Our JV season is over (we only play 4 JV games due to the fact most other colleges in our area don't have JV), but I don't know who would give the D a look if he went down.

Yes I understand that but the key is what do you do if the player does not show the behavior you want.

Brophy I would love to do that unforuntly he is the only JV QB we have and we can't stop practice everytime he does this so I can have him run. Believe me if I had more then one QB on JV I would do this but our numbers don't permit it. I mean the only thing I could do is have him do this and put in a RB or WR for him while he runs and that gives our D a bad luck and I doubt our HC or OC would allow me to do this. Believe me if I had two QB's that were on JV this kid would not be on the field with the attiude he currently has. That is why I am thinking I have to do something after practice to show him he needs to chnage his attiude.

Just curious would you support a system where every time the player mouthes off or cusses under his breath he owes you a 40-yard sprint. I am thinking of asking my OC or HC if I can do this but wanted your guys opinion on this.

Heck he is already our 3rd and final qb. However he does start for JV and I work a lot with him while our OC works with the varsity qb's.

I have a situation with one of the quarterbacks I coach in that he seems to lack respect for the coaching staff especially me. When he is told how to correct something he cusses under his breath or will just tune the coach out. I tend to have the most trouble with him in that he is extremely mouthy to me and is very resistant to any coaching I would give him. I know this is partly due to the fact I am a young coach (1st year out of college and he is a college kid), and due to the fact I did not play college football (I was a student assistant at a top 1-AA school).
I told our Offensive Coordinator about this today and he said he would talk to him about it, but at the same time I don’t want it to seem like I am a tattle tale and will tell on my players if they do something wrong. Anyways I was wondering how young coaches or any coach for that matter handles a situation like this.

If you want recruting interest send him to a college camp that is at his level. So if he is a D2 player go to a D2 school camp. If you are jut looking to improve his skills then I would go with the QB Academy

The best two camps for QB's are the Verudsco camps at UNI and the Slack camps.

I like the qb and passing game threads especially when Darrin Slack posts in them.

As a QB coach I stand behind the offense so I can also make sure my backup QB’s are paying attention to what is going on. I also like to ask players about the upcoming play and tell me what each person will be doing, this way I can make sure I know that the backup’s understand the offense. Are DB coach stands behind the defense.

I would recommend the Nike coach of the year clinic manuals. These books have very good info in them and can be bought for around 25 dollars. I included a link that will give you more information about them. I also recommend joining the AFCA. www.nikecoyfootball.com/books.asp

I used to get really into the games when I was working with another team as a student. I tended to do the Spuierr and throw the hat or visor on the ground at least once a game and yanked it off my head a couple of times a game. I did this at the school I am at now at got a big time lecture on how I should keep my composer at all times. Since that incident I tend to stay very calm on the sidelines. I am still a yeller and show more emotion at practice now then I do in games.

I tend to agree with Bulldog on the fact some people that have non-teaching jobs can’t do everything an on campus coach can do. This is strictly due to the time comitment a person has to their job. For example a coach can have a planning period during 8th hour while a person that does not teach can not due this. This allows the teacher to have a lifting session here which the off campus coach can not attend. Basically what I am trying to say is that teachers tend to have more flexibility in their schedule then a non teacher, which allows the teacher to attend more team events.

I think if you are a JV coach or fresman coach you need to play all your players. This is a time for kids that work hard to have fun. My guess is the schools that complain about low numbers don't play all thier players when they are younger. Which then causes these players to quit, and you are stuck with an undermaned team.

I am writing a paper for a class that deals with today’s issues in education. The issue we are looking at is combining grades. Here is my question if you had the two above options which school would you send your child to and why. Also the schools are about the same distance from your house.
P.S. I know this is not really a football question but it is an education question.

Just wondering from the people that have worked these camps before what they are like. Also I see that they have a mandatory meeting at 8 A.M. the day of the camp so do they allow you to stay in the dorms or rooms the night before the camp since you have to be thier so early.

I tend to learn the best through books and by talking to people. Also I will be going to my first coaching clinics this year and hope to learn through that. I will also look at some playbooks this off-season.

more about kickers and punters since very few coaches I know know alot about the techinquie these players need and I think this would help my team if I could help coach these players.
I also want a better understanding of X's and O's and QB desicion making.

I know this is not a football question, but this is the only message board I really post on and I am hoping someone has the answer to this question (I also tried goggling it and could not find the answer) My review mirror on my passenger side door was broken. I was wondering if it is illegal to drive with this broken, or if I could not fix it and still drive it. I was wondering due to the fact the car I have is an older car and I don’t want to fix it unless I have to.

I would say AFM but I tend to get more out of books like the NIKE Clinic stuff. I think AFM has a lot of fluff to it and I personally don't think it is worth the 40 bucks. Also you can read all of Scholastic articles online for free.

Yes I would call these programs and let them know you would help. I am doing something similar like this with a JUCO in Iowa, that plays in the same conference as GR. I got this gig by talking to the head coach who I know since I was a student assistant for him while I went to junior college their. Although it can be tough life finically.

I will also vouch for the camps. I have talked to him on the phone and read a lot of his posts and if I had a quarterback that wanted to go to a camp I would recommend him going to Slack’s.
