I would say the majority of our juniors and seniors work.
We give them a schedule ahead of time, we like to believe that most employers in the area would be willing to work with someone to open up 3-4 hours of their work day and work around it.
Our ILBs I don’t believe have actual “jobs” but they do so many odd jobs in the community that they stay booked for days/weeks at a time.

I believe a lot of our kids (mostly our junior class, special group) have been asking for Saturday film this season. I don’t believe they’ve ever had it here.

Our basketball coach if given the option would eliminate football.
We don’t do anything to discourage it. In fact we take an interest in their other sports they play.
We’ve made our program an enjoyable thing to be around and a part of and we have a few kids from other sports out now.
I’ll say this, if the basketball coach were to embrace pushing multi-sports he’d have about 5-6 kids on his roster that are better than what he has. We arguably could’ve put 5 of our football kids on a basketball floor last year and beat their best 5 when it comes to talent.

This year we’re taking our kids to a UK game.
I believe we have the number set as 30/35 practices.
We share June with basketball, so if they miss for basketball it’s excused/counts as them being there. Most of them will come to football right after basketball is over if possible anyways.

All of the Russell stuff is great, especially for the price. I have a drawer full of their short and long sleeve t-shirts. Bought a couple pair of their shorts from Walmart the other day for like 15 bucks. They’re fantastic. Bonus: they have the third pocket like the Russell shorts canesfan refers to. Shorts

Last year we were practically all Xenith. Kids loved them, they were comfortable. But from a maintenance standpoint they were a PITA.
Went with one of the Schutt helmets instead this year.

4 days a week in June. We lift an hour and on the field an hour. Last year we rotate between mornings and evenings but we're going all evenings this year.
Then in July it's that mixed with 7 on 7 stuff. Then we have our team camp at the end of July.

I’m sure his meeting lengths have been research backed.

In my opinion, emphasizing culture obviously has a place. It's kind of blown up because of football twitter culture (which I'm a part of, so I'm not trashing football Twitter).
Obviously, you can't have just a culture and win ball games. Just like you can't have just a scheme and win ball games.

Make your program something that kids want to be a part of. What's happening might be wrong but for now, you can't do anything about it, so coach the kids you have and make your program something they want to be a part of.

The OP asked how to make it special for the players, you specifically leave the players out of it completely. I don't think those go together. All those things contributed to more people coming to our games. The more people come the better the environment and the more special it was for the players. Other than winning and having a great environment to play in, I’m not sure what else you can do to make it special.

At the end of the day, the NFL is a business. They are first concerned about making money. Maybe the result of the Super Bowl was what was going to make the most money for the NFL. If you are suggesting that the NFL Superbowl had a pre determined outcome, AND one that resulted in a decline of ratings numbers, and had fans (consumers) rushing to social media to proclaim it the most boring superbowl ever... I am not sure I can agree with that. Yes, the NFL is a business and such actions as pre determining the outcome of the game would result in things such as congressional hearings, criminal charges, civil lawsuits etc. It would end the business. If the NFL was going to rig anything they would have had Chiefs vs Rams in the SB.

So today the first of the new pro leagues to try to challenge the NFL (or at least ride its coattails) is kicking off at 8pm on CBS. I'm curious what people here think of it. I like some of the coaches--especailly Spurrier as HC of the Orlando team--but the whole thing seems poorly thought out. No kickoffs or PATs. Teams forced to go for "onsides conversions" rather than punt on 4th and long. Inane defensive rules don't allow more than 5 rushers (who all have to start from in the box--no DB blitzes), don't allow double A gap blitzes or more than 4 to a side, and ban press coverage combined with a blitz. It just seems like kind of an insult to the game--an attempt to run a glorified 7 on 7 league with pro players. I'm intrigued to an extent and will probably watch, but I predict what we'll see is a bunch of soft bend-but-don't-break defenses (they have no other choice, really) forcing offenses to dink and dunk their way down the field in a pretty boring, uninspired way. That will actually work against things like the deep passing game, throwing hot, screen game, and draw game. I also predict it'll make the run defense extra stingy, turning all the offenses one-dimensional. Thoughts? I have seen different versions of the rule variation. I did not see anything about No punts. The rule I saw about "conversions" was a substitute method to retain possession after a score (ie. onside kick) since there are no kick offs. I saw two different statements about the conversions one. ONe that the team attempting it faced a one down to get 10 yards situation from their own 28. The other was from their own 35. Not sure which is correct. I did not see any mention of a no punt rule. Regarding the defensive restrictions, I think they definitely make sense from Director of player development Hines Ward 's perspective: The items you mentioned probably won't be noticed by most football fans, but strong defensive showings (or weak offensive showings..ehem Superbowl LIE I mean LIII definitely would be. Also, I don't think they are trying to Challenge the NFL at all. I think they are looking to become a development league in some ways. The people involved are NFL people as well as TV people. I am fairly certain they know where they stand. They placed the season to end before the NFL draft to avoid conflict and potentially giving their players an opportunity to be drafted--although I am not 100% sure on the mechanism that would be necessary here as opposed to entering the league as free agents. They're also showing stuff on NFL Network. Definitely not trying to challenge the NFL.

Edelman, donald prove the 40 and bench are practically worthless. Athleticism is far more than that. Are you talking about Aaron Donald? The guy that benches 500? Edelman benched 225 14 times at pro day. No idea what he does now. How many of your high school team's offensive lineman could bench press 225 more times than that? And he is a slot. Edelman ran a 4.42 at his pro day. Donald ran a 4.68 at DT at the combine. How many of your high school backs can do that? Look, you can play or can't. Athleticism is more important. But bench and 40 are practically worthless. get outta here Aaron Donald’s issue was he was “short” He’s a 300 pound man with a 6 pack, that’s freaking scary.

Can the Rams run Wide Zone against the Pats, and if they can't, what will they do instead?
I too am interested in the Rams DL vs Pats OL and Brady (who gets the ball out quicker than anyone in history I believe).

Don’t ever have our kids for anything during the weekend- maybe a fundraiser?
Coaches meet on Sunday. About half of us have watched film prior, the others they see it the first time then.
Our kids are buying in so much lately that I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to get a Saturday lift/run and film session going when season starts.

This! There’s one account on Twitter that is constantly calling schemes out dated and criticizing calls. He posted on here once arguing with a member, was corrected- didn’t reply on here, he took to Twitter to tweet about the guy. I’m not a fan of that. Especially when the coach he was arguing with has forgot more football than this guy knows. I was about to post this. He douched it upbig time on that one. Follow the right guys and don’t follow the fame seekers. There is one guy, that I don’t follow but always gets retweeted on my feed, I can’t stand. He put on some bro science one time and when corrected some 15 year old kid came to his defense. He proceeded to take that as validation for his terrible post. Twitter is a cesspool in some regards but it can be a good learning tool Thing is, that guy posts some really good quality stuff. I had to mute him though after that. The chats are great though.
