I agree. 25 bucks a month is kinda exspensive. Net flicks is 9, so wonder what the deal is?

How long do you wait to start cracking down if numbers are up but success is slow to come?

One of best players I have ever been on field with played QB and MLB, he set multiple state records at QB, and had well over 100 tackles his jr and sr years. Kid was stud, he never came off field, and took terrible team to back to back semis almost by himself. I say that cause the years after he graduated, they struggle to win 1 game.

Safety is more important than looks. I'm just not a fan of Riddell and Schutt saying they have this great safe helmet and its 300 bucks, but if you can't afford it then you can buy cheaper versions that's not as good. Don't tell me your all about safety and kids. That's what I liked about x. They have one style of helmet that fits the same, we bought our middle school kids helmets that they can use in high school cause their sizes are same for adult and youth so we bought them adult helmets.

making players wear helmets that fit would be the best start.

Yeah, with our numbers being low we will probably only go pads 2 days a week. Monday's well be more intro and shorts and helmets, with JV game that night. Will practice both offense and defense about an hr each with 20 min special teams both days. as season goes practice will be cut down. Thursday will be game type polish, and MS game that night.

4 assistants and me make 5 total, but that's ms and hs staff total.

What do you when you don't have the staff to separate. You have just enough to have Indy groups.

The school that I was recently hired as the head coach at is a 5-12 school so I am also the head ms coach at the time. We have 5 coaches total including me on staff. I was thinking practicing them at same time allowing them to do individual with us then breaking them up allowing them to do their own team. High school would work on one 40 going in while ms would work on other going in, so I could watch both.

think there are tons of teams that combine varsity and jv. Every school I've ever been a part of has anyways. Bigger question may be has anyone combined their middle school and their high school practices cause you coaches both, and both numbers are not that large.

can't say anything about X2s right now, but will let you know how it goes at end of season. I am usually a DNA guy but got a great deal on these and liked the idea that they have one helmet and not 4 different.

We just ordered the X2 from zenith. They are a 5 star rating. I like the idea that they promote 1 helment, where others have a low cost helment and then a high cost. They just have one. I agree with others though, helments won't prevent concussions but some can help reduce the risk.

We have HUDL, and we break down different columns for different coaches. We don't meet on Saturday, we allow them to use that as family day. We will come in on Sunday and look at the summary and decide what to do. We will look at those plays, and decide how we want to counter it. Offensively we look at what they may be in. we are a SBV team so we prepare like normal and adjust with a few adjustments if needed. But even on Sunday we don't meet long. In the past it was always breaking down film and looking and sorting data that took forever. HUDL does that for us, so we don't spend near the hours as some.

I'm even expecting us to look a little rusty on July 22 lol. We take a week or so off at the end of school, and start back 1st of June, then we have a 2 week dead period last week of june and 1st week of July. So we really don't get started good till July.

If the head coach knew you were intersted in moving up to varsity, then yes he is in the wrong. I agree with the post about he is not running a major company with 100's of workers. Most of us have 4-5 assistants if we are lucky, so if I can't make time for them to sit down and explain why someone is getting promoted over someone them I have too much on my plate. If we have two kids battling for the same job we owe it to the players to bring them in and explain why we are going the route we are. To the coach complaining about his different assistants, have you sat them down and talked to them? If someone is doing things I don't like we will sit down and discuss what needs to be done. Would rather only have 2 assistants that did what I wanted than 5 that did not.

depends on the financial situation at each individual school. I know of a school who told me they were in debt over $10,000. They decided it would cost each player $200 to play football, because its an extra curricular activity and not a right. Different types of fundraisers were held to help kids raise money and lower the payment. Some kids turned in enough money to pay for their full $200. While others did not do so well fundraising they had other options they or their parents could do Ex. debt could be helped paid off by working the chains, concession stands, trash clean up and so on. While others just decided to pay the $200, some in payments of $10 a week and some the full 200 all at once.

Agree with most, not your place. If problems with something talk to your boss. Not a fan of him coming into huddle during timeout, but do most of your players play both ways? How many timeouts does DC usually take to make adjustments? If he does not get to talk to his players that much and sees an opportunity can't blame him for trying to make adjustments...just trying to get a cleaner picture.

As a college player I used to eat a bunch of mustard straight, and IMO it helped me not to cramp up. Early in coaching career i discovered pickle juice, and we have had good results with that too. When I ran a Marathon last year I would take mustard and pickle juice before a long run, and also carry something to eat (needed food, 26.2 miles is a long way to run). So I would agree with OJW, try pickle juice and mustard, and see if it helps.

I agree with blb, all you can do is do your best. You can not make kids physical, and you can't make them intense. You can do drills and things that may help or show them how, BUT its ULTIMATELY up to them.

LOL...this is making me laugh... "The spread offense can be an equalizer for a team with smaller players, mainly because it pulls defenders out of the box and makes it easier to run the ball, which at the end of the day is still the most proven, consistent way to win football games".
Just wondering what do you do if they don't widen out with you that much where your running lanes are not open, and you can't throw it in the ocean standing at the edge of a pier?

Lockers

Post by veerman on May 15, 2012 7:20:41 GMT -6
We have built our lockers in the past. We diagrammed what we wanted the lockers to look like, and took it to the graphing class to make out as blue print (which the teachers and students liked doing), then we took it to the shop class to either build them or had the shop teacher tell us what we needed to build them. Our shop was busy building a house but they loved help building them when they could and took pride in them. We had an open house on the night we do a "meet the team" and be sure to have signs up on what classes help and did everything for the lockers. You don't have to go into all that if ya don't want, just saying you could build them yourself for 1/4th of the price.
