Everyone comes in having graded film. I am the dc, so I go ahead and look at the opposing film and put in play and formation on hudl. When we meet on Sunday we all fill in the rest. I have done that so it saves time.

We come in at 1 on Sundays and start breaking down film. Kids come in at 3:00 to watch Friday's game. Kids leave at 4:30. Devotion at 4:30. Finish gameplans, practice schedules, and be out by 6:00, the latest 7:00. We are 8-1.

We have our coaches watch and grade the game over the weekend. We meet as a staff on Sunday at 1:00. At that time we breakdown the opponent film until 3:00, then the players arrive. They watch film and do updowns for loafs. They leave around 4:30, then we game plan until around 6:30-7:30.
I wish we would do all the breakdown on our own before we meet, that way we could game plan, meet with the kids and go home.

These are all good ideas. We would love to not meet as much on Sundays (1-7:30), but can't find a way to cut things out.

We are a small school that two platoons. We try and put the best guys at the position that suits them best and where we have needs. We don't have a side that picks first

Does anyone go through a game-like situation practice? We did one a few years ago at a different school and I would like to get some ideas on putting one together. This would be the practice before gameday.

I would love if our school went to this. I think your first period class would have to be athletics.

We started cutting back a little this week. I think we need to cut more. Do you do this regardless of wins?

Cut them out then laminate them, re-cut, then you're good to go.

We script everything. Option Periods, Inside Run, 7 on 7, Team, etc. Now sometimes we will run a play not on the script, but for the most part everyone knows what's coming. Helps us see what's working.

Try some fundraisers that you can do this summer. Have a night of champions at the end of the summer before 2-a-days to showcase the gains your players made. Charge admission. Make a schedule or t-shirt with local business sponsors on it.

I've done different things at the places I've been. Most places we just meet as a staff and talk about the year and improvements we want to make for the next year.

We have both of our two-a-day practices in the morning. Start at 6:30 and are finished before 12:00. Once we start, we don't have to worry about kids missing the second practice. We are a bigger school, so we have players that play one way and enough coaches to do that.

I have coached in Texas, and in Alabama. To be honest, it's pretty much the same. The only difference I noticed was that there are a whole lot more schools in Texas.
