Just trying to revamp the way we do things. Here is ours: 3:00-3:15- Pre Practice 3:15-3:25- Dynamic warm-up 3:25-3:35- Conditioning 3:35-3:40- H2O 3:40-4:05- INDY O 4:05-4:10- H2O 4:10-4:30- INDY D 4:30-4:35- H2O 4:35-4:55- Team O 4:55-5:00- H2O 5:00-5:20- Team D 5:20-5:30- Special Teams The special teams is not always at the end. We move that around to keep it interesting. We are a flebone triple option team (Navy/GT) so I'm particualarly interested in what you guys do, but also interested in how we could make our practices more "interesting". Oh, and all the water breaks are because we are in S. FL, they get less an less the closer we get to Nov. Can't be too careful with the hydration!!!

We have been going Helmets and Shoulder Pads only Mondays and Thursdays, Full Pads Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Am considering going Full Pads on Mondays too this year.

I believe "pro pads" is just "shell" or helmet/shoulder pads. At least that is what I have always understood it to be.

Can you go over the exact details of the incompletions and interceptions period? We only had 20% of out throws picked off last year and am looking to increase that percentage. I have heard of being inaccurate and late, but just really needed some extra tips.

Our athletic period is right before lunch so currently during the Period looks like this: Varsity Mon & Wed - Lift Tues - Spec Teams JV Mon - Team O/Spec Teams Tue - Lift Wed - Team D/Spec Teams
Then a 2 hour practice after school (full pads Mon-Wed). But the second hour of practice sucks, so we are trying to find a way to split it up and get better quality work.
We are thinking of getting Indy done during the period, so we can shorten the after school work done outside, and lift after practice. Does anyone else split it up this way?

VARSITY STAFF HC/OC/QB WR/Special Teams RB OL DC/DB LB DL JV STAFF Same as above but WR coach is OC/QB/WR **HC just observes and sometimes makes suggestions. Basketball Coach coaches LB/DC **VAR LB and DB/DC do not have JV duties. Wrestling Coach coaches DB
**We brought in Basketball and Wrestling coaches so some of their kids would come out for football too.
We are fortunate to have two 90 yard practice firelds side by side so one is dubbed the Offensive field while the other is Defense. While Varisty practices Offense, JV practices Defense and vice versa.
There is a completely different staff (4 guys) that coach the B-Team or Freshman Team.
We are a school of approximately 1500 students.

One little tip to save time on water breaks is to have water bottles all around the different groups so you don't have to waste time with water breaks. Kids just drink the water when they need it.

Same here we don't have water breaks we have water stations all over the field and the coaches take the players there for drills players drink when they need to. We had some push back from our parent group on this but after a few weeks they saw that it worked quite well.

We do not platoon and as such, we practice two days of offense and two days of defense. But, a typical defensive schedule for the middle of the season looks like this:
2:30 Meeting 3:00 Pre-Practice (kickers, snappers, specialists) 3:20 Dynamic Warm-Up 3:30 Special Teams 3:45 Water 3:50 Team Pursuit/Walkthrough 4:00 Individual position groups 4:20 Inside Run/1-on1s for DBs 4:30 7-on-7/1-on-1s for DL 4:40 Water 4:45 Team w/ emphasis on takeaways
*# of water breaks depend on time of year * We do not have all of our coaches until around 4:00 due to job conflicts * this is typical, but we often include tackling circuits, takeaway circuits and other circuits, especially early in fall camp.
