Riddell has been good for us. Variety of price points and styles and the rep in our area is easy to work with.
Schutt and Z-cool are also good again several price points and the rep in our area is new and gung ho.

Z-cools are very in right now. They are affordable and durable. I know my old teams have used TAG pads before and enjoyed them. If you have the money though I would go Power pads all day long.

While I'm biased because I am a Schutt & Douglas dealer, I do like Schutt, both for their entry level pad (I've worn it to play in 3 alumni games and it's felt great) and especially their pads with TPU. Like the TPU in their helmets, and unlike foam (every other brand) TPU doesn't compact over time and maintains performance standards in variable weather conditions. Remember how a foam helmet feels in 30 degree weather? A heck of a lot different (harder) than it does in 90 degree weather. TPU stays the same. Big difference in comfort and protection.
I don't think you can necessarily go wrong with Riddell, but I do think the company has coasted for years based on their name recognition, but now it seems they're starting to really invest in research, which is a positive, and they do make the best looking helmets in the game (subjective, but most kids want them).
Douglas Pads are worn by about 90% of NFL players and are made right in the USA. Great for when you need an extremely quick repair or replacement from the factory. They pride themselves on service and craftsmanship, although I don't feel there's any tremendous advantage to them because their technology isn't any different. They are much most costly also.

People still wear z-cool, I thought that pad went out of business Riddel powers are good
I personally prefer the Austin pad, never had a shoulder injury in and Austin pad while i played or by a kid since I started coaching 14 years ago.
