Just interviewed at a school and the booster club prez has way too much power. He was calling the shots. Glad I did not go back for round 2, I did not want to work at a school that the admin were not in control.

JD thats just weird. No school should let the booster club president have power. It's a support system. Ask the coach what he needs for the team to be successful, and get it for them, and if you don't have the money. Find a way to get it so the coach can have what he needs to be successful, thats what the booster club should be for not so tommy third strings dad can make you start him because he is the president of the booster club.

It would seem, then, that it needs to be in the club by-laws that no booster club officer can be a member of a committee that institutes school policy (such as a hiring committee).

At my last school, the "touchdown club" president was in on the hiring. Heck he served on the committee and asked questions, etc. That can be a little scary. If you don't win enough...he's most likely the one pressuring the principal to make changes. I agree with the above comments about how the booster club should serve as a support network ONLY. Just my 2 cents though.
