The slow decline of civilization as we know it... Maybe its me.... but I'm of the opinion that civilization has never really been that great to begin with ever. We as a collective species are a giant pool of mediocrity and let down.

Definitely looking to lower payments if posssible Your federal loans... You won't have a problem with. They will lower your payments and work with you to get it to something manageable. Now your private loans? Your F'd. They are what they are. Speaking from experience.

I doubt it was ever enough to motivate most people. That's a very long-term and abstract reward. Especially if I know that no matter how much I do or don't lift won't affect my playing time. So minus reports of CTE at the youth/HS levels of football and the increase extrinsic motivation compared to years past why is participation in youth and high school football decreasing? It seems as though reward systems would pump participation numbers up! Because football is hard. People don't love doing hard things.

Why is it messed up?? We are talking about the people that gives us our freedom. Who cares if they come back a little late if those kids want to do that. Cuz they're 16? This. A 16 year old kid shouldn't be making that decision yet, and personally I don't think military recruiters should be in the schools. I'm sure I'm in the minority on this and I realize its always been that way but I don't think military recruiters have any business in high schools giving high pressured sales pitches to adolescent teens that haven't necessarily figure out what they want in life yet.

That is absolutely 100% insane. It's legal, and if his actions were legal, then there is no grey area. That's really weak of the district. Really weak. I've thought about brewing and researched brewing, but ultimately didn't trust myself not to screw it up majorly. If I smoked, and it was legal in my state, I would totally grow my own. Again, this is just weak from that school. If it's legal, then your moral compass doesn't matter. Unless this was a private school. They are free to do whatever they want, pretty much. 1 thing to consider is it is still technically a violation of federal law. Even though the states in question have "legalized" it, the federal government has not. Now they just have chosen not to be very aggressive in enforcing federal law. I think it should be legal everywhere but its not so I don't like the premise that its the same as craft beer. It's not. Craft beer isn't illegal at the federal level.

I'm about 40 and I'm not nearly as spry as I was at 30. Go figure. It's called getting old. Oh no? What did this to you? Who slash what can you blame? Perhaps there's a lawsuit you can look into.

Wait.... But football won't exist in 2066!?!? I'm not one who believes it but do you think that fifty years ago, in 1966, anybody thought that heavyweight boxing would be dead? It can happen. Heavyweight boxing is dead because they took it off network TV and put it on ppv but Iget your point.

If only forgetfulness was the only symptom of CTE. I'm sure Waters, Robinson, Seau, etc all killed themselves because they simply forgot things. No but I don't believe that those severe cases are common. With all of the talk about CTE, though, every time that a guy has a forgetful spell he worries about CTE. I know that because I've wondered about it myself. Then I remembered that I was the guy who locked himself out my dorm room thirteen times in my first semester in college. I do understand that some guys have serious memory problems at an early age and I'm sure that playing PROFESSIONAL football at least contributed. I've heard Jim McMahon talk about getting lost driving home. I'm sure that football caused that but I doubt that it was high school football. Agreed. And what factor if any did the come and booze have? Are we to believe none and blame solely football?

Zero restrictions in the qc, analyst, off the field realm. Only mandate is that only 4 off the field guys can have a 1 way listening headset on, on game day.

The number 1 thing that frustrates me more that anything is no one is willing to mention or admit that just because you forget something or miss place something doesn't equate to or mean one has CTE. That isn't to diminish the very real issue that CTE and other forms of brain degeneration are. But we have gotten to this hyper awareness mode via media that, "damn I don't remember where I put my keys" automatically assumes that CTE or brain degeneration is involved some way shape or form. I'd venture to say of the 300 million + Americans out there 150 million forget something at some point in the day every day.

Is anyone staying until Wedensday? Our staff is going Sat-Tues, but my return ticket isn't until Wednesday it was cheaper that way (GA stipend living and all). I was wondering if anyone would be willing to let a young coach sleep on their floor Tuesday night?

Re: Dr. Notes Once had a dad call me the day after we rushed for 320+ in one of our few victories. He didn't want his boy playing OT, he was a fullback. We discussed it, he got angry. Monday he shows up with the player and a Dr. note saying that getting into a 3-point stance was hurting his back and that he could not do that anymore. Cleared for everything but the 3-point stance. So he couldn't play OT anymore. Played LB and was darn good. Our next OT was not nearly as good and we went downhill from there. Dad was willing, and able, to get his kid off the OL at the expense of the team. Can't get in a 3 point stance due to back injury. Can't play anywhere then get off the field go home!

We lined up 2 punters this year. 1 left footed 1 right footed with the ability to rugby each way. Any film of this coach? That would be interesting to see... Yep sure do just. Let me see if I can figure out how to share it.

Really worked well for us. Didn't give up a big return all year, rugbying allowed us to get coverage down field and the ability to go either way didn't allow teams to over load a side and come after us. Had a few fakes built in as well.
Really it developed 1 night out of sitting around watching a few kids kick the ball around. I noticed those were our best 2 legs and happened to be opposite footed. Our Oc said what if you put both back there? And from there "special punt" was born!

First of all I don't think that kids with oppositional defiant disorder are a lost cause. But, they are very difficult to coach. If you have dealt with this type of athlete, what kind of strategies have you used to get them to perform on a regular basis. Sounds like another clinical excuse for bad parenting to me.. I don't want to sound old school but... Be hard on them. Break em down to build them into decent human beings... I wonder if I fail to get my job done and do what's required of me if I can dip my hand into a pot of alphabet soup to get some letters to lay on his desk as an excuse

We in Illinois aren't allowed to have any version of two a days really. For the first five or six days, you're only allowed 3 hours of practice a day. Not three hours total like you could split it up 1 1/2 and come back later that day and do the rest. No, once you start stretching you are to conclude all practice 3 hours later. Then, if you choose, you can have an hour of "walk through" after a two hour rest where you must ensure that your players are in a "cool and dark environment". Biggest bunch of bull {censored} I've ever heard of in my life. Next on the agenda next summer is eliminating all hitting during the summer. Football is dead

Let's just have no practice all week and simply show up and play Fridays. After all there will be less contact and less injuries now.

I think it came across wrong.
My big issue is with the less i know the better approach. We aren't just there to win football games an develop talent, a major part of our job is to take adolecent youth and show them how to and give them opportunities to become great young men. Absolutely alot of this is parent responsibility however I don't like the sounds of simply turning a blind eye to the behavoirs of players once they are off school property and out of sight.
That certainly doesn't mean that I think you should have or want to sit there and sift through your players social media postings but if you happen to see something that might be of concern a conversation with him or the team as a whole about being a good responsible citizen and young adult is certainly not out of the question.
