I hear about a lot on sidelines that look like coaches We will have an equipment guy only on Fridays, ball guy, all the trainers from the local juco full time and student , and once playoffs start junior hi coaches that red high school games that are done are on he sidelines too. And of course media people taking photos and what not.
By he way our enrollment is 640ish high school, 70 kids on the team 10-12 another 35 fresh. 8th has usually about 27-36 kids- 4 coaches 1 is also a 7th the rest our head coaches of other sports or assistants 7th 25-35 kids- 3 coaches , 2 of us are varsity

Ok I was wondering how many assistant coaches each of u have on staff, full time or lay and size of school and state.
I'm pretty sure we are the most understaffed out of anybody in 4a in our state with the exception of some inner city schools.
We have 6 total counting head coach We all do jv And only 2 freshman coaches which our part of the 6
Thanks

U might ask the art department to help paint
Ours repainted the outside of the Fieldhouse for us and all the trash cans with sayings and parking lot bumpers too and the front of the stadium
Took them about 5 days

We finally got turf this year, that itself has help so much when it comes to rain Just being able to go full speed, and as long as it's not a monsoon it is pretty much dry within an hour of raining and lockeroom isn't near as dirty, and we actually have less aches and pains. Our old practice field was rock hard. I know myself and the other coaches backs and hips don't hurt as much from coaching and we have asked the players and they all say the same thing not near as many aches in the ankles or knees

We have a form that manager/ water girls have to fill out before we even interview them.
We have 6 this year. Everyday water and make sure the training room is respectable . They flip the towels when they get there if that needs to be done. Sometimes one will film practice And since we have 6, on Mondays 2 stay in and finish putting away game uni or undershirts that haven't been out away yet, they also do this if we watch film before practice .
They really don't help much with field set up Just water and make sure a trash can and towels are out
Our coaches have their pe classes set the field up on game day,
And then last hour before the pep rally we will take the tables out, and set the helmet kit, extra man, and stuff by the door, and then around 5 a student assistant sets up the echo system My self and another coach the end zone camera A couple freshman that don't suit up with varsity take out the stuff by the door And our dc that is like our tech guru sets the camera up.
And everyone on the team is suppose to help take stuff in when the game is over . Same with on the road when it is time to load the trailer .

Our practice today 9 we were off the field and in the lockeroom 9:59
For mental fatigue, we lift Monday and Wednesday mornings and Saturdays before film. We have given them Wednesday off 3 times this year and 1 Saturday off after first round knowing that we wouldn't even get the trade tape till late Saturday morning because of the other team getting in mega late.
Little things like this has seemed To keep us fresh .

I'm pretty much in charge of our scouting report for offense I have a typed "quick sheet" It's one page and gets to the point
Favorite fronts Favorite cov Favorite blitzes Fav stunts
Then I type in the opponents numbers in there positions lined up to our base offensive set Highlighting weak and strong players And any special notes At the bottom Strengths Weaknesses Top tendencies Keys to victory I'll type about 5 things here that we as a staff have discusses while breaking film down And then I will throw a quote on at the bottom that seems to fit the week
That basically has everything they need to know
Second page is a depth chart with ht wt and grade It also has an alignment part at top that I'll will fill in against our second favorite formation Roster Then the hand written version of the quick sheet (I know probably not necessary) Then if a team blitzes a lot I'll have those drawn or if they do a lot of fronts If not then that is it 4 pages And all they really need is the first one that they can use while watching film

Yes We are fortunate to be having are second thanksgiving practice in 3 years this week. And it's going to be pouring rain more than likely But it means we are in the semis with a chance to play for the gold ball.
It's one of our goals each year, practice on thanksgiving .

The main thing about it Is it causes controlled chaos and the kids have to be able to think on their feet in a distracting environment
On mondays it is only loud during prepractice then we turn it down because lots of teaching and alignment assignment type things are going on, Pretty much rest of the week it is cranked !! And every now and then there might be a dance contest or air guitar contest.
