Quick questions, me and another coach I lift with in the mornings were talking about this just a little while ago. Which state is it that has such a quick turnaround for the playoffs? Like they play their last regular season game on a Thursday, then turn around and play the first round playoff games on a Tuesday and the second round on Saturday. I wanted to say it was Kansas or Iowa but I cant remember.

I coach in Iowa now. Our Week 9 games are played on a Friday, then the first round games will be played the following Wednesday. The second round games will then be played on the Monday after that. So, if you make it the second round, you'll play three games in an 11 day stretch. After that, some normalcy returns to the schedule, I think. I haven't been fortunate enough to make it that far yet!

I'll add that until just a few years ago, the Missouri schedule used to be similar, I believe.

If you make it to the Quarterfinals in Iowa, you would have played 4 games in two weeks. Last regular season game on Friday. Round one on Wednesday, round two on Monday, quarterfinal on Friday. Exhausting schedule, but it is fun. Not good for kids. Sounds like the state will move the start of the regular season up one week. Which means we would have a week of camp, a week of practice (they eliminated 2-a-Days) and then it's game week. Another option the state is looking at is dropping one regular season game. Neither of their solutions is good for kids.

Missouri was similar to this until just this year. Now it's every Friday with the state Championship games being played on Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.

I wish Iowa would play the championship games the weekend of Thanksgiving. But for some reason, they think we have to be done the weekend before.

In Minnesota the last regular season is on a Wednesday. The first playoff game is on Tuesday and the second round game is on Saturday.

In Washington state our last regular season game is on a Thursday and playoffs begin on the following Tuesday. Also, I believe if there is a 3 way tie for a playoff spot they will have a 3 way mini tie breaker on the Saturday following the final Thursday game.

Triangular field, two balls. Each team gets six downs to advance the ball and then the balls rotate clockwise while the offences advance counter-clockwise. Everything switches direction after the first period, and then back after the second period. Each period is 13 minutes long. If you score you switch positions in the rotation with the team you just scored on.

I moved to Kansas for college and from what I understand they have to play their first 3 playoff games in 14 days or something like that. One school close to here said they played Tuesday, Saturday, then friday

It is Kansas and it is only in one classification of 11-man. Our last regular season game is on a Thursday. Round one is on Tuesday. Round 2 is on Saturday. Round 3 is on Friday but could be moved to Saturday depending on travel distances. 4 games in 16 days.

My question is how do you have time to game plan, prepare for, and practice for you playoff opponents in such a short turnaround. I thought it was bad this year when our game got postponed till Monday and we had to play again on Friday.

Wisconsin used to be the same way (not sure if it is now)... I remember playing final regular season game on Thursday, hosting Rd. 1 playoff game the following Tuesday, and playing round 2 that Saturday. If my memory serves correct, round 3 was the following Friday with the state finals the Thursday/Friday after that.

I thought it was bad this year when our game got postponed till Monday and we had to play again on Friday. Most of the time you know going into the last regular season game which team you will be playing, or at least 1 of 2 teams. With Hudl, it makes it very easy to get film on everyone. There really aren't any secrets in football. Usually the Head coach gets a sub for that Friday and starts breaking down film of our first round opponent to have it ready for practice. Friday practice is nothing more than jog/stretch and game film, possibly walkthroughs. . Practice on Saturday and Sunday, Monday practice is like a regular Thursday practice, with any needed game plan implementation. If you get a player hurt in the last game, it is very hard to get them back for round 1

So you are allowed to practice on Sunday? That would never happen here in NC. When I was thinking about it I didnt count that in the prep days

So the huge thrust in football has been player safety the last few years and some states have teams play 4 games in two weeks? This boggles my mind. Who the hell runs those state athletic associations Rodger Goodell?
