How would one go about getting this done? We just passed a bond that will pay for the start up for turf and we have building fund money too. But we are still currently short. I know some schools have their fields named or sponsored after a company or bank. Who sending a letter off to potential candidates be the way to get started in trying to get this done?

3500 wr coach 1350 7th grade 2989 was boys track
Our school pays our teacher retirement so I get that back, so that is like another 2800 right now. We get paid for running camps and summer wts through our booster club and ongoing fundraiser of selling chocolate milk, Gatorade, and squeeze pops all year . Just started selling pb&j too.
Have made more and less for certain things at the other schools I've worked at.
What is sad is if I went 20 east over the state line I would Get about a 15-20000 dollar raise JUST for teaching , not even including stipend monies.

Oklahoma U need to take 3 test to become a teacher. To coach u just need care prevention of Injuries and that is recommended if u are a lay coach that only works for a stipend.
I think all states have gone to the concussion test to take every year plus the heat awareness test.
Our head coach has to record the temp at the beginning of practice each day now and how long we spent in practice. State has t said what they need the Info for, but we think they are about to Limit contact during the week.

I personally prefer the Austin pad, never had a shoulder injury in and Austin pad while i played or by a kid since I started coaching 14 years ago.

Ironman That sounds like what we used to do
Now I have a question? What does read, give etc etc mean for the play? I know you said they are all traps But we when ran trap it was 33 trap, 43 trap, 23 trap, 73 trap all of these were blocked exactly the same only think different was the formation and some Possible motion, but all Blocked the same. And how come your head guy didnt just tag "gun" to the formation if he wanted 2 pt stance. ?
I do agree with everyone else, coachem up , come up With some simple rules and start sending that résumé out during Christmas break

sorry about the double post.
And I have to disagree about kids not remembering. If you are running the same offense they will. We are going into our 4th year here. And Our upcoming freshman (8th grade currently) knew more offense and defense then our hs team did our first season this past year, actually almost as much as our hs team did our second season.
we only have 5 run block schemes, toss, trap, iso, ot, lead o, and speed option, and we have playaction off all these. 4 pass, slide, gap slide (abc, 123) bob, and sprint out,
Now this being said, we do not have a legitimate tb (durable) or fb, so we will more then likely be more option oriented this year, our qb can scoot a bit.

In Oklahoma , we get 10 days of 2 hour practices. The time ticker starts when u hit the field so you could stretch in the lockeroom chalk talk whatever and it doesn;t count against your 2 hours.
We can;t start until the last spring state championship in the sport our school participate in is played. no some say this means when your team is beat out, but it is not, and you have until June 1st to get your 10 days in.
Summer you can go to 2 team camps that at least 5 teams must be at and they can't be in back to back weeks and must be held before July 15. You can host or have your players go to as many individual camps as you want, you just must charge them.
All 7 on 7 must be done before July 15 , as well, unless its for 5th grade and down.

back pack sprayers?
We have a spray machine and we usually can get to the opposite 35 or 25 yard line before it runs out. With that thing we can get all the lines done in 55 minutes, but then it is time for hashes and numbers and that takes for ever.
This year we did it on Wednesdays and then had the junior help a little with the hashes and numbers on thursday.

we had it at my old school first hour, but by the time i became head coach they had done away with it because students abused it and they didn;t have the head coach in charge of it. Funny no district championships there since they did away with it. Credits were the excuse they gave me for not bringing it back. but that is just bs
Here at my current school we have first hour weightlifing, mainly 8th graders and a few hs girls take it. And we have 6th hour weight lifting, all but 2 football players were in it this year, and all baseball, track , and all but 4 basketball players (Roys) are currently in. We are a small school (240).
It works great. And I have said before on here we lift 5 days a week ALL YEAR, on game day too. But they were so bad when we got here we had to, we had to shock the kids the parents and community do get them back winning.
In-season: All players lift at 7 in the morning in the lockeroom no later then 6:45. And we watch film with the football players 6th hour and the off season basektball, baseball, softnall etc kids lift, the softball and girls basketball coach runs it then.
off-season: back to 6th hour lifting and the basektebll teams then come in at 7 in the morning. Same now that it is baseball season with the baseball players.
Last hour we all run/speed train, then go to our sport. This only takes 30 minutes so we are back in the dressing room bu 2:45 and then out on the field for practice at 3:05-3:20 depending on film, chalk talk, or things like that.
That being said we are about to change to 3 days lifting in the summer. It will be open the other 2 for the kids that want to be great and be winners or if a another sports coach wants them there the other 2 days. In fact our school board just passed if a student wants to be involved in athletics they must lift at Least 3 days a week as this is an extension of their sports practice and conditioning.
This has helped us so much. So much that we were named the 2012 BFS National School of the Year.
hope this helps
