I'm certified to teach English in Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri. At least, I've been told by the Missouri schools I've applied at my certification would be honored. I do kind of regret not getting a special ed certificate or Masters, but I've already invested a ton in my education, so now I need a job before I can afford to invest any more.

Well, I currently don't have a full time teaching job but I've got my All-Social Studies endorsement 5-12. When I first got into coaching the first high school I worked out the HC asked me what I was going to school for. He looked at me after I replied and said good look, tough field.
At the time I was young and dumb enough that I never imagined I'd not be teaching full time right now.

At the moment, I teach English, ESL, and Career Prep. English is a lot of marking but I enjoy it a lot. I taught Weightlifting, PE, and French last year. PE is easy, but the classes are a real pain.

Elementary PE. Best job in the world. It is pretty fun. Can be draining at times. Discipline is fairly easy because kids WANT to be there

HS PE, got my health authorization as well so I can do that if/when they need me to
I would never want to teach elementary or middle school I really dislike little kids... One or two are cool but a whole class of them I hate
With PE there is a trade off... Much less in terms of grading and real work... But classes are probably 50% bigger and it's a dumping ground for every Type of difficult kid in the school
If you can manage the kids well then it is the best job I get to see every kid in the school and get more opportunities to recruit and see my kids
If I ever get a football lifting class ill be on cloud 9

Social Studies/History- The most fun to teach.....the hardest to find an opening.
Ive been offered all PE/ Wt lifting and said I want to teach history too, its a blast.
The trade off is there arent many openings. I remember going to job fairs after college; if you were Science or SpEd theyd bend over backwards for you, us history folks got boo'd.

5 U.S. History Honors classes.
Love the content, love the kids, but the grading blows. I make it as easy on myself as possible with scantrons and completion grades but my district requires that the kids do a project every quarter.

But agree with everything youve written

CA = All Math and All Science K-12 UT = Chemistry and Physics
Chem Major... Utah doesn't give out a credential in a subject unless you take like 30 hours of coursework in that subject. CA just requires Teaching License and a passed CSET (Praxis Equivalent). Passed 10 of them in CA so I could teach ANYTHING. Now I just teach Chemistry & Astronomy. They are adding a period of Physics 2013-2014.

AP Psych, Psych & Gov't. Beginning of the year is stressful, but it settles down. I'm much more efficient with my grading during the off-season.

Elementary PE. Best job in the world. Me too...I get paid to play games with kids all day. Games...we don't play no stinking games. Today I had my 1st-5th graders executing a bulgarian split squat and then comparing and contrasting that movement to the back squat they have previously learned via a Venn Diagram.

High School Social Studies and Driver's Ed. Would love to someday be a majority Driver Ed, but our student enrollment numbers don't allow for it now. Got my Driver Ed cert about 6 years after I got out of college.
I think if I had to do it again, I'd have went into PE and Driver Ed. You don't know how many days I wake up and wish I could wear sweat pants or track pants to work that day.

You don't know how many days I wake up and wish I could wear sweat pants or track pants to work that day. I do enjoy that! The other thing that is cool is that I get to coach every day. Granted, it's not football, but you do get to teach physical skills. I actually do a football unit where I teach basic throwing/catching skills. That's a lot of fun.
