Football on the other hand....... Is anyone else having to deal with all these regulations??? I'm not against them, as we were abiding by most if not all before they were handed anyway. During the season on Monday thru Wednesday we have a 20 minute period of team vs scout and 10 play period of 1s vs 1s and we will sometimes cut that out on Wednesdays. I guess that's the only thing we would be close to violating. I'm also confused by the, "it is recommended" language. The only thing I can figure is that the AHSAA is a lot like the NCAA and don't have enough people to enforce, thus this statement: "We have to rely on the integrity of the people monitoring and leading our student-athletes," he said. This worries me though, " We have thousands and thousands of parents who go to practice every day, and I'm sure someone will let us know if someone's not following those guidelines." www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/07/ahsaa_releases_football_practi.html#incart_river

thousands of parents and we will bend over backwards for 1-2...something is very wrong....when we ignore the super majority.

Okay, so they 90 minutes or less of of full team 11-on-11 contact periods in practice per week, with no recommendation for full contact groups of less than 11-on-11.
I read that to mean that they are basically asking for teams not to run more than 90 minutes a week of "team" in practice. Who is running 90 minutes of team in practice each week?
Even during preseason camp you can get by with no more than 15 min of team per day (its not like you are preping for a specific opponent that week anyways); and once again thats not including small group activities (7-on-7, inside run)

"The Alabama High School Athletic Association recommends its football teams do not exceed 90 minutes per week of full contact"
As they define full contact I don't think we would exceed 90 minutes of full contact in a season much less a week.

What they mean is if you do more than that, and a kid gets hurt, and you get sued, it will be used against you in court--you went against recommendations

The dumb football coach is no longer an excuse. The world is changing and football has to adapt or die.

Let's just have no practice all week and simply show up and play Fridays. After all there will be less contact and less injuries now.
