We really like new Hudl. I find it easy to click through all the data and pull whatever info you need without building and running a bunch of the reports. You can get the same info from all the reports we used to run and see what is or isn't relevant fairly quickly. It's also quick and easy to click on all kinds of odd ball combinations to find anything useful in the minutia. The biggest issue I have is making sure I don't have something random clicked in the data to throw the numbers off. Hudl assist can be a {censored} show, tho. We spend a lot of time re-entering data to be able to sort like we want.

I hate having my phone on me during practice; coaching in practice can get physical and if I got my phone in my pocket there is a good chance I may crack or break it over the season. I keep it in a duffel bag and check it during breaks to make sure the AD or parent hasnt texted about an emergency, but no need to keep it on me. The main reason I got a 'smart' watch was to be able to glance at notifications/incoming calls quickly without having to pull my phone out. I don't have to have the phone on me during practice any more, just close enough for just in case I need it.

Y'all are lucky with your right angles and stuff. When they put our track in in the late 80's it wouldn't quite fit in the stadium so they did the only logical thing and narrowed the field by 5 feet on one end. Try measuring and lining that {censored} out. At least there are markers for the corners, but you gotta know where to measure from or the hashes and numbers get all out of whack.

www.instructables.com/DIY-Glass-Dry-Erase-Board/This is a big winner for me. I have mounted them at work and at home. You can even paint the surface behind the glass black and use white/colored pens for writing. Easy, cheap and replaceable. A thousand times this. The shower board crap doesn't erase and stains like hell. Keep an eye on facebook marketplace and you can find a glass top coffee table or desk with a pretty good sized piece of glass for fairly cheap.

This district works basically as a consortium with the other districts in the county to keep things relatively equal so they don't have to compete with teacher pay, coaches pay, etc.... That sounds like collusion.

The description says it rotates and talks about a ground sleeve. It may be as simple as the base is a square that matches the dimensions of the post, you set it in concrete, and the post slides down in it and can just be pulled out.

We have 15 (school) days for 12 practices (the first 2 in helmets, then 10 in pads). We schedule 4 days a week over a 3 week period, finishing with a scrimmage or intra-squad game.

I wear New Balance turf shoes. Have to get a new pair every 2-3 years and pretty much only wear them at practice. This last model (4040v5) is ok, the first couple were really good.

So, for those states who expect players to wear masks while they're on the sideline ... where are they supposed to put their mask when they go into the game? We're selling neck gaiters as a fundraiser and all our kids got one. It stays on all the time, but probably breaks some kind of NFHS rule on uniforms.

From someone outside of the education world, how much funding would a school need if the kids aren't there every day?

T$$AA board has a meeting scheduled for tomorrow, the grapevine says they may look at moving football to spring. The director was quoted a couple months ago saying they can't make it financially without football playoffs, so who knows.

Our Gov just extended the current social distancing/work from home/etc executive order for the state through Aug 29. I'm thinking that should just about do it for the season. What state?

We're still under NFHS phase 1 guidelines, but we've got 7 on 7's scheduled next week. Not sure how that's been reconciled.

The thing I have a hard time getting my head around is: If we're not ready to put 30 kids back in a classroom, how do we rationalize putting 60 of 'em in a locker room on Friday night, or on a couple of busses to and from a game? Exactly why everything we're doing now is just tilting at windmills but nobody has the stones to stand up and say the season is off yet. They're all trying to let someone else be the first to cancel the season, then everybody will.

I like the way you put this as "right or wrong," because maybe that raises the ultimate question: not "Will we go back?" but "SHOULD we go back?" The way our district operates the lawyers won't let us play without concrete wording from the NFHS and TSSAA saying it's ok, so I guess that's a "We shouldn't".

If they don't ease the current guidelines after we come back from dead period I don't see how we play. Practice starts the end of July and if we aren't full go by then how can we get ready for a season after that?

He has probably had to defend his way of doing things so much in the past that he takes a defensive approach and it eventually became just bashing other coaches for the way they do things It's also a bit of salesmanship, setting up some straw men and knocking them down to make your point.
