The school installed speakers in our weight room but I couldn't tell you the make. The boys thought they were good. Careful how you go about music though. I would tell my boys playing music would solely depend on their intensity with the workouts. Also...I let them use their music lists, BUT...the lyrics of ANY song could not disparage, demean, degrade, or be derogatory in nature. Definitely NOTHING vulgar! Surprisingly they would come to me and ask me to listen to their lists first, and again...surprisingly...I only rejected a few songs. Once, and only once, did a kid try to slip a list past me. No music for the remainder of the workout that day. The team wasn't upset with me...but...they let that kid know his place, and that it wasn't cool with them. So you guys listen to all instrumentals? I just played stranglehold by nugent over and over seriously

me? kill some time, and try to stay in touch with the game, although a lot in the game has changed since i was on here years ago. i lost touch for several years after i got out. also, occasionally, i might be able to give info or advice, although the game has changed a lot, so i'm not sure how often that might happen. is that ok? then talk some ball

seriously? my son was in lewisville for awhile, so i got exposed to the metromess. gps will tell you what exit to take, but it doesn't always tell you the hiway will split 3 times before you get to that exit. haven't been to austin or houston in a long time (and thank God for that). my feelings there are the same as dallas; if i'm a good boy and live right, maybe i'll never have to again. yes seriously I lived in all 3 before gps and maps on phone. What is your purpose here?

amen. and you couldn't drag me to dallas, either. what a mess to try to get around in. a lot easier there than austin or houston but yes, it is a cesspool also

Nothing important fellas, I'm going to be in the area and I had 2 days to kill and I wanted to check see if anyone had anything going on to watch, 7 on 7 or summer workouts etc. being retired now, you couldn't drag me to a 7on7. Just brutally boring.

The last couple pages of this thread have been amongst the oddest I've read on here. We might as well let aceback and that one guy who had literally had five different usernames chime in at this point. they were all the same dude, and his lackey.

I remember a kid that got signed, and then had an injury, my d1 coaches honored his scholarship. Meant a lot to me. This is the opposite. Coach- that sounds like an apples to broccoli comparison. Also keep in mind you are a “ehem” one of us mature coaches. What was the scholarship limit back then? Quite possibly it is different than today. Also quite possible that his grant in aid was shipped off the athletic books if he was injured such that he would never play- and he wasn’t a “counter” Also- and I may be wrong here, but I haven’t seen reports that he was telling kids their grant in aids were not getting renewed. It seems much more like he was telling players on a historically poor performing team - “hey, I don’t think you are as good as the players I am bringing in. You won’t play here. Do yourself a favor, take advantage of the new rules, and find a spot to play somewhere else” he is a self serving assholle, heard it from multiple mommas he was trying to get their kids to come to "school" with him there wasn't any "school" and I don't care if he didn't know about how it worked or not, his intentions were ALL about him, didn't give two shiits about the kids. EVERY coach in DFW knew about it and hated his ass. Funny how he wasn't allowed to show up to and wouldn't have been allowed to come to NTFCA clinics.

I think there has been a lot of prejudice regarding Sanders, some of it coming from coaches on this board. People are making judgements and comments but haven't bothered knowing the actual situation. As you mentioned, he seems quite old school when you hear first hand accounts. Put one kid off because the kid refused to wear the socks the rest of the team was told to wear. Asked his running back room "If it is 4th and goal from the 2, who is getting the ball" and nobody stepped up and answered. Sanders later told someone "that told me all I need to know about the guys in that room". They may not be a very successful team, but how is that any different than the last 5 coaches? People can say what they want about him, and some or all of it might be true, but he is spot on with that 4 and 2 thing with the RB room. I guess it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that isn't a good sign, but still. You'd want at least ONE guy to step up to the plate and say "ME, coach" I remember a kid that got signed, and then had an injury, my d1 coaches honored his scholarship. Meant a lot to me. This is the opposite.

There was a reason DFW coaches hated him when he was with prime prep academy. I have nothing good to say about the guy.

NEED HELP!! All lineman are quitting, what can we do to retain the big guys? We're not loaded with depth so the lineman we have left aren't giving us anything real on the LOS. (Spring Ball) Skills seem to be loving it by the way. relationships need an ol coach that understands it and can do it, a natural thing, can't be taught imo

And what happens if you don't do it? Even in Texas? Parents and admins don't think you're "doing enough" and you get fired. In Texas your teaching job may be tied to your coaching job so you don't just lose a stipend you lose your mortgage-paying job. exactly why the homogenized bullcorn we saw every week it's like the old argument that cops will enforce unjust laws just to keep their dental plan just sucks

They probably won't let you be the Head Coach. So, you've been a successful HC for a few years and you stop doing 7on7s they're going to fire you? the public bs about it would certainly bring heat unless you just win a ton problem is most of the schools in "contrarian offenses" are doing it for a reason,, they are undertalented, thus hard to win why the homogenization of offense in texas,, same {censored} every team it seems just sad

in texas the best we had was an office for football (and then the second sport we coached in the spring, same folks) 16 desks, 16 coaches projector on each end with whiteboards on the end for o and d, cabinets and bookshelves around each desk , computer on each desk
hc office seperate but real close, multiple hole bathroom nearby with showers
film room that doubled as coordinator office that was seperate
all right next to the lockerooms for football, and other male sports (the other sports like soccer/bball/ baseball had their own offices down the hall
it was within the building was the only thing I didn't like, like we were there and admin would show up sometimes un announced, hated that, would rather have it in a seperate building to keep admin scum away

I can't hardly watch college anymore. Nfl I just watch to see the freaks, don't care about a specific team.

We are looking to create our offensive goal boards for the 2023 season. Looking for some ideas of the goals others emphasize..... 3rd down conversion % Red zone efficiency # of Explosive plays (how do you define?) Anyone have data on which goals led directly to wins, such as <12% of all off offensive plays negative (sack, penalty, turnover, dropped pass, etc) = 92% win (came across that last night in some research) Appreciate anyone willing to share....thx Use the search function here- or search google for "coachhuey" and goals goal boards etc... Lots of previous threads on this topic that can help you. Might I also add that focusing on process goals instead of outcome goals. Despite many coaches trying to be trendy/clever with goals and using the "new" goals such as the ones you listed over the "old" goals (yds rushing, yards passing, etc), AND the fact that the new goals are probably "better", they are still very often outcome goals and not process goals. this over the years the goal board became a thing that really didn't matter to me did we win? why? emphasize why you won.... the yards per whatever didn't really matter as much---they were more for pumping egos to me in the end

Completely depends on the player. Some can do it without more than a couple reps. Some, it takes weeks. this as a coach you just feel it or not

spacing and high speed collisions cause more of it than in the trenches ball The science doesn’t seem to agree with you here. More and more those researching this topic point to the high volume of lower intensity, sub concussive impacts being the most dangerous factor. science like the covid? umkkay

larrymoe, I get what you are saying but saved may be a better word. With the concussion scare in America today, basketball on the gridiron is a way to preserve the sport in some peoples eyes. spacing and high speed collisions cause more of it than in the trenches ball
