the thing about the I offense is you need to find a TB. IMO it is easier for a RB to play fullback or halfback in a splitback veer, or wing-t, double slot offense, or even oneback than be a true tailback. IMO, we like to use the oneback because we were sick of trying to block 9 or 10 defenders in the box. Now we only have to worry about 5, 6 and sometimes 7 defenders in the box.

West Monroe still runs the I. They dabbled in the spread a little this year but when the chips are down and they need yards and tds, they go to the I.

You still see a lot of I in North Dakota, with a lot of success. Harvey and Linton run a lot of I, but they had great tailbacks

Mostly spread or wing t in mass, but still a solid share of successful I teams.

We had one I formation squad around here that rolled up an average of 310 yards on the ground a game- split almost evenly between the FB and TB. They usually threw for 100 yards with PA passes a game also. They were a mean, hard hitting team, 4 out of 5 guys on the offensive line were smaller than the starting FB, but they were quick and aggressive.

We still run it, been blessed with two very good TB's in the last 5 years, with another one on the way next year (07) so we won't be going out of it anytime soon. We run veer, midline, power, ctr, toss sweep, pa passes and screens. We also have a spread package that we will run just to show a different look and to move some kids out of the box.
