Spent the weekend at Glazier in Pittsburgh, listen to two different O-line guys, Dave Johnson from Ohio University. He was awesome, his presentation was loaded full of info and kept to a level that I can use with high schoolers. Showed clips but not many actually about 10, total but they were there to show technique. I also watch Jim McNally, the info was good but it was given in the first 10 minutes then showed clips of all pro linmen using his techniques and kept saying I don't know if you could use this with high school kids. I saw the same 2 guys. Coach Johnson was great. He broke down to a level that anyone could understand. Jim McNally was entertaining, but all 5 sessions were the same. All Technique, but no drills. I got the basic concepts from him, but know way to implement it. I believe blocking is eventually going to this at all levels. It would of been nice to see how you teach it. Rick Darlington form Apopka, FL was outstanding. I only stepped in for his Goal line D and Offseason session. I took 3-4 things we will implement this offseason. Bruce Lombard - MMAFX and Anthony Zettel (Penn St. & Detroit Lions DL) were good, too. Zettel was out late on Friday with a couple of former teammates and was a little "under the weather" but they showed the entirety of their hand fighting system. I liked it but it was basically a commercial for their video. Overall Pittsburgh Glazier seemed to not have much variety in topics. A Lot of 3-3 or 4-3 defense. It might have been me as I was only there to see McNally and Johnson for sure and find something to strike my fancy after that. I left Saturday after the sessions. Washington & Jefferson DC was there late Saturday & Sunday for 425 stuff, but I've seen him before and we don't do the anything they do.

I liked it and hated it. For me, it was the best chronicle of a football team I've ever seen (All or Nothing, Hard Knocks, ESPNU-thing, etc). I cringed at the entitlement of the athletes and coaches and they should have used more subtitles in the episodes. It did illustrate what many programs are dealing with in terms of academics(not just for your athletes). That college is extremely fortunate to have an academic adviser that naive (?) or engaged. I was conflicted on cringing or laughing out loud at the bible studies one minute and Mot***F**kerCo****erPiec*ofs***Sunova***** swinging at referees.....I've coached with a few guys like that JUCO is a tough bag, particularly in the South where they are used as DI gateways. It didn't help that EMCC had such a wild ride last year. Lot of the games are available on HUDL if you want more The Olineman that got "pushed"....lol.... "Coach, you ain't gotta touch me like that". That a seat, Nancy. The Dlineman that kept getting the call wrong...... Got a link to those HUDL games?

Since the link doesn't work are they saying you can have district/leagues with mixed classes or are they talking about getting rid of classes for the state and just one playoff for all schools? They're talking about a points based rating system. You get points based off who you play - the classification of the school you beat and their w/l record. Bonus for "playing up" a class. They do it in West Virginia and it has the least amount of controversy or complaints of any state system i've ever seen. And those people in that state are GREAT at complaining and causing controversy... haha Agree!

So this might be a little bizarre, but has anyone gotten custom championship belts? I'd like to get some made for our winning lift-a-thon team. I'm not sure I want to get 1 belt for the Team and hang it up. Or get multiple belts and let them take them home. If anyone has any thoughts or experiences with this, please share. Thanks! proambelts.com/we use them for our fantasy football league

We use 18" PVC pipe for all of our linemen. They each have to grab one to start practice. When we do step drills to work on our run game blocking, they have to move the PVC in front of their foot to work on their first step. Pick it up and put it down. They also use them for plyos all summer. Cheap easy way to reinforce footwork for the big guys. coach id love to see video demo or diagrams of the drills you use if you have them I'd like to see that as well

Yes I'm in WV. We have very odd rules when it comes to working with sports. Which school? I coached at Brooke for a few years. We used July to lift and classroom/reteach stuff with the kids. The kids had all of July to vacation as well. Try to put in everything in July. That way with one practice a day in August it will be a little easier for the kids. I mean put in as much as you can in JUNE

No we have a 3 week practice period in June but all we can do in July is workouts. We already do as much as legally possible with drills and teaching the schemes, but you can never get enough reps Are you in West Virginia?

Our school has a mandatory Pay to Participate Fee of $200.00 per sport. We are trying to raise the money to eliminate this fee or get it down as much as we can. You either pay the fee or raise the money. If you pony up the fee now you pay the whole fee. If you participate and the fee yes down or is zero.. You get that. Built in incentive to participate. We are fundraising for all players not just the 200.
