We practice the two weeks before we go to camp. Because we want them in some sort of shape at camp so as to avoid injury we condition at the beginning of practice. We do a circuit of agilities and such that our football related.

We meet in March as a staff and go over the offensive scheme.
We meet in April as a staff and go over the defensive scheme.
We meet in May in position coaching groups to go over skills, drills, and terminology. We first list the skills that the position requires. Secondly, we list the drills that we will use and the skills that each drill addresses. During this process we are also checking that our terminology is consistant.

I am a head coach and I am the OC. My position on O is the TE's and QB's. On defense I am the LB coach. I am in charge of the KOR and Punt teams.

1) I look for hard workers. Guys that don't get bent out of shape if asked to do something.
2) Guys that have a thirst for the game. They look for every oppurtunity to gain more knowledge.

We used them the last two years and both years were successful. I like fundraisers where I don't do very much work but get lots of money!!

Yes, I always encourage our players to participate in these All-Star events. Many times these games bring kids together with players and coaches that give them a different perspective. I know what you are asking about, though, which is the injury factor. Maybe I am sticking my head in the sand but I refuse to be scared of our game that we coach.

We will have a sheet divided into different situations. 1 & 10, 2 & L (6+), 2 & S, 3 & L (7+), 3 & M, 3 & S (3-), Coming Out, Red Zone, Goal Line. Each situational will be divided on the sheet into left, middle, and right hash. Within each category we will put plays down as a menu, per say. If done correctly, there will be a built in randomness.

Enjoyed listening to Andy Ludwig from Cal. His offensive stuff is good as it is simple.
