and you will have to dismiss kids. Tardies is a teachable thing. I don't know how to solve it with every kid but most we do.

We do our elementary camp in May while school is still in session. We feel we might get better attendance. Maybe, for those with multiple junior high feeder schools this would be doable. I may have to try this!

easiest one is Chipotle night If you have one near you... you can set it up online www.chipotle.com/fundraisersyou set it up in advance... pick a night... they send you a flyer you just need a Tax ID number. During that evening any one who comes in and says they are supporting XYZ Fb team... chipotle donates half their bill back to you HALF! most places it is like 10-20% I go to the chipotle by our school once a week anyway... i know all the workers because i go so often... they started just hitting the fundraising button on the cash register with like every customer it took me all of 10 minutes to set up And i put out a few tweets/IG posts about it we made $2500 off of it and it took no work and no selling anything people love chipotle and it gave everyone an excuse to eat out and support the team Doing that one in a few weeks!

Ours is played around 7:23, we don't come out the locker room to around 7:27... Run straight to the field. If that’s the case, we would never make it either. So, if they play it at 7:23 and you’re on the field, are you supposed to be done with all pre game and everything by then? For most teams here, if you don’t go in the locker room before the game, you do pre game all the way up to the anthem. We are usually off the field around 7:10 to go back in the locker room, but if we were out there we would stop at attention

I have an OC, I call the plays. I gameplan with the offensive staff on Sundays. He takes care of the weekly organization. Everyone on offense understands my thought process and we go from there.

How are some of you guys not out there? In Northern CA, we play the anthem immediately before kickoff. Is that not the case in your areas? We don't make it a point to be out there, we just have no choice. Ours is played around 7:23, we don't come out the locker room to around 7:27... Run straight to the field.

In your 3-5 year plan start with this..
Your mission statement and tell how you will go about fulfilling it from year 1 on..
Don't talk about wins, outside of general goals. Making the playoffs year in and year out gives u chance to win.
Talk about what the kids will be doing and talk about how you will capture their hearts. At the end of the day IF you don't have them loving each other your plans will fail anyway, there is a good chance they could fail if they do love it other, But without it, it's over.

Is not about what the grade says, your team your program the answer to those questions are subject. WHAT is your measurement.
Grading his useful, doesn't have to be hard or long.
Watch the film, write down mistakes that our obvious and you think hurt your team. Even if a good play was made, because those get you killed in the long run. Don't make it tedious, YOU WILL MISS some. You caught 5 big mistakes by your Will LB that should be routine point them out. It was 90 plays so he gets an 85/90. Be done it's graded be happy.
YOU MUST determine that metric and it will be different for every team.
