not sure if "famous" is really the word. did coach & teach a few kids whose parents were in the sports biz. but we didn't do anything differently. just coached, that's all.
coached an NFL coach's 2 kids in football (Tony Sparano - was an assistant with Cowboys, later went on to be HC of Dolphins) coached an NHL player's 2 kids in baseball (Craig Ludwig - was a player, then coach with Stars) coached an MLB player's godson in baseball (Pudge Rodriguez) one of my TA's (teacher's assistants - student helper) one year was Terry Bradshaw's daugther (Rachel Bradshaw is now a country singer) taught an NFL defensive coordinator's daughter (Mike Zimmer)
other than the fact I knew who their parents were - there was nothing unusual or different in how they were treated.

I guess I had it easy compared to Coach Huey. I only taught all three of my principal's kids, the guidance supervisor's kids, and the district business manger's kid, AND my immediate supervisor's kid.

Coached Joe Collier's grandson for 3 years while he was the DC for Denver.
I was really happy I was the OC and not the DC. This was at the youth level and he never said a word to us about football. I guess we were doing a good job.
I did get his autograph but hey...I bleed Orange and Blue.

I had the son of legendary wrestler Doink the Clown in the middle school after school program I was running. He came out for the team for a while but decided it wasnt for him.

Unfortunately not Dink. This kid was very socially awkward and got bullied all the time; his dad (who was one of several Doinks apparently) always tried to get him to fight/fight back. Nobody wouldve known who he was except he made a point to have his kid tell everyone (as if this wouldve won him favor or intimidate people). This just isolated him further.
Oddly enough, now that I think about it, one of the other kids there was the 1/2 brother of a probowl NFL player. He was an okay kid, a little cocky but nothing too bad, and nothing that I think his brother's celebrity wouldve caused. He was nowhere near being an NFL athlete though.

So he was republician democrat capitalist communist A-11 subscriber The kid, like his dad only did things to build his brand. being a high school football player is good for the all american brand if your goal is to suck of the tit of the productive and tax payer (be a politician). I found out really early the Dad was a buddy to the staff as long as it help with his election.

The last 2 seasons I coached Ray Lewis's 3 sons. His elderest was our team leader & rushed for well over 3000 yd in 2 years. I treated him the same way I treated everyone else. He will be going to the U. Ray was always great to deal with never interfered.

To echo everyone else, treat him like everyone else. I coached the son of a well known college OC a few years back--dad was a great guy, extremely helpful to our program, and went out of his way to stay out of the way. Kid was the football version of a gym rat and a great kid.

I coached Magic Johnson's son, when he played Jr High Football. At the time Magic wasn't really involved in his life, but Magic's parents were. Kid was a good hard working kid.

Funny story actually. I went to high school with a kid who's great uncle was RFK/JFK. One of the original Kennedy's grandchildren. Kid didn't play football, but was quite possibly the biggest potheads in our grade. You know the guy. I sat next to him in 9th grade Spanish, we became quite amiable. He would always tell me how you know his family had a huge issue with drug problems etc. Funny enough, hes at Rose Kennedy's funeral reading the responsorial and all the sudden it clicked and I remember telling my mom "it ALL makes sense now!" . A year or two later when we were driving he was messing around with some girl and left a party tipsy and hit a mailpost or something and got in trouble for leaving the scene. I remember I made the whole class laugh (and him too!!) because I said when he was describing the story in class "Hey XXXXX it could have been worse, you could have driven off a bridge first". Ah high school. That senator story though made me remember that!
