We have 15 (school) days for 12 practices (the first 2 in helmets, then 10 in pads). We schedule 4 days a week over a 3 week period, finishing with a scrimmage or intra-squad game.

I’m going to partially hijack the thread and ask what do the individual practices look like?
Do you have offensive / defensive focus days or a little bit of both?
How much time in Indy, Group & Team?
How much are you focused on fundamentals and how much are you focused on scheme?
Do you do anything specific to prepare for opponents especially if they do anything unique (maybe an Option, Single Wing, Double Wing team) or do you just focus on your stuff?

We are always preparing for first couple of games. But aren’t told that. 20-25 min. Of individual. Individual for st sprinkled in at various in every practice. Inside runs. Perimeter runs 9on 7 707 half lines Routes on air Teams Every rep period is scripted, that only lengthens practice Though. 3 hrs

We are going to treat our practices this fall like the first two weeks of the season, except we are going to install more. We want to see what our players are good at and see if we need to change anything before our season in the spring. Our practices will be like a typical in-season practice as far as team, Indy, etc.

To the OP: what practice restrictions are there for the fall.
In Illinois. No body on body contact allowed. Shields, dummies, sleds only.
7 on 7 with you own team. Parent waiver required for that.

To go along with this thread:
What are your goals for spring practice? Identify starters? Fully install schemes? More fundamentals based? Do you install everything O/D and Specials?
sorry for all the questions but as of now, Michigan looks to be heading down that road and like the OP , we have never even thought about what a "spring practice" would look like

In Michigan as well....here’s our general approach. Finish installing anything we didn’t get to in week 1 of practice (O/D only). ST skill work, but not schemes. Rep our base O/D concepts a ton. We are alternating O/D days. Also trying to stay focused but keep it light and make sure the kids have fun....after all our first “spring practice” is still 6 months away. For example the last 15 minutes of one practice we let the OL/DL hop into 7/7.
Another factor is these are optional practices...while we will get most kids to show up, there will be times when you are missing a key kid or two. The more fundamental the approach, the easier it is to adjust your plan for the day.
