When I was a Sophmore my dad coached against me. His team won 46-0, up 40-0 at half. Nothing changed at home, it was just another game.

back in black AC/DC also... let the bodies hit the floor. I'm not even sure this is the right name of the song or of the band but it's on the Tough Enough Soundtrack. It's just awesome. "Let the bodies hit the floor" The Songs name is bodies and it is by Drowning Pool

I've got a different question to ask. Say you are down big midway through the 3rd. Both teams have their backups in and the other team is just using their base run plays but is still driving and can easiy score. What would be more insulting: them running a few base plays and scoring a couple more times, or them taking a knee 3 times and punting?
Personally, I would rather have a team let their subs play and let the chips fall, it is up to us to stop them eventually. If they scored a couple more times using their subs it is not on them for running it up, but on us for not stopping them.

I really believe some officials are just waiting to make a big game changing call so all their buddies at the officials' meeting the next week can pat them on the back and ask how they made such a great call, and the idiot can say, "I was watching for it all night long." I wish the official on the opposite sidelines last friday would have been watching for anything all night long. Three times he missed a block in the back on a kickoff.

You still see a lot of I in North Dakota, with a lot of success. Harvey and Linton run a lot of I, but they had great tailbacks

Valley City St. University (ND) has a pretty good lineman camp in mid june. They also run a 9 man team camp, but I don't know anything about it.
Phil Hanson is putting on a lineman camp in Fargo this summer as well
Dickinson State (ND) has a pretty good 11 man team camp, it has some of the better teams from ND and MT that go to it
Linton High School in ND has a pretty good camp for all positions, they get coaches from the local colleges. It is fairly cheap, it is a good camp if you are in the area.
Brooks Bollinger runs a QB camp in Grand Forks during the summer too, but some of the kids I talked to said they didn't like it, and some said the did, so go figure

I had some big plans. We were planning to go to a team camp, some 7 on 7, and putting on a Lineman Challenge or Powerlifting Meet. In addition to that there were several kids I was going to take to individual camps. I had also planned to open the weightroom all summer.
However, a week ago the school board decided to R.I.F. my teaching position. So now my summer plans include finding a job

Recovering DW Kool-Aide addict in North Dakota. There are two schools in the state that I know of that run the Double-Wing: Wahpeton and Langdon.

Coach Martin,
I feel for you man, the situation you are in sucks, I just got done going through the same type of situation. They cut my teaching position, but I got a better job and get to play my old school in football next year.
My advice would be to get out if you can. If this guys hates you and is trying to get rid of you then he will more than likely talk you down and backstab you at any turn. It makes things a lot harder when you have to deal with garbage like that everyday.
The way it works here is the school board ultimately makes the decisions, based largely on advice from the principal and superintendent, so if they are on your side you should be safe. Unless the AD is good friends with school board members or the superintendent, they are the ultimate decision makers.

When you can tell if you have eleven on the field by counting the few on the sideline easier. Been there, played a whole JV season using 9 or 10 players (We only play 9 man) Finished 3 -2 though

North Dakota is similar to South Dakota in that the public and private schools are lumped together. Classification for football is based on male enrollment. In ND it would not make sense to have the private schools seperate, as there is only 7 in the state (Fargo Shanley and Bismarck St. Mary's in AAA [largets class], Fargo Oak Grove, MInot Ryan, and Dickinson Trinity in AA and Shiloh Christian (Bismarck) in 9 - Man. Trinity Christian in Williston is the other but I believe they Co-op with Williston High)
In football the private schools are not any more dominant than any other school. Dickinson Trinty had a run where they made a couple of title games but lost each time to Cavalier. But all those schools have not been very competitive in the last decade. In comparison, class A school Velva has won 3 straight state titles and 5 of the last 6.
The only place people complain about private schools is Class B (smaller of the two classes) basketball where Dickinson Trinity has made the state tournament for 7 straight years, where most towns would kill to make it once a decade.

This was what was given to us at our state coaching convention (ND) regarding proper hydration. It comes from Dr. Jane Edwards, sports nutritionist from North Dakota State.
Pre-Exercise: 2 cups (8 oz. Each) at least 2 hours before exercise 1 more cup (8oz.) 15 min prior to exercise
During Exercise: 1/2 to 1 cup every 15 minutes of exercise
Post Exercise: 3 cups for every 1 lb of body weight lost during exercise.
Gatorade was highly recomended as a post exercise drink.
So if my calulations are right you practice for 135 min max and give 4 water breaks, so that is one every 33 minutes. and if your players are drinking 1-2 cups at that time you are pretty much dead on with what has been suggested to our state coaches.

26 Coaching in ND. 4 years experience
Primarily an OL/DL coach. Have also coordinated special teams and run weight programs.
First two years coaching were 11 man: Double Wing and I formation on offense. 4-4, 5-3, and 6-2 on defense.
Last two years were at the 9 man level. Ran the Double Wing, some spread.
Will have be at a new school next year: 9 man for a year then back to 11 man

Hebron Brickmakers Ashley Aces Grace City Phesants Strasburg Clippers (ND is nowhere near any ocean) Minot Magicians Munich-Starkweather Magic Storm Hillsboro Burros Divide County Maroons New Salem Holsteins Mott-Regent Wildfire Williams County Firestorm Bismarck Demons
AS JD pointed out Devil's Lake used to be the Satans, but the local churches forced them to change it to the Firebirds, only after the students had voted for Blazers.

Last Year we won a game 66 - 0. The other team was horrible. They allowed over 50 points a game for the season and did not score one touchdown on the year.
It was 40 - 0 at half. Our FB had 3 carries for 21 yards and 2 TD's and we pulled him. Our JV played the second half and manged to score 26 more on them.
3 years ago we beat a team 53 - 12 during the regular season and then we beat them 53 - 6 in the first round of the playoffs. In the playoff game we were up 31 - 0 after the first quarter
I have also seen a 96 - 0 beating. Starters were pulled midway through the second, second string was gone after two possessions in the third. Third string scored twice I believe
