I am currently at a school that has 0 knee braces for the OL, and have a very little amount of money for some.
I am wondering if anyone in Texas or surrounding area has old pairs of knee braces that they are ready to throw out, or even sell for some change?

In 10 years of playing OL, I never wore a knee brace and in 20 years of coaching never gave a kid one. They'll be OK without them.

We don’t provide knee braces to players, that’s between them, their parents, and the insurance company. Knee braces are meant to be custom fit to the individual player, it’s not like a girdle that you can throw on and make work.

Have you run this past your school or district risk manager or legal dept? Knee Braces are not required like helmets/shoulder pads etc, and I could see issues arising if a player was injured wearing a used/discarded knee brace obtained from another team

Never had a kid wear a knee brace that wasn't from a previous injury in 28 years of coaching. Not sure most HS OL even need them. Just like these Guardian caps that are all the rage, do they even do anything to protect the people wearing them?

I've read articles that have said they actually make the matter worse by preventing glancing blows from just "sliding" off. But, they look cool and they prove to their snowplow parents that their coaches care. Plus, they give coaches another reason to fundraise amd spend money.

Basically said you can wrap an egg shell in kevlar and drop it from a window. The shell will be in great shape but the yolk will be totally scrambled. Unless you can fill the inside of the head with a cushioning agent it doesn't matter. It doesn't stop the brain from hitting the skull. Also should throw in that KT tape or what ever that crap is as another snake oil that is being pushed on athletes.

Geez, I guess I won't start a thread asking about the new age jock strap that can also serve as a chin strap that I found on Amazon EBay Plus
