We are considering making the switch to these helmets. They cost less than Riddell and the reconditioning fee is also less. They recondition them in the USA, also. Last year, our Riddells and Schutts were sent to Mexico to be reconditioned and some of them came back in pretty bad condition.
I tried one on, and they do fit the head very well. Better than any helmet I've ever worn. I've heard good things about concussion prevention from other coaches also.
Needless to say, we are pretty close to sold on making the switch. Anyone have any thoughts on these helmets?

3 years ago our AD was pushing our parents to chip in and help buy the new Xenith helmets. We bought about 20 for ~$275 each. The sales guy came in, made the sale and was never heard from again.
Most of our players hated them - too heavy and uncomfortable.
This past season the majority of the helmets still sitting on the shelf were Xeniths. That was a huge mistake for our program.

I would like to hear from coaches/players that have used the Xenith helmet also.

I wore one when i played in college for my senior year. Its a great helmet. I also when i coached at my alma mater HS this year the riddell rep said all the studies are false marketing ploys and the company is losing money fast. They also break a lot and when they break the whole inside network of pads with the chin straps need replaced. Food for thought. I love them but i think the cost far outweigh the good.

We mostly wear the newer style of Rawlings helmets, but we do have a few Xeniths on our shelf too. The one thing I will say is that when we have a kid who is hard to fit for a helmet (seems between jaw pad sizes, etc.) we will put them in a Xenith and they just about always fit well. The sizing system in them is very easy and very custom fitted.

They have come down exponentially in price, that's why we are considering them...
We can get them for quite a bit cheaper than Riddell.

My school bought several X2s this past season and I'm honestly not a big fan. I had to replace screws in two or three of them a week for the entire season. We also had several severe concussions this season and every player was wearing a Xenith. I think for the money I would go with another company.

We got five two seasons ago and we were not impressed. Chin strap contraption would constantly break and was expensive to fix. Also, out of 5 helmets we had 2 that actually broke! The shell cracked all the way through. We will not purchase these helmets again.

We bought 26 this past season... the kids seem to like the fit better than other helmets... but they sure don't seem like they'll last 10 years like the old Air helmets did. The facemasks wear about like the Original revolutions a few year ago... all beat up with the rubber coming off the masks for linemen. Not sure I'd make that mass purchase again.

Wore a Xenith my senior year in college. Switched to a different helmet right before the first game. Most people followed. Some of us were getting cuts on our necks and faces. For some reason the helmet was cutting us. Switched to revo speed and loved it. Wasn't a huge fan of the protruding facemasks of the revo, but no cuts, and the nogging felt better when making contact.

We had 10 chin straps break during the season. It's not a quick fix item either. Players had to borrow other players helmets which is a law suit waiting to happen.

I was just looking at a study on the Xenith. It was an independent study that shows the temperature inside the helmet stays higher which actually leads to more concussions. The Xenith was consistently high across the board. Not sure if that helps you any.

Our HC bought 4 a few years back...awful...kids hated them...chinstraps broke all the time...can't change much on them with parts you have in stock for Riddell or Schutt helmets...they also turned yellow after 1 year of use like an old 20 year old helmet...not a fan. We keep a mix of the New model Schutts and the Riddell Speeds...mainly to fit different head shapes and sizes.

We really liked the Rawlings. We had 90% of our kids in their cheapest model this year. We got them for 125 a piece in matte black. They were rated the same as schutt and I believe the revolutions for safety. We didn't have a concussion all year.

Just bought some Rawlings. 211 NFL players are wearing them. For the old guys it looks like the old butter cup. Was told it will not tear up by a reconditioning company because it has no extra parts. Very light also.

We had about 18-20 kids purchase their own Xeniths. The only issue we had was the facemasks chipping pretty quickly. No broken chinstraps, only one needed an inside pad replaced. 1 concussion, but doubt a helmet was the issue. We got ours from the local rep for $189each. Not sure I would make a mass purchase with school money but they are cheaper than Riddells. We have 4 Rawlings helmets also...they just look and feel cheap.

We had great success with 22 new x2's this season, low maintenance and always a perfect fit, did not have to walk around with an air pump every day fighting the kids to put more air in helmet , less concussions than wearing riddell a year prior

We have had both good and poor reviews from our kids. It been a love or hate thing with our kids. We did have a kid get jacked up two years ago and he was concussed big time. So in my opinion having a good selection of Riddell, Schutt and/or Zenith helmets that your kids can be properly fitted and where a helmet they are comfortable using.

Have not used them. Have talked to several college equipment managers and they said nobody wanted them and they sent them back. Doing my research, I was not comfortable with the kids having that much control over the fit. Also if the cable broke you were in trouble. Seemed to be an engineering issue. I take the time to evaluate helmets whenever I see a kid. To me that is one of the things you have to do. Kids get haircuts, let it grow out or wear stuff under.and don't stick the newbie who does not have a clue, or just expect injuries(not that all old coaches know how to fit the new helmets)

I ordered 130 of them for our youth tackle divisions this year. They loved them and all have held up great. As far as fitting goes, for the little kids, these were the best. Fit like gloves bc of their bonnet system. The Riddell and schutt s didn't fit so well for the odd shaped cranium s out there.
