Are Las Vegas schools sanctioned or governed by a different association than your school coach? Why did they get approved for 20 padded practices and not the rest of Nevada?
I think you are going to have alot of trouble with that schedule. I get why you want to do it.....you need to get stronger and you need to put in your stuff and practice. But, I bet if you are at a school with over 50% free and reduced lunch, your numbers at a 6AM lift are not gonna be very good. You may get them to stay for practice after school, kids will do that, but kids that dont have a car are not gonna bust their rear end to be at a 6 AM lift. They are gonna tell you coach I have to ride the bus....
As for us, we are a 2A school (700 students) in NC. We are fortunate, all out returning players are in my 1st Pd class. So we get our lift out of the way in school. Next week we start our spring skill development-each position group will go out 1 day a week for an hour. In early May we will start 10 days of spring practice, these last 2 hours. In NC, I cant make anything mandatory until Aug 1. So these spring sessions are optional. Although I dont tell the kids that.

Only problem I had is I can’t get our new helmets we order in less than 3 months. But my buddy at another school got his helmets back plus 15 of the same color and type that weren’t his. His sales rep told him to keep them. They had no way of knowing where they should have went. I told him someone is going to be really pissed off about being shorted 15 helmets!

We just took the guys to the local elementary schools to read to them yesterday......I think our kids got as much out of it as the little kids. Smiles everywhere and several of our guys were talking about how much fun it was.

We have a football class......but its not necessarily what you describe. In season we lift, and do chalk talk/film study. Out of season it is a strength and conditioning class with some character development thrown in.
Its only open for football players, and I pretty much have control of who gets in or out. We dont do any history of the game, or strategy other than what we need to learn for our schemes/gameplan etc...

We are currently doing one.....as others have mentioned, how much you make really depends on the type of kids and community you have. We serve a pretty rural, poor community. So we are going to make a couple grand. I saw on twitter a school about an hour and a half away in a much more suburban, upper middle class community had brought in about 10 grand. So know who you are.
We do 3 fundraisers each year. We do a golf tournament, we sale the cards, and we do the online thing. The best thing about it is the online thing doesnt require alot of work from me. Our golf tournament is pretty successful, but it takes alot of work. We did really well with the card sales last fall but again, there is some work involved. The online thing doesnt require me to do a whole lot except encourage the kids to participate and make some posts on social media.

As the HC, I am paid an extra month, plus $13 an hour for the month I dont get paid in the summer. My assistants get paid $13 an hour for summer "labor" if they chose to do so. So for us, there is some incentive to be there. Not saying everyone is there everyday.....but you need to be there if your group is on the field (2 days a week)

No. There is nothing in the formula about playing up or down. It’s your winning percentage x.3. Opponents winning percentage x.4. And opponents opponents winning percentage x.3.
Our non conference schedule had 2 teams a class bigger than us. One the same as us. And one a class lower than us. And our conference is all the same class.
Next year our non conference schedule has 2 teams in a class lower than us. One the same. And one bigger. So it really all comes out in the wash for most teams.

A certain number of teams qualify from each conference. 5 or less teams 1 auto bid 6-8 teams 2 auto bids 9 or more teams 3 auto bids. The rest of the teams are then selected as wildcards based off of a formula. The formula is your winning percentage x.3. Your opponents winning percentage x.4 and your opponents opponents winning percentage x.3.
Then teams are seated based off this formula. With all conference champs being seated first.

I get what you are saying.....hudl is the property of the school, not the coach, unless the coach paid for the hudl subscription out of his own pocket. I am no hudl guru, but if I knew I was leaving and I wanted something, I would find some way to send it to myself.

We got Monday thru Thursday as well. We generally spend an hour a day on the field and rotate which side of the ball we are working each day. I ask our coaches to come the days we are practicing the side of the ball they coach unless they happen to be on vacation.

Maybe some of those guys dont view the jobs they have had the opportunity to get as good jobs or the right fit for them after the interview? ? I do think that Flores, Bieniemy, Morris, and Leftwich deserve to be hired if they want the job.

When we made the playoffs and needed a charter bus for our second round game……we had an Asst coach who has been around forever and is well connected in our community basically start calling alumni, community members, and people who owed him a favor to raise the money for the trip. So parents weren’t paying for their kid to get a charter bus. But we were basically soliciting money.

It’s hard on the current players. The extra year is killing high school kids more than the portal. They are the ones eating scholarships. If it was just the portal there would be the same number of scholarships available. Just at different schools. But with the extra covid year the number of available scholarships is diminished. I was talking to a college coach one day when he came by. And he basically said. D1 kids are going D1AA. D1AA kids are now going D2. D2 kids are going D3. He is at a D2 school and said in this class they were getting kids they wouldn’t have even talked to before bc they didn’t think they had a chance to get them.

I disagree....as a whole our grades as a team are much better in school than they were when we were remote. There are kids who will do no matter what. There are kids that wont do no matter what. Then there are kids that will do as long as you push them to and stand over there shoulder. You cant do that virtually.

Same school as the crunk school is now posting a position coaching job. This coach does not need to stay crunk everyday. He can have some downtime. Post says something about swinging to both sides, the LGBT+ discussion has come full circle I missed that part of the post!

Alot of it has to do with the #culture guys on social media. But.....
For me-I dont feel like I want to raise other peoples kids. However, I do realize that some of my guys are not gonna get this instruction at home (I would say half). I want them to have the character it takes to do things right and continue to play hard when things arent going on our way. I want them to care about one another and be as close of a group as possible. I think it is important for the off season development of our team

You wouldnt have the videos, but you could come up with your own. Thats what I do. I introduce a topic at the first of the week. First week is what is character, second week is always Love. Then you go from there, what do you want to emphasize? I try to tie the next week into the last week if at all possible. Again, you wouldnt have the videos but generally this is what I do. Monday-Introduce this weeks character trait and talk about what it means-both dictionary meaning and real life application. Tuesday-Some quick quotes from some people more famous than me about this weeks emphasis. Wednesday-A more in depth discussion and conversation about this weeks trait, what it means, why it is important.....etc... Thursday and Friday-try to get a player or 2 to talk about this weeks trait. Monday/Tues/Thur/Fri takes about 5 min Wed takes a little longer-maybe 15-20. I also try to find ways to use the word or trait throughout the course of our warmup, lift, run whatever, and use it and teach it continually through the class period.

I agree with buck....its a huge work load with kids moving around. Also a part that sucks, is you sometimes get a kid or two who just isnt going to be on time isnt going to do right now matter what his "captain" or coach says. I refer to these kids as cant get right....also you can end up making a kid a captain of a team that just isnt a leader or just isnt vocal or just isnt interested in that type of role. When one of those two things happen it can make one of your teams suck and really be a pain and kind of demoralizing.

In NC we cant make anything mandatory until the first official day of practice which is usually Aug 1.
We have mandatory dead periods that are 3 weeks long from the start of each sport season (fall, winter, spring) Also, there are 2 dead weeks during the summer and the last 5 days of 1st semester and the last 10 days of the second semester are dead.
You are basically allowed to do any non mandatory skill development you want outside of those dead periods.
Most schools wait until the summer to start to do 7 on 7s against other schools.
Strength and conditioning sessions can occur at any time.
We are fortunate that all our players are in strength and conditioning class 1st period in the second semester. We will not ask them to do anything after school until our spring skill development sessions start after school sometime in the spring.

The bottom line is, you can tell the recruiter the truth, without doing this. This is for show and publicity, and I am not sure its the type of publicity most of us would want.

I dont really get the point of this.....looks bad, and if you did it at most public schools you would probably be in the office pretty quick.....that being said.....do you all have guys who are getting recruited that arent good kids who pretty much do what they are supposed to do? Maybe its just me but every kid I have had who could play at the next level generally did what they were supposed to do. I've never had a turd bucket who was getting recruited I guess....

In the summer/off season-I reward the kids that make a certain number of days. You earn off season points in our off season character development program.....showing up is part of it. They get rewarded with t shirt, name on back of jersey, and some other things.....
In the season, I have a policy that if you miss practice it has to be excused by me. No communication means not excused no matter what it was. Funeral, sickness, etc...ok you can still play. "Family issue", had to babysit my little brother, get haircut, go school shopping not ok. I told our kids and parents if you are going to tell me you cant be there bc of a "family issue" you better be ready to discuss that issue with me so that I know the situation and may be able to help our player. If you are gonna call me and say you have to babysit younger siblings your parent better be the one calling and telling me that.
Even if you are excused...i.e family death or COVID....if you miss two you dont start. Not fair to the kid who had to take your place, and no way I feel like you can learn the gameplan for that week.

Summer-not much you can do-its not mandatory and you cant punish them. I will say this, give your kids a schedule of off season activities really early, let them know when you are going to workout and when you are going to practice. Most employers will work with the kids and work their schedule around yours if you let them know early enough going in, at least in my area.
In season-you gotta be there....I am pretty willing to work with kids, maybe overly so, but you gotta be at practice. No practice, no play.....but again communication is key. Let them know early what your practice plans are. Communicate your expectations on practice early so that parents know what to expect.
I will set down after Christmas and make out a calendar of our off season events and our practice schedule through Labor Day. This schedule will be in our kids hands and on their school email within the first couple of weeks of January, and I will pretty much stick to it. Now the ball is in their court.....do you wanna play, or do you wanna work?
They can work Sat. and Sun. in season. I have several kids who leave practice at 6-630 and go get a couple of hours of work in. It can be done. Its just a matter of importance to them.
