Maybe yours is like that because they have trouble getting people to hold the sticks. Plus they don't need to paint as many lines, which some find trouble getting people with time to do it. The home team is supposed to be responsible for a chain gang and they get penalized if there's not one in place so I can't see that being the rationale behind it. I'm stumped, equipment handout is tomorrow nite so we're gonna ask about it and see what's up.

Looking thru the league rule book tonite it says the field is split into five 20 yard zones where the lines are painted, and each time you pass a line its a first down. This is how we did it in intramural flag football. You could have first and 1 or first and 19! Anybody else have a league that does it like that? I've never heard of an organized tackle football game where a first down isn't 10 yards.

Kiffin has already publicly apologized to the Coach at Pahokee and they buried the hatchet. The principal now wants him to come to Pahokee and publicly apologize to the whole community. Kiffin shouldn't have said it, no doubt, and he should apologize to the whole school, imo. But he shouldn't have to go down there and jump through hoops. I think there's prolly enough blame to go around here, Kiffin shot his mouth off, and the principal is headline grabbing, they both should share some fault in this. I be quiet now or I'll turn into a fanboy poster. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

That's pretty cool. Brees is on my fantasy team, thank you auto pick!
Wow for:
600 rpm. Brees' score. The telemetry on that football. Sweet!
Btw, ever notice how NFL balls look less wobbly in flight because they don't have the white stripes?

I think it was spreadattack that had either a post here or on his blog about starting field position being the best indicator on scoring points.

Now how this thread went from "gift horse" to "dead horse" is something else entirely. Everybody kept beating the gift horse until it became, well, you know...

Does it mean I'm getting old if I would just as soon have the back rub than the original?
I'd say this comes from a time when horses were much more common around the homestead and it wasn't quite a big deal to keep one up. To update the phrase would probably be 'Don't check the carfax report on a car somebody gives you the keys to.'
Irish- I'd agree that honesty is the best policy. It's prolly best just to tell him straight up it doesn't fit what we are trying to do.

What makes it so expensive? I wonder how much it costs to make it Don't forget how long and how much it must have cost to develop.

We have a 2 week dead period in Tennessee. No contact between coaches and players, and players can't use school facilities, ie weightroom.

Thats one of the benefits of living with the gnats and fire ants airman, lol....well... that, and we're too poor to afford anything better.....nothing finer though when you can stripe that bermuda every 5 yards with a good fairway mower....looks pretty, lol Dumb question MAYBE.. but just how do you go about making every 5 look different? Mow it different directions. Start on the sideline and go across, turn around and come back in the next 5 yard block. Voila!

I saw a team one time that had a big stud that had 2 different numbers for his jersey. The regular original number was an ineligible lineman number that he used when he played O-line and blocked. But sometimes they put him in the backfield as a FB and wanted an eligible number for him so they had a piece of the jersey material with an eligible number (33, I think) with velcro around the edges and they would stick it on over his other number and go play in the backfield.
Hey, maybe the jerseys for the new A-11 can have no number on them, but the players have a velcro'd piece with an eligible and ineligible number on opposite sides, and then right before the snap they slap on whichever they want.

But they were simulating the start of a play. That's what makes it, subject to interpretation, a penalty. That's how I understand it.

Do you really think there are 20 special team snaps a game? Yep. Figure 2 ST plays for every score, FG or PAT and Kickoff. So if there's only 5 total scores between both teams that's 10 ST plays. Then 4-5 punts each is 20-ish ST plays.

Matchups have killed the Big 10... shame on the Big for not winning any of these big games, but these are better teams they are facing... The Big 10 is facing the same thing the SEC is. When you get 2 teams in the BCS it drops the ranking of the teams eligible for the next bowl games in line.

My SEC outlook. And I don't think it looks too good. I do like UGA over Mich St, Bama over Utah, and UF over OK. But maybe it's just my longtime view of Vandy and SCar that makes me think they're going down. Texas Tech will be more than Ole Miss can handle, and I don't like the LSU/GT matchup at all. I see the Kentucky/ECU game as a pick 'em at best. So overall, I think the SEC may take a few lumps this year, and give everybody who likes to poke at us SEC snobs a few sticks to work with. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)
