The "expanded Okie" is ok, I think the problem is that you've got an imbalance between the skill level of your OL and DL.

There is a league in Canada. It's not bad, but I think the game would be better if they played 9-man.

1, 2, and 3 make perfect sense, but 4? They're not recruiting you, they're recruiting some teenager. They're not obligated to pay you any specific courtesy.

More than likely yes, but the hotness to crazy factor is also pretty proportional I would imagine. I didn't say she was wife material...

I agree, but there's no obligation to contact the coach, especially in the internet age you don't need to go through the HS just to find the kid's phone number. Kids can direct their own recruitment (for better or worse).
Now, I don't know about blindly offering a kid on first contact, that seems like a weird move to me, but I understand how a kid could get recruited without HS coach involvement.

Why would coaches consider themselves the gatekeepers of the kid's lives? If college coaches contact you it's because they're vetting the kid, they're trying to get you to work the kid for them, or they're trying to grease future recruits.

It's like the difference between dredging and trawling. They're probably not inviting every kid they can find, but they're also not parsing through every film out there to hand-write invitations.

So, the opposite approach of every other tackling sport? No because you can teach something without needing a 100 reps b4 a test, if you get the 1st 3 right, why do u need to do 97 more problems? So exactly the opposite of every other tackling sport?

An easy fix is to have the "extra" divisional game be declared a "non-conference" game and thus wouldn't count in the playoff standings. Otherwise it's really messy. Some thoughts:
Win% If 2 teams are tied: head to head If they didn't play: head to head win% against common opponents If still tied: points for divided by points against among common opponents If still tied: points for divided by points against in all divisional games If still tied: fewest UR penalties (?)
If 3+ teams are tied: Use tiebreakers until one of them finds a single top team then restart. For example, if 5 teams are tied and the first tiebreaker has 3 teams tied at the top, just move on to the second tiebreaker, and so on until a tiebreaker gives you a clear winner, then you start all the way back at the top.
IF they all played each other: Head to head among tied teams win% among opponents common to all teams Points for/points against in games among tied teams
If still tied or if they didn't all play each other win% among common opponents points for/points against against common opponents points for/points against in all divisional games

Does anyone else find it odd that we expect kids to hit each other with maximum speed and intensity on Friday nights but give them basically no opportunity to practice a pretty technical skill?

We traditionally played Saturdays but lately have been moving to a more Friday-driven schedule, which is a pain. One team realized that they could make a lot of money moving to Friday night (host gets to decide gametime) but that caused a short week for everyone playing them so that meant everyone wanted to move their home games to Friday to protect themselves from the knock-on effects, so we have a hash of short and long weeks. What we do is base everything off gameday, so we figure out our four practices backwards from there and either we have 0, 1, or 2 days off.

You guys are nothing. At The Zoo I was the oldest coach on the staff. I was 22. HC was 19, he hired his buddies, both 19, as OC and DC, OC crapped out midseason, tabbed another 19y/o buddy as OC, they giggled and bragged about how many plays they were installing every week, all the while the DC would blitz the flat defender and not assign anyone to pick it up.

Sunday morning I went to the Gustavus Adolphus guys as a throwaway, I had no expectations, but they were really good.
Bob Wylie is always interesting. Try being on the practice field with him, everything comes to a screeching halt when he sees a nice pair of legs.
